We have been visiting Lake Arrowhead for over 14 years. We fell in love with it in 2004 and bought a home. We have not missed a summer since. It has been the highlight of many wonderful family vacations, watching our boys go through their teens and sharing in their adventures. We have had friends and family alike share wonderful times at this very special place.

For over 12 years we have used, upgraded as well as rented this wonderful getaway lake house. WHY THIS PROPERTY? Because we love * the views of the lake and mountains * proximity to the lake and beach club * the privacy * Level entry & coverd parking * the hiking paths around the lake itself, through the UCLA Conference Center grounds (all wooded) * Old Tavern Bay's charming large homes with rolling front yards. * Plus the house itself is light and spacious with ample deck space, living space and plenty of bathrooms so people are not waiting…just love the fireplace setting in the evening. We have wooded property on our left and the lake, pines and hills in front of us, so it feels very private. Also, this house stays warm in winter/cool in summer! New roof, doubled paned sliders, new heating system big fire place = cozy and warm in winter. Dedicated bedrooms on the lower level are cool in summer.
What makes this House unique
Enjoy the lake and mountain view from our large shaded decks. If you want more sun, just roll back the awning. Main viewing deck is new 2016 and it is huge, as is the newly renovated kitchen in 2017. Space, privacy, lake view, and location close to the lake and beach club- all in 1 lovely home. Level entry and covered parking is really important in the winter months and summer too. Ample parking is hard to come by and we have it. Ample space in the house, on the decks, and enough bathrooms for a larger family or families. Direct access out and down through our back yard leads straight to ALA 49A, the direct access path to the lake. Use of the nearby private Tavern Bay Beach Club is yours, along with many hiking trails just out our door. We offer Kayak rental and can provide spa passes at a discount, so just ask. We also have over 14 years of experience at the lake to answer your questions with, so please ask.

One issue after another
I'm not big on writing negative reviews, but in this case I believe buyer (or renter) beware is appropriate. Upon arrival we started noticing issues with the house. Things were not functioning as they should (fans, fridge, shower door, patio door, etc.) additionally we were charged for additional linens that weren't completely provided. My husband rented the kayak which as infested with ants and spiders an dirt and despite his efforts in trying to clean it off, was unable to. We reached out to Linda with a request to get a refund for the kayak which she initially agreed to. But once we arrived back home she has not responded to my emails or texts and has NOT provided any refund for the kayak or linens. Unfortunately I had to file formal complaint in with VRBO. My understanding is that the house is being sold, so maybe she just doesn't care if renters are satisfied or not anymore. Unfortunate.
Beautiful house, perfect location
Mary's house was perfect for our large, extended family. The location was great, easy to get to, and we loved the fact that the ALA trail is directly behind the house. One thing I must note, is that the home's stairway from the backyard to the trail can be a bit steep, if you're in good shape then you should be fine. My elderly parents, however, had a difficult time. Just something to point out in case anybody thinks the stairs are a breeze to navigate. The partial view of the lake from the main deck is absolutely beautiful, same goes for the master bedroom. The driveway is level with the outside road so there's no steepness to worry about, which was great because I was worried about having a hard time pulling in. It easily fit my family's 3 standard size sedans. The house didn't have AC, but we preferred the natural mountain air, anyway. Thanks for a great stay :) Our first time in Lake Arrowhead and we loved it!

