The little palace where the apartment is situated the pearl was built several centuries ago - as most of the Venetian buildings- and it Has Been difficult to restore to its original state.
Two full years of intense restoration has recuperated its artistic and cultural beauty so well known all over the world.
The main structure Has Been kept two to strict rules of our monument conservation superintendent That forbids futuristic transformations.
PEARL apartment has three areas about the same size and facing the canal. We were incendio Obtain a large living room, a medium kitchen, three bedrooms, two large bathrooms without changing the outside looks fantastic. From each room you can enjoy a unique view on the canal and mostly open space around.
The floors are in jroko wood cut in large boards and inserted along the wall in a wide sheet of Istrian stone (recuperated from the restoration) and treated with bee wax. This gives an extraordinary brightness to the room.
The bathrooms are really luxurious all in marble. The bathroom with bathtub is in Peach of Verona marble recalling the Istrian stone of the other room.
The bathroom with twin lavatories and shower is travertine flowery marble and stone.
The original ceiling beams and the faux finishing of the walls, as well as all other details speak of a true venetian house.
The furnishing is elegant. We chose good quality for the beds, the furniture and the well equipped kitchen. Avoiding any exaggeration. You have all the space to create your own atmosphere. The location of the house is rather central Within walking distance you can reach the Academy area, the Saint Rocco and Frari churches. In 15 minutes you can go to Saint Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace, street on March 22 with its famous boutiques.
If you want to rest for a while you can sit in one of the small cafe in the least squares inhabited by Venitians and not invaded by tourists. You can stroll in Saint Barnabas square or along the Zattere facing the basin. In the evening you can have a full immersion in the very lively Campo Santa Margherita, general meeting point for a sprtiz, a typical Venetian aperitif.
This is our Venice, the Venice we like to offer you.
Wonderful apartment, beautiful view, quiet neighborhood, wifi works great. Central location. Very happy. Thank you Irene for letting us use your beautiful apartment.
This apt is best of both worlds: quiet and spacious, but 5 minute walk to water taxi and 10 minute walk to attractions. The only drawback for some may be 3rd floor with no elevator, but it was no problem for us. Plenty of room for family of 5 (14-70+) and greeting service was prompt. Great options for dining 5 minutes away (don't miss Pizzeria Profeta). We walked the entire city twice in 2 days and then settled in to this comfortable apt away from the crowds. Bellissimo!
Our five day stay in this apartment was a perfect end to our month long visit to Italia. We were able to stretch out in the spacious rooms and rest after our active painting retreat in the hilltop towns of Benabbio and Lucchio. The location of Irene's apartment in Dosoduro was close to Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim, but in a peaceful area with canal views from our double glazed windows. The apartment is secure and beautifully appointed. After each day of rambling around the campos of Venezia we looked forward to coming home, having a long bath and putting our feet up before going out to dinner at one of several excellent ristorantes within easy walking distance. Our favourite was Pano Vino e San Daniele in campo dell'Angelo Raffaele. We experienced an acqua alta whilst in Venezia and walked around San Marco piazza in rubber boots. However our apartment location was more elevated and our Calle did not flood. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a comfortable place to stay in Venezia. Oh I meant to add that our welcoming person was most friendly and helpful to us during our stay.
My family enjoyed 2 nights in this apartment. It was clean and the views were awesome as they looked right out onto the canal. In terms of the location, it was off the grand canal (which was good for us) but near everything you need, including a grocery store, water taxi stop, fresh bread and a small square with restaurants and shops. The service was not so great as the woman who checked us in seemed rushed and overwhelmed by the number of properties she managed. When we called her for help with our transfer, she didn't get back to us. But if you're OK going it alone and are looking for a mid-range apartment in a great location to experience Venice, this is a good choice.
We had a wonderful stay during our three days in Venice. The flat was in a beautiful location, right along a quiet canal, slightly off the beaten track but close to restaurants, shopping, and the Grand Canal. The furnishings were lovely, with tasteful decorations, beautiful bathrooms, and nice antiques. The kitchen is small, but it had everything we needed. We are a family of five, and this flat was exactly the right size, with one room for the parents, one for our daughters, and one for our son. We arrived quite late, but a very friendly greeter met us at the parking area and walked us to the flat. We would highly recommend this property!
Great spot, really close to San Basilio ferry stop, 15 minutes ride to San Marco.
The apartment, 3 bed, 2 bath is roomy, clean and well furnished, AC. Supermarket is really close, also bank and restaurants.
Giulia met us when we arrived at the ferry stop and showed us the apartment and near by stores. The price was right, we highly recommend this place.
Dorsoduro is one of the most beautiful district of Venice. It houses some of the most picturesque canals and palaces, and some of the town's great art showcases, without the pretension and tourist traps That you might expect. It's a student area, home to Venice's Ca 'Foscari University, and has Opinions more late-night drinking bars than the rest of Venice. The general vibe is artistic, youthful and relaxed.
The district's hub is Campo Santa Margherita, a long field fulfils Which just about every function of a public square: in the daytime you'll find a market, children playing, antique stalls, locals walking dogs, a supermarket and cafes. In the evening this Becomes Venice's liveliest nightspot - Although That is not saying a lot in this city tame. Still, the bars are open until midnight or later, and throngs of young people gather here to sip the occasional drink and to catch up with friends.
In Dorsoduro you can find the most important museums and art galleries of the city such as Accademia galleries, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Punta della Dogana (modern art galleries situated in a wonderful location recently restored by Tadao Ando) and Ca 'Rezzonico museum (a museum of the 18th Century in a beautiful Venetian palace on the Grand Canal).
Anche There are many important churches, as the church of Health (very important for Venetians for the Madonna della Salute feast on 21st November), San Sebastian (almost Entirely decorated by Paolo Veronese, who is buried here anche) and the Church of the Carmini (large church with paintings by Lorenzo Lotto and Cima da Conegliano. The adjacent school has a ceiling by Giambattista Tiepolo).
Just a 5 minutes walk and you will reach anche the Frari with Titian's and Bellini's painting.
One of the most characteristic place in Dorsoduro and in the whole Venice is the Squero of San Trovaso (a small boatyard for making gondolas).
The eastern end of the rafts (a long promenade That the faces of Giudecca Canal and Giudecca island), along by Venice's old salt storehouses, can be empty and atmospheric. The western section, where you'll find bars and a kiosk selling drinks, is where locals go to bask in the spring sunshine.
If there are Biennale shows hosted there, or by special appointment, try to visit the glamorous Palazzo Zenobio on Fondamenta del Soccorso, with its Baroque ballroom and grand garden pavilion. It's now an Armenian institute, and offers cheap hostel-type accommodation (see our links panel).
About eating and drinking, Dorsoduro has the usual tourist restaurants, but anche plenty of cheap places for the students and resident people.
