Villa Guney is situated in Dalyan, Turkey. Dalyan is a special & unique town which is overlooked by ancient Lycian Rock Tombs which are the last resting places of the Kings of Kaunos. The Dalyan canal goes through the village on its way from Koycegiz Lake to the beach so the riverside is a great place to take a boat trip to one of the ancient sites in the area. Dalyan offers something for everyone whilst maintaining a wonderful friendly atmosphere.
Dalyan Beaches: Dalyan Beach is a 7km long protected sandy beach. It is where the endangered Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta Caretta) lay their eggs. The beach can be reached by minibus or by a relaxing taxi boat ride on the Dalyan Canal from the waterfront. The beach was recently voted as one of the top ten best beaches in Europe. There are also 2 other beaches, close to Dalyan Sarigerme beach - with fine white sand - and Ekincik Bay which is a popular day trip, via boat taxi, from Dalyan.
The Kings Tombs: The existance of the ruins of Caunos was first discovered in the year 1842 and excavations have been carried on there by the Turkish archaeologists since 1967. Archaeological remains include tombs in the Lycean style, medieval walls of the acropolis and a Roman fountain dedicated to Vespersianus as well as remains of four temples and Roman baths. If you don't want a guided tour to Caunos you can take a small boat from the far end of the harbour & from there the walk in approx. 15 minutes to Kaunos.
Mud Baths: The Dalyan mud baths not only cleanse and tone the skin but is said to remedy rheumatism and have anti-ageing properties, plus they are terrific fun for all the family! After allowing the mud to dry it is removed in a natural clear water sulphur pool, at temperatures of 40C (104F), leaving you refreshed and relaxed. The mud baths and hot springs can easily be reached by taxi boat and can be part of a tour if you prefer.
