Overview

About the property

Phenests - a house that sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms

Phenests is a pretty town house, located on the outer edge of the town but close to Swanpool Beach and Falmouth Golf Course. If you do not wish to drive the short journey into town, there is a bus stop close by. Phenests is decorated throughout in pastel shades, making the property really feel like home.

There's parking for up to three cars on the drive. Once inside, the lounge has a wood-laminate floor and warm peach coloured walls. There's one comfy sofa and a matching armchair, plus an upright leather chair in forest green. Move through to the kitchen diner and you'll find the well-equipped kitchen, kitted out with contemporary units in a light wood, and glossy marble-effect work tops. Just a few steps to the large pine dining table and chairs, and French doors into the garden.

Upstairs you'll find the master bedroom with a king-size bed, and dressed with a soft comforter that will add extra warmth on chilly night, or act as a blanket for snuggling in front of the TV. You've got two reading lights so you don't even need to get out of bed to turn off the lights before settling down to sleep. The room is painted in cream which is a perfect backdrop for the illustrations on the walls, and there's a large window so the whole room feels light and airy. You'll find plenty of storage in the warm, pine wardrobe and bedroom units. The second bedroom is a twin room, and the third has a three-quarter size bed with useful storage underneath. The family bathroom is upstairs and is fully tiled in ecru with a contemporary beige and charcoal mosaic motif. The accessories are all in modern chrome.

Phenest's strongest feature is arguably the garden - it's well-established with a range of flowering plants and bushes and offers privacy from the neighbours. Open the French doors and you'll find yourself on the decking. There's a large patio table here with chairs - it's the perfect spot for family breakfasts of hot coffee and warm, buttery croissants, or lazy suppers with a bottle or two of Merlot. Step down to the tiled area with your book, kick off your flip flops and stretch out on the sun lounger. If the heat is too much in this lovely little sun trap, pull the awning across and chill for a bit. Or step through the arch to the lawn and the rotary airer for drying off your swim wear and beach towels.

For bookings of one week or over, we'll pop in a Cornish welcome pack.

Phenests has a three-star rating by Quality in Tourism. There's a returnable £100 deposit against damages on this property, and dogs are welcome, but please note they are not allowed on furniture.

Nice little house on the edge of Falmouth with good garden and adequate parking. A good Christmas!

Clean, comfortable and convenient. Our second stay and we were pleased to find new bedlinen and towels were provided which was a huge improvement since our last stay. The only downside of this nice little house is the poor TV package provided. This is more important in winter when more time is spend indoors. Provides a convenient base to explore this very attractive area.

Location

Spend the week in Falmouth - the third largest natural harbour in the world. Take a boat trip along the Carrick Waters to a smuggler's cottage, or hop on the ferry to St Mawes. Visit the Maritime Museum, great for children with its hands-on approach. Catch some Medieval jousting at Pendennis Castle. Or simply sit with a cold glass of white wine and watch the boats glide by.

Indulge yourself with a delicious, locally made ice cream or mango and passion fruit sorbet. Lose yourself in a luxurious Cornish Clotted Cream Tea - jam first please, we're Cornish! Try a bottle of Rattler Cider, or a pint of Betty Stogs.

Mosey though the town's eclectic mix of art galleries, bistros and gift shops. Try a Ghost Walk at dusk! Snooze on Gyllingvase Beach in the sun. Get your feet wet from a wild array of watersports – sailing, snorkelling, coasteering, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding.

Look out for Falmouth Week, UB40 or Jools Holland and his Rythm and Blues Band performing in Events Square. Come and sing along with The Fisherman's Friends at the International Sea Shanty Festival. And if you're brave, try your hand at a bit of schucking down at the Oyster Festival in October.

Falmouth has so much going on, you could spend the week here, but it's also an ideal base for exploring this part of Cornwall: Truro, the Duchy's capital, is only thirty minutes' away by car, or try Helston, home of the Furry Dance and the gateway onto the Lizard Peninsula. Wherever you go, you're sure of a proper Cornish welcome, and the chance to simply relax.
