Very comfortable cottage re-furbished in 2015

Totally re-furbished two-bedroom cottage with superb open views from the back garden to the Tissington Trail. Ideal for a romantic getaway or for families looking for a relaxing retreat for walking and cycling. One double & one twin bedded room. Spacious kitchen dining area opening onto the back garden yard. Cosy wood burner and everything you need for a great escape! Dogs welcome, travel cot, high chair and stair gate available, safe bike storage, TV , DVD player and free Wi-Fi. TV has free HDMI and scart socket if you want to plug in either a games console or a video camera. Selection of DVD’s and music Cds hopefully to everyone’s taste! Phones and music players can be connected to the Hi-Fi music system, cable provided.

About John & Vanessa Marriott

Vanessa and John are pleased to introduce you to our new business Post Card Cottages. After a long career in Medical Sales and the Agricultural Supply trade we have decided to retire early and have a lifestyle change! Actually it is really a semi-retirement plan.

We love the Peak District and have wanted to move to Derbyshire for a long-time. We have spent many weekends and bank holidays walking in the Peak District and just love the area!

So over the last few years we have been planning how we might be able to live and retire to the area. Postcard Cottages is our new business venture and will have three or possibly four holiday cottages available to rent out as holiday cottages. Our aim is to offer lovely cottages in delightful locations furnished to a high standard. Where possible we are using up-cycled and refurbished furniture to give a contemporary and fresh feel.

Johns business is being sold in 2015 and this move has enabled us to get the plans going. In December 2014 we found our delightful cottage in the peaceful village of Biggin-by-Hartington. The property was purchased early in 2015. The property had been empty for over a year and was in need of some serious TLC! The builders got started in March 2015 initially knocking down the old garden shed and converting the downstairs bathroom extension into a lovely dining room space with views over the fields behind the house. The cottage felt homely as soon as you walked in. The heating was on it was very clean and tidy

Great location with safe enclosed gardens. Fresh eggs from the hens over the back wall. Fantastic access to the Tissington Trail from the fields directly from the back door.

Fantastic dog friendly cosy cottage

Excellent location, 5 mins walk from decent dog friendly pub. Close to Buxton, bakewell and Ashbourne. Definitely find the old dog pub near the stepping stones. Make sure you take dvd’s As WiFi not great, however scrabble, dominoes and cards were awesome! Radiator under coat rack excellent idea, and fresh eggs Just next door £1 for 6 a must. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage in the heart of The Peak District with walks from the door.

Thank you John and Vanessa for a lovely short break in your cosy cottage. We enjoyed walks from the door (The Tissington Trail just a field away), and warming up by the wood burner in the evening. The local pub was also a short walk away and offered tasty, home-cooked food. We also enjoyed exploring Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne, only a short drive away.

Plenty of local footpaths, the Tissington Trail is just 1/4 mile away either by road or across the fields. The trail is great for car free biking and walking. The trail is an old disused railway so is easy going. The Village Pub is The Waterloo Inn 01298 842 84 and there is a good restaurant at the hotel in the village; Biggin Hall 01298 844 51. Both the pub and the hotel take bookings.
