Hi, I'm Richard, I have been renting property for almost 30 years both here and in my native England. I will do all I can to make your stay as pleasant and as comfortable as possible.
I've been living in Madrid for over 25 years now and I'm happy to share information about where to go, where to eat etc.
Richard purchased this apartment in 1993
My wife and I purchased this apartment in 1993 to live there. The same month we signed the deeds, we found out we where going to be parents and never actually moved in.
We decided to keep the apartment as we love it. It's bright and charming, it's hard to find a centrally located flat in a such a quiet neighbourhood.
You can walk just about everywhere and the metro (subway) is just three minutes. You are in the heart of the old city; however, a good night's sleep is guaranteed as you can't hear any noise at night.
Your apartment in Madrid was clean, comfortable, reasonably spacious, quiet, and charming. It has all the necessary amenities and is conveniently located. We would stay there again. We appreciated you taking time to give us a brief history of Madrid, answer our questions, and make recommendations. We wouldn't not have received that in a hotel. Your accommodations contributed significantly to our awesome time in Spain. Thanks!
Our stay at the apartment was great! It was more than comfortable for 4 adults and had everything we needed. The apartment towels and bedding were all very clean. The location was fantastic close to everything and subway to get further afield. The owner is very helpful and accommodated us well!
Boy, the other reviewers weren’t kidding about the steps… Overall this was a good apartment. It is showing some age, and could use a little freshening up. The location was perfect for us – we wanted to be a little closer to the train station as we were hauling luggage. To get to the tourist center (Puerta del Sol) is a 10-15 minute walk, with lots of stores and restaurants along the way.
You could jam up to four people in this apartment, but I think any more than two would be uncomfortable. It is a bit smaller than it appears in the photos.
The owner (Richard) was unable to meet us, and left us to be greeted by one of his staff. It all turned out OK, but we did have to work thru a language barrier.
We did have some problems with noise – the bedroom is adjacent to the staircase, and you can hear everything that goes up or down.
Great location! Comfortable, good for people traveling light. Close to museums, shopping and nightlife.
We loved the location of this clean and efficient apartment. The only negative for us was the bed. A bit small for my tall husband. Richard was wonderful and accommodating. We had a great time in Madrid and our neighborhood.
The apartment is in a great location, and we were able to walk to all the major sites. The kitchen was well equipped, we especially appreciated the stove top coffee maker, and the supplies were generous. It was very hot during our visit and the air conditioner worked wonderfully, and with the windows closed the apartment was very quiet. The washing machine and line right out the bathroom window were a bonus! The shower is small, and there are quite a few stairs to climb, but these are minor concerns. Thank you Richard, we had a wonderful stay at your apartment.

Richard's apartment is just fine, Richard very responsive to any questions. We were happy with our stay.
Just to reiterate others' reviews: there are 56 steps to climb to get to the apartment, the stairway is wide but the stairs are a little uneven so be careful the first few trips. The apartment is small -- but as a couple, we were quite comfortable staying there for 13 days (we do, however, travel very light). The bathroom is small -- if you are over 100kg, you may feel a tad cramped in the shower -- but there is endless hot water as a compensation. The kitchen has very basic equipment so if you are not too interested in cooking, you will be just fine: we do like to cook so did feel a bit challenged. Overall, we found the building itself to be clean and quiet and exactly as described.
The BEST thing about the apartment is the location -- it is in the centre of pretty much everything (with lovely local cafes just outside the door; a 24 hour Mercado down the hill; and if you want public transit, a Metro station just up the hill). We would not hesitate to stay again -- especially if there were a few more kitchen utensils!
The apartment is very central, you can walk just about everywhere of interest & just 3 minutes walk to Anton Martin or Lavapies metro stations. The street it's on is relatively quiet & everything on the doorstep, Bars, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, supermarket & a great fresh food narket all minutes away, Ideal if you want to experience a true Madrid neighbourhood
