Nice with friendly owners but trouble with pool

  • 3 of 5

The villa is in a great location not too far from the airport, local shops and the beach.

As described it's a spacious two bedroom accommodation with garden and space for parking. We were provided with utensils and other useful equipment for our holiday. Additionally the owners were friendly.

The only negatives were concerning the following:

- No hot water available in the shower until the second day of the holiday. When the engineer did visit it was found that the batteries used were flat. Also the water was either extremely hot or cold until I manually adjusted the settings myself.

- No air conditioning meant the place was very uncomfortable given the hot weather and was difficult to sleep in at night.

- The pool needed cleaning by ourselves for up to an hour a day. This was due to the high number of flies and other insects that would enter the pool during the day. We booked the place to be able to use our own pool but did not expect to spend so much time each day to clean it. Not cleaning the pool would have rendered it unhygienic. A recommendation for the owners would be to purchase a cover to be used during the day or a better filtering system to prevent the need for guests to manually clean the pool each day.

- The ladder provided for the pool was unstable and was a safety hazard which could have caused one of us to slip and fall.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tres Pinos. A lovely rural retreat with everything you need for an lovely time away. Felt very relaxed and felt like we really had a break from everyday life. The location was excellent and the beach restaurants and shops were all very close. We were met on arrival by Jason (the owner) who has been very helpful and very contactable during our stay. Thank you Jason. Overall we would highly recommend a stay at Tres Pinos we have had a super holiday.

Location

Villa Tres Pinos is situated near Sant Lluis, a historic town, founded by the French and built around a large Church. Enjoy the local winery, excellent restaurants and even the traditional horse 'trotting' races!

Son Bou: is one or our favourite beaches on Menorca. A gloriously uncrowded and natural beach with Turquoise water and soft fine sand. Set back from the beach are a selection of beach bars, restaurants and shops.

Binisafua-Platja: is a small coastal village and typically Spanish. The delightful sandy beach, with whitewashed church along with several 'hidden' coves, give you plenty of private swimming locations.

Mahon: became the island's capital in 1722 - moved by the British from the Ciutadella. White-washed Regency and Georgian houses cling to the cliff face that surounds the harbour. It has strong connections with British naval history - admirals Nelson and Collingwood stayed there - while it also plays an important part in Richard O'Brien's series of novels.
