About Fiona Fraser
We bought the Estate to get away from the rat race and give our children the upbringing we dreamed of. We wanted peace and seclusion with no man made noise, just beautiful surroundings and the amazing wildlife.
Fiona Fraser purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Fiona Fraser chose Pitlochry
It ticked all the boxes and much more.

Peaceful Short Break
Spent a relaxing few days in this lovely, rustic cottage with the other half. Was slightly concerned on arrival as it was not as secluded as I had imagined. However, soon got over that when I realised how quiet and peaceful the grounds are. Great base for us also as we spent our time out cycling. Loved looking out the window watching the rabbits wandering around. Especially loved the daily visits from the wee pigeon.
Overall we had a great time and would easily return again.
Thank you for the lovely review, we are very pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the peace and quiet surrounded by nature. We have updated the photos on the website to show the cottage and surroundings in more detail so that everyone knows there are some buildings around. We look forward to having you back again.
Stunning scenery,very quaint wee cottage.
Had a very pleasant 2 night stay, loved the views, the walks round the estate were very interesting(husband being a former boarder), cottage was very well equipped, comfy beds, bathing was a strange experience (did not expect the peaty water),would definitely recommend if all you want is a quiet peaceful time out .will hopefully return someday.
Very misleading photos
The cottage was absolutely fine. We've stayed in more comfortable places, but have also stayed in less comfortable places. We would have preferred to have had the electricity bill included in the overall cost. Our children were very happy, especially when Burden the pet pigeon appeared. BUT: the photographs of the cottage are EXTREMELY misleading, as is the description of its situation. The truth is that it is located in the middle of a disused, and now very dilapidated, boarding school. The cottage is surrounded on three sides by buildings in varying states of disrepair. It is disingenuous, at best, for this not to be admitted on the website.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay but feel the comment on the cottage surrounding are a little unfair. The Estate goes back to 1347 and was the Robertson Clan Seat, its true it became a high fee paying boarding school for a number of years but since we purchased it once again it has turned back a family run Estate for over 15 years now. We have suffered some storm damage due to the severe gales and snow this winter which are scheduled for repair this year so some of the outbuilding do need tidying up but none of the buildings that are untidy are in sight from the cottage, one would need to be walking around the Estate to see these properties.
Quaint Scottish Estate Cottage.
A well decorated, and well equipped, Scottish estate cottage. The bed was really comfortable and had a dual electric blanket. There were only two of us but it would be good for a family holiday. We were there during the St Patrick’s Day holiday and it was peaceful & perfect. There are many walks around Rannoch Station. You can drive around both sides of Loch Rannoch. Kinloch Rannoch has a shop/Post Office. There was a lot of snow around but it was still enjoyable.
Peaceful, will be back.
We booked a weekend at this cottage which turned out to be a few days after the first snow fall of the season, making for a very scenic arrival. We enjoyed a walk in the local area and down to the lochside, a couple of visits to the local village amongst other activities. This was just what we needed to give us a break from our daily lives.
We are really pleased the cottage and surroundings came up to expectations and the stay was enjoyable. Thanks for the five star review, this is what we aim to achieve, a peaceful escape to rest and take in the beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Welcome back soon.
Its a shame when people don't read the information and expect something else when arriving. We have guests that book year after year because the cottage is exactly what they want, rural, peaceful and inexpensive their reviews say it all.
