Not worth the money

  • 1 of 5

The dryer was broken and the owner did not tell us to leave the key in the lockbox for the repair company. A simple email would have been nice. There was molded food in the refrigerator. It had thick white mold, nasty! There was mold in the kitchen cabinets. The hot tub water was foggy and 1/2 of the blowers were broken. The deck is uneven and tilted, so the hot tub water splashed out on first use making the blowers on the other side below water level. Those were the ones that worked. The pictures make the house look like it sits on the river/creek. IT DOES NOT!! The house is across the street from the river and the dam is a Duke Energy dam, so you can't fish in that water hole.

The area is amazing! There's lots to do. It was a blast! We'll be booking with another cabin or company the next time we visit Nantahala.

Owner's Response: As soon as the dryer was reported a repair technician was sent to fix it. No mention was ever made of any food missed by our cleaning crew. We will talk to them about missing that in the fridge. There is a river across the road from our cabin that is fully accessible by the public for playing in and fishing if you would like to do so. As with all public utilities duke energy post signs clearly stating that you cannot use or fish on any dams. This is one little 50 foot area that is restricted in this entire river. We are sorry that you didnt understand that all other areas of the river that have no signs stating that it was restricted and you could fish and explore unlimited miles of rivers and waterfalls. We appreciate your feedback on the jacuzzi since you are the first person to inform us that there was an issue with it. We will have our maintenance people check it out to see what could cause some of the jets not to work. Thanks Greg

Clean and private

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was very clean and the location was great for privacy and disconnecting, however we had a few issues. The pictures of the water were quite misleading, it is down across the highway and you cannot go to it per signs starting if you do you can be jailed. Also none of the outlets in the upstairs bathroom worked at all, the shower head barely puts out water after you finally get it to engage, and the dryer when running makes a horribly loud screeching sound. We still enjoyed our trip to this lovely area and will definitely be back, just probably not to this same cabin.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your trip. The Nantahala area is beautiful. The signs were posted at the Dam area only, which is across the 2 lane road from the Cabin. The rest of the River is Public Access and has many areas were you can pull off and go down to the River to fish, etc.. The outlets in the upstairs bathroom worked but the GFI switches were tripped. Thanks for letting us know after you left about the Dryer making a loud noise. Our repair company fixed it. Thanks.

Nice cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice and roomy. The only thing is that it is too far away from everywhere . It's almost an hour's drive to the next big city.
