Small, delightful, mountain village houses don't get much better than this, and Casa Muñeca which sleeps 3 could not be situated in a more magical place. Located on one of the tangle of old narrow winding streets and lanes that make up the heart of the village, Casa Muñeca is located some midway between the apply named Eagle's Castle (Castillo del Águila) and the village center.
This Gaucín, single story house, cleaned and managed locally, has an abundance of style and immense warmth. Pretty as a picture inside, the house has the distinctive, traditional character of Southern Spain, with terracotta floors, hand-glazed local tiles, soft, relaxing colours and furnishings. For the cooler months an open log fire along with a gas fire and electric heating radiators, combine to give a warm cosy feel. Put simply Casa Muñeca stands out from other Andalucían cottages and combines the spectacular, breathtaking, natural surroundings of this part of inland Andalucía with excellent facilities - the kind of place you'll want to revisit time and time again.
A place where, from the terrace at the rear of Casa Muñeca, it's not unusual to see Eagles soaring overhead. Then looking down over the surrounding countryside towards the coast - over the valley of the Rio Genal, woods of Cork trees and craggy peaks - to see some 50 km distant, Gibraltar and the Mediterranean spread out below like some super sized map and on a clear day you can see beyond Europe over the straits of Gibraltar to Africa and the distant Rift mountains of Morocco.
