About Jules & Chris Matthews
We have been holidaying in this beautiful stretch of the North Norfolk Coast for many years with family and friends. Our children have loved coming here since they were little and still now as teenagers.
Jules & Chris Matthews purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Jules & Chris Matthews chose Burnham Overy Staithe
It was always our dream to have our own holiday home in this area - when we first stepped into Rahere we knew it was for us. It immediately felt like home and we love to come here as often as our work/family schedules allow. We hope too you'll feel the same and that the cottage feels like a real home from home for you on your holiday.
What makes this Cottage unique
Literally opposite the harbour, Rahere couldn't be better placed. Retaining all of it's period charm (fireplaces, wooden panelled rooms, lead glass windows etc) we especially love the amount of space - 2 living areas, an eat in kitchen and all 4 double bedrooms are really spacious. The sunny south facing garden is a delight for sun downers after a day out at the beach or BBQ gatherings with friends. The pub down the road (1 min walk) serves lovely food on the days you don't feel like going far. A real bonus are the tennis courts and play area just 2 mins walk away too.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Home from Home with a little added extra
We have just spent a lovely long weekend at Rahere cottage.
A beautiful property with everything you need provided, close to great walks, pubs and the gorgeous Burnham Market and Wells.
So glad to hear you had a lovely stay. We hope to welcome you back sometime soon!
Cottage of character in one of our most favourite locau
3 generations of us stayed for a week. We spent most of the time when in the property in the garden as the weather was so great. Shade from the oak tree was a bonus. We will definitely consider renting the property again as it suited all our needs.
Thank you so much Annie, so glad you had an amazing holiday. We look forward to seeing you at Rahere again soon! Jules
Comfortable Cottage in a lovely area
We found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped. The only small issue was the bathroom juggle but not a big deal as all relaxed whilst here. We all slept well in the lovely beds and enjoyed a film or 2 from the DVD collection. No distance from the coop in Wells or the Nisa in Burnham Deepdale for provisions and just a few minutes drive to Burnham Market if you want to treat yourself. Beautiful walks, beaches and a decent pub on the doorstep with other lovely villages and towns within a short drive. The area is geared up for visitors but not over spoiled, we hope to return and explore further. Thank you for our stay.
Thank you for leaving such a lovely review!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Rahere and Burnham Overy Staithe.
We look forward to welcoming your family back in the future.

Beautiful and authentic cottage
This was our first holiday using an app like this. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Great facilities and kitchen, close to the beach area and easy reach of many other areas and activities. We walked to the most stunning and spectacular beach on the first day, completely unspoilt. Particular thanks to the owners for the informative blue folder! Completely recommend.
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the cottage and your warm feedback! We are so glad your enjoyed your stay and very much hope to welcome you back for another break at the cottage in the future!

Excellent accommodation in superb coastal village
Loved it. All arrangements were excellent. Great outside area and parking. Beds for 8 are extremely comfortable. Loved having two receptions rooms as our party comprised 4 young lively adults and 4 in search of a quiet space to read and practice guitar. The kitchen is well supplied and a large dining table seated 8 easily. We had a well behaved collie, who slept in the 'boot room' at the bottom of the stairs and loved his stay too. Master bedroom has a wash hand basin. One combined bathroom/lavatory only presented a bit of a timing challenge for 8 people. Cottage was clean and welcoming and we were sad to leave. Tons to do along this coast; we walked to Holkham and to Burnham Deepdale and ate at Morston Hall. The White Horse at B Deepdale is lovely. Saw 12 red kites wheeling above the marshes, while lunching on the W. Horse balcony. A super stay.
Within short walking distance: Restaurant/Pub, creek, sandy beach & dunes, estuary walks, birdspotting, boathouse (with boat hire), summer boat taxi to the island, tennis courts & playground.
1 mile to famous Burnham Market town - with eateries, boutique shops and deli's.
Brancaster sailing 4 miles, golf & Holkham Hall all easily reachable by car within 20 mins or the coast hopper bus service which runs along the coast to Wells Next the Sea (5 miles)
