Beautiful house in lovely position

  • 5 of 5

It was a privilege to stay in this wonderful house, which has been owned by the same family for several generations. Carmen and Fatima were very welcoming and Juan was always available to help solve any issue promptly and efficiently. We were two couples and we enjoyed all the different spaces in the house to eat, read and relax. It's unusual to find 3 comfortable double bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. Two of them have balconies looking out to the ocean, and we all loved waking up to the view of Gomera.

The house is very quiet and peaceful and it was interesting to be living, in effect, in the midst of the banana plantation, without in any way feeling enclosed. The swimming pool terrace was a great place to sit and read and had sun for most of the day. The shady terraced area just outside the kitchen was perfect for breakfast and indeed for all meals but there's also a very attractive dining table and chairs for the occasional evening when the temperature drops.

We managed to walk into Puerto Santiago and Los Gigantes a few times but it was useful to have a car, and the walk might challenge people who are not keen walkers.

An Oasis of Calm

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful old finca, set in a banana plantation, with stunning views to the south over La Gomera. It has a spacious lounge / dining area and extensive outside areas for eating / sun bathing.

Carmen and her family are delightful and most welcoming.

You are in the nicest part of the island and just a few minutes from Los Gigantes. There are good small shops - baker, butcher and fish shop (ask for details from Carmen) - a short distance away in Alcala and Playa San Juan. They make all the difference to a good, as distinct from average, self-catering holiday. In Playa San Juan there is an excellent - and very cheap - fish restaurant / cafe in the port which is worth searching out.

The new western connection to the motorway (opened 30th Dec) reduces the time from the airport to roughly 30min.

We simply loved it.

Good surroundings, house needs attention

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful surroundings, very quiet and charming, amazing view from the pool area. Large house, old, very Spanish and somewhat dark, but also authentic and charming. Kitchen not up to the standard you would expect, needs renovation. Fridge very old and not very clean. Very little water, and no hot water in kitchen. Landlady promised repair. No doors between bedrooms and lavatories, only a curtain. Nice pool, very clean and well kept. Shared with inhabitants of other house. Very friendly landlady and staff.

Owner's Response: We advise that the water would be repaired, but we needed one day, there is already plenty of hot and cold water in the kitchen. Also today we have placed a new refrigerator.

La Casa Grande- an amazing location and a beautiful character house.

  • 5 of 5

We visited Tenerife in October and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Location of the house is amazing if you are looking for an experience rather then crowded hotels. The house is very spacious, we absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend it! Carmen was so welcoming and the gardener is very friendly and kind. Book it without hesitation!!!

Family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We hired the Villa for the week in July and it was absolutely amazing. Carmen was an excellent host and the villa was amazing. The house was very spacious, clean and presentable. If you looking for a nice quiet place to just relax in the sun and take a well earned holiday, then this villa is for you. The pool area has a large pool, BBQ (which we used a lot) and amazing views. The house was equipped with everything you needed and it was a truly wonderful quiet place to stay. The villa is on a hill, so walking down to the supermarket and the local town was not an option, so make sure you hire a car for convenience or the local taxi are cheap. Overall brilliant holiday and lovely villa. We will definitely be looking to go back soon. Thanks Carmen.
