This home is perfect for resting, relaxation, restoring. It is fantastic for preparing meals as a group and having a decadent dinners with close friends or colleagues. This home is for mature guests who can appreciate the peace and serenity of this bucolic setting.
There are three buildings on the property and you will have access to two ( the main house and gym/studio) plus all the amenities. The third building is the proprietors who maybe on premise and may periodically need access to the basement.
There are many great homes in this area. Although our home is truly a retreat. I once wanted to own a spa and the closest I have come is adding endless amenities. The grounds are beautifully landscaped allowing for a walking meditation admiring the wonders of nature.
Using our outdoor walking labyrinth calms your mind as you weave into the center and out. Adjacent is the hot tub to soak your weary bones.
The outdoor living room cabana is equipped with a gorgeous stone fireplace ( we provide the wood for your convenience use as much as you like additional fee does apply). A glass of wine and the flames of a fire are a great way to end a summers day. Lounge by the pool and or revitalize in the sauna, you choose. Keep in mind the pool is open seasonally.
We have a king, full, queens and one twin mattress on the second floor (which sleep seven people). The porch has two twins and a full mattress and can sleep four. The heated porch is perfect for overflow, there is a full bed and two twin mattresses. There is one queen size bed and a futon in the studio above the gym. Keep in mind the outbuilding is a rustic experience and does not contain a bathroom.
More simplified :
3 twin mattresses
( several air mattresses)
The only question you will be asking yourself each day is which means should I use today to relax? Perhaps take a bath in the claw foot tub surrounded by candles in the master bedroom? Or indulge in a steam shower? Or lounge on the deck off the master bedroom? Or do you love to cook?
Our sunlight kitchen with Viking stove with 6 burners and griddle allows for plenty of creativity and hours of entertaining.
One charming feature of being in the Garrison area are dirt roads and driveways. We are preserving this feature and have a dirt driveway (A wet spring could mean a little mud).
Wireless internet and cable are available.
We are a two minute drive to the Metro North Hudson line train station or a 15 minute walk.
Lastly, we thrive on feedback and suggestions only in this way can we continue to enhance the beauty of this retreat space. If you rent with us know that you can contact us anytime to assist in making your stay delightful.
Some of our guests have rented this home for corporate retreats, special small birthday parties celebrating 30's, 40's, 50's ( groups of 8-10 ) etc,as headquarters for a local wedding ( the bridal party gets ready at the house and heads out to the event) and more.
Lots of options. What are you waiting?

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2000
We started looking for a home as close as 30 minutes to Manhattan but could not find what we needed. Upon entering the town of Garrison we knew we had found home. Imagine a rural setting within one hour of Manhattan. Plus we are a two minute car ride to the train station. Having the ex -governor who is an outdoor enthusiast helps in preservation of this charming town.
Privacy is one of the many features enjoyed at this home. The lot is considered to be flagpole shaped which means we have a long driveway and the neighbors are not pressed up beside us. The 50 acres and horses across the street are an additional bonus.
We recently spent a weekend at this Garrison, NY home. The farmhouse has a lot of charm and character. Everything was clean and well maintained. It was a great set-up for our group of 5 adults, while visiting our son who is a cadet at West Point. The house is well equipped, and we genuinely enjoyed the indoor AND the outdoor living space. We did not use the workout facility or the separate sleeping quarters. There is a grocery store, a pharmacy and restaurants 5 minutes away in Cold Spring. We even had a cookout and served hamburgers to 20 guests on Friday night of our stay, which was easy to pull off - good gas grill, outdoor fireplace, great indoor kitchen and dinning areas inside and outside. The home is about a 20 minute drive to West Point, so that was easy for our group. Claudine was easy to work with, and we will definitely plan to stay here again.
Claudine is one of the most accommodating owners and truly concerned about making your stay the best it can be. The home is stocked with everything that you could need as if staying in a hotel. All linens, pool towels, paper products, shower products provided . Outside covered pool cabana was a treat to relax .
Claudine's home is a stunning country retreat. It is in great condition and the perfect charming getaway home. Tucked back in a private clearing the home is a wonderful way to experience upstate New York without traveling to far from the city. Claudine keeps the place in great condition and goes out of her way to make you and your guests feel comfortable. We had a wonderful experience and would love to go back there.
We're a family of 22 from Boston and New York coming together for dad 80 th bday. Getting a house with such a large group and meeting our budget was a challenge. It seemed like no one wanted host such a large group. But Claudine, the host, welcomed us! She worked with us for weeks trying to accommodated our large group. She went out of her to make sure we had a home that meet our needs. We stayed at the big yellow farmhouse for a long weekend.
The rustic luxury farmhouse had 4 extra air mattresses that were filled and covered with bedding and everyone had a space to sleep.
Claudine was low impact, responsive and non intrusive. Would stay here again. The grounds are beautiful and the pool cabana area is great for outdoor BBQ
When I first contacted Claudine regarding this rental, I informed her that our party included 10 people of which there was my husband, myself & son, -nephew, mother, sister, 2 sisters in law and 1 additional married couple. Other than my son and nephew no one in my party was under 50 yrs old. That being said she assured me that the house could sleep up to 14.
Here is the reality of this rental... 1 king bed master, 1 queen bed children's room (small) with a trundle bed beneath , one twin bed in 2nd child's room small with a trundle beneath,(both kids room, when pulled out no room to move about the room). All additional bedding must be set up by you (pulling out of beds from underneath storage) Neither bed rises so occupant sleeps basically on floor. Remaining bedding in the main house is comprised of 1 saggy sofa and a a full/ queen beed on a 3 season porch and 1 saggy couch in living room. There is the option to use inflatable mattresses in these rooms and there is a mattress on the floor over the garage, which has no bathroom and is not connected to the house. You must walk down a very small STEEP SPIRAL staircase and then outside walk across the yard to use the facilities (a problem at night?).
By my standards if you say it sleeps 14 there should be beds for 14 and if not, actual bedding the description of how the bedding will be arranged should be disclosed. Also remember only 2 bathrooms for 14 people. The house is not anywhere (in my opinion) rental clean. It might be have the family and friends over clean, but definitely not rental clean.
Finally, Claudine is not professional in her actions as a renter. She entered the premises several times over our rental period one time using the kitchen and basement to make punch for a different client while we were not in the home (kind of an issue fro me?). She did ask, but at this point what are we suppose to say "no?" Be aware that the family will be living on the premises in a very small building on the property across the yard.
Would I recommend this house - I would definitely suggest a visit to confirm that this will work for you. My son was moved from Class of 2015 to Class of 2016 as a result of a training injury. We were unable to guarantee graduation until February of 2016 so we were scrambling and not able to visit before renting. I guess it depends on your needs and your expectations. It fell well below mine in product and professionalism.
I found that the house was a fairly good fit for the group of about 12 that I had for three nights and three days. The kitchen island was good for serving the group, and the hot tub was certainly popular. We were also not overly concerned with noise or privacy due to the secluded nature of the house being on a hill, so that was a bonus. The owners were friendly, and provided plenty of linens and such up front for us to utilize. On one night, a few of us found a bowling alley to try about 15 minutes away.
My only really poignant recalling is that their is somewhat of a lack of seating for a large group all in one place at one time. We could seat about 8 to 9 individuals in the living room with the large television, but that was with the stools from the close-by kitchen island. We brought in other furniture such as a bench from the adjoining room, but it was still the slightest bit awkward. All in all, there is enough room for a sizable group to get together, but staying together in the same area is probably not the most comfortable.