We made the most of what we got. The description of the house was deceiving for what it was.
We were a 4 generation family looking for a way to have fun for all ages. When we first arrived it seemed as though it wasn't cleaned from the prior renters; Dirty sheets, cobwebs/spiders, broken kitchen faucet, cigarette butts under the kitchen table, BBQ not cleaned, the carpets were very old and dirty, etc. We had babies crawling on the floor so it was unsettling to come into that situation because we were staying there for a week. There are no bedrooms on the main floor which made it very challenging for the great grandparents to go up and down the stairs to get to their room.
The house is 2 blocks up from the lake, but it was all privately owned docks that we were not allowed on to fish or anything. The tavern beach access was really nice, however, we were anticipating a short walk to the beach access and we had to drive with 2 cars because it was too far and we didn't bring our stroller due to the description of the location they wrote.
The owner was cordial and apologetic and had cleaners come out as well as a plumber to fix the faucet which helped, but it was more like glamping (glamorous camping) than staying at a home away from home.
We are glad that your family had a chance to get away to the mountains, and enjoy the vistas from our decks. Our professional crew worked diligently to complete a same day turn around so that you could arrive as early as possible. We always try to accommodate special requests. If any issues occur, we take care of it right away. I am glad you feel that we did this for you. We do not allow smoking, had we found cigarettes, we too would have a problem with that. We also sanitized the 2 pet urine stains that accidentally occurred during your stay. We understand that accidents happen.
We try to describe the sleeping areas and floor plan clearly and so we do outline that in 3 separate areas including a personal e-mail listing the types of beds, location of each bed, and the level the beds/rooms are on. It is a large house so we do our best to show you all the levels and describe them. Regarding fishing, it is allowed (with adult license) anywhere along the shoreline and or at the dedicated fishing dock on Peninsula Point, which your pass will allow access to. Our goal, in the end is to provide you with a beautiful house in a great location and easy access to all the activities Lake Arrowhead has to offer. Thank you again for staying with us!
A perfect family get away!
Our group consisted of eleven people in one extended family, ranging in age from 5 to 78. The word that was most often repeated, was "perfect." The house was as beautiful and well- kept as advertised, and convenient for everything we wanted to do. The only problem was that the children so enjoyed the foosball, the game room, and the house in general, that it was sometimes difficult to get them to go on outings!
The absolute high point, of course, was the 4th of July. We'd planned to go into the Village for the concerts and maybe dinner, then return "home" for the fireworks.. Within thirty minutes, we all agreed that our house was the best place on the Lake to hang out and we raced back to barbecue, listen to music, and enjoy the most spectacular fireworks show right off our deck! It was "perfect!"
The owner, Mary, was super available and responsive to all our questions and requests.
We all agreed that it was the best possible week and we totally enjoyed the Lake, the community, the house and being together.

This property is 1st Tier, which means it is 1 street up from the lake. It has no houses in front of it to obstruct your views of the lake and mountains. Very private. Nothing between you and the lake but pines! The vistas are lovely.
You have direct access to the lake via ALA path 49A. The house is the level entry and has a big fireplace.
In season, The Beach Club is also just down West Shore and you can walk or drive with free LAKEFRONT parking and complimentary passes.

This house is well maintained with new appliances and a new roof 2010. New Carpeting 2014. All new double pane sliders and windows 2014, and new expanded deck in Oct 2016 and a Newly remodeled Kitchen in 2017.
Winter notes: Located 12 miles from skiing and TUBING RUNS are a little closer. Your fun in the SNOW is just minutes away. We provide directions too, plus sleds...
Summer notes...summer is just great fun- bring your fishing rod! PLUS ask about a day at the nearby health club/ spa.
Other Activities: Shopping and live entertainment /concerts on weekends in the village. Farmers Market on Fri afternoons in the summer
Ski: Tubing: Snowdrift Winter Playground (909) 867-2640 is located on Highway 18, 5 miles east of Running Springs and offers tube-tobogganing under special-use permit from the Forest Service. Take 173 North Bay Road from Lake Arrowhead to Kuffel Canyon Road to 18 west (left) toward Running Springs and Big Bear. It is 4 Miles past Running Springs on the right. See website: Snowdrift.net
Snow Valley Ski Area (909) 867-2751. Not ready to try skiing or snowboarding yet? Enjoy Snow Valley's Snow Play area. Snow Play is a specially designated area at the base of the mountain where the whole family can enjoy a day in the snow. Snow Play is open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 4 PM, weather and conditions permitting.
Take the I-10 Freeway to Redlands and transition to Hwy 30 north to the 330. Follow Hwy 330 up the mountain where it joins Hwy 18 in Running Springs. Snow Valley is just 5 miles east of Running Springs on Hwy 18.
