This traditional fisherman’s cottage in the scenic Black Isle is fully modernised to a high standard yet retains much of its late 19th century character. Situated in a quiet street in the village of Avoch, on the shores of the Beauly Firth, Margaret Street Cottage is ideal for a relaxing Highland holiday, offering comfortable, well-equipped self-catering accommodation in a peaceful setting.

Avoch has a convenience store, restaurant, pub and take-away restaurants, and Inverness is only twenty minutes away. Fortrose and Rosemarkie are a short drive away, where you’ll find a lovely links golf course, a renowned dolphin watching spot and a sandy beach.

Accommodation & Facilities

Ground floor: Lounge: three piece suite, wood burning stove, coffee table, Freeview colour TV and DVD player, plus a selection of DVDs, books and games.

Kitchen/diner: modern kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, and a dining table with seating for six.

Bathroom: fully modernised bathroom with electric over-bath shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail.

Upper floor:

Bedrooms: double bedroom and twin bedroom with bedside cabinets, table lamps and clothes storage units. The twin room has a small fold down bed suitable for a young child.

Outside:

The property has an enclosed and secluded garden, an outside drying area and a patio with table and chairs.

There is parking outside the cottage and additional parking less than 50 metres away.

Bed linen, towels, electricity and logs for the stove are included in the price.

Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome at no extra charge.

No smoking is permitted within the holiday home.

Short breaks are available and any-day entry for weekly bookings.

Car: recommended

Travelling north on the A9, cross the Kessock Bridge and continue on the A9 for approximately 3 miles. Turn right at the sign for ‘Black Isle, Munlochy’. Drive through Munlochy, turning right at the T junction when you leave the village and follow the signs for Avoch. Drive through Avoch and turn right shortly after the convenience store onto Margaret Street – the cottage, no 17, is the 3rd on the right.

A perfect country cottage

This accommodation was my favourite on a 4 week trip from Australia.

The cottage was clean, well cared for & provided everything we needed including wood for a cosy fire. The location was a perfect country village... great food at the pub & a brilliant fish & chip shop for a takeaway meal. It was a short drive to Inverness & a couple of hours to the Isle of Skye. I enjoyed the fact that there was no WiFi!!!!

The host was very helpful . All in all I'd stay there again.

Autumn break ...

Thoroughly enjoyed our week in Margaret Street cottage. Cottage was delightful, very well equipped, clean and warm. Ideal location for walking with our two dogs both locally in Avoch and only 5 minutes drive to the beach at Fortrose and Rosemarkie. Will almost certainly be back in the Spring.

2nd visit to Margaret street

This was our second visit to this cottage, everything you require for a comfortable stay is provided.

Had the opportunity to use the wood burner in the evening, plenty of sticks and logs available.

The back garden is a sun trap, we were lucky enough to have breakfast outside and also to sit and enjoy the last of the sun at the end of the day.

Would definitely recommend, quite sure we will be back.

Great location, real value for money.

Lovely little cottage, recently decorated to a good standard in an excellent location. Lovely little coastal village with good Chinese and Indian takeaways, with an excellent fish and chip shop further down. There is also a small Co Op on the Main Street, just up from the pub, which serves good food Monday to Saturday.

However...

No wifi was a real negative, particularly as you have to go outside to get a mobile phone signal.

Also did not like not having full control of the heating and hot water, we are not children.

If those two points were rectified I would definitely go back.

Avoch is a great locationnd the property was full of character and charm. Thoughtfully kitted out.

We became very fond of this property and miss it a lot. The enclosed garden was a wee sun trap and we miss bumping our heads on the angled ceilings upstairs. We will definitely be back. Our sons loved it too as did our fluffy companions. All in all - a lovely stay.
