The 4 person apartment is situated in the scenic resort of La Grande Terche, which is a part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. The apartment complex, L’ Ourson, was built in 2004 in a traditional French Alps style as not to spoil the surrounding beauty. The apartment is fitted to a good standard with WIFI and 32'' digital TV (500+ channels) DVD player and complete self-catering fixtures and fittings. There is one double bedroom, a separate bathroom with shower and toilet. A bunk-bed area and a living room with a kitchenette and double sleeper sofa bed. There is parking available. The apartment is 5 minutes walk to the main lift (the start of the skiing area) and it is possible to ski back to the apartment building in the winter! There's also ski hire shops, skiing school, bars and restaurants in the village.

Excellent location, clean and exactly as per the description.
Ski'd for a week in dec/jan 2017, as per the description we were able to ski in/ ski out, apt is right above the Gondola at LGT.
Before departure the owner sent clear instructions on everything from the best route to take to switching the water on, on arrival everything was simple and where it was supposed be and it all worked.
The apartment was clean with plenty of of everything needed for our stay & in my opinion there was plenty of room for our party of 2 adults and 2 children.
An added attraction was the very cheap ski passes for the Roc d'enfer ski area and the "Circuit De Enfer " was indeed pleasant sking.
The Village of LGT is also very pleasant with a few nice bars, restaurants, a small shop, ski shop etc all in a nice quiet package.
All in All I would be happy to recommend the apartment and the area.
Happy holidays ..
Perfect ski apartment
We were looking for a late season long weekend to chill out, enjoy the last of the snow and have some good meals. La Grande Terche is a nice, quiet and friendly ski village with everything we needed.
Apartment was very clean. It is equipped with everything you need to prepare meals and relax after a day on the mountain. Plenty of hot water (which can be a rarity in ski apartments). Easy to find and great access to village restaurants, bars and ski lift (all a few hundred yards away). We parked the car and didn't need it again. Great value. Owner is very helpful and went out of his way to help us with some good local tips. All in you could pay a lot more elsewhere and get a lot less.
2010/11 Ski Holiday
This is a lovely modern apartment, well equipped, warm and at the end of a corridor, so relatively quiet - more so than the majority of apartments I have used. It was ideal for 2 adults/2 children, but has enough equipment for 6. It has a huge ski locker too, making storage.
There are a couple of restaurants at resort level – we tried one, Chez Bill, which was good. The bar we used (under Muffat’s ski shop) serves a cracking Mojito and the staff really friendly. Re ski hire - whilst I haven’t checked this out, I think it would be worth pre-booking online your ski/boot hire with Muffat, as I suspect it would be a good bit cheaper than just turning up.
Whilst LGT is a fairly small resort, it is perfect for families with young children who are in their first few seasons skiing. It’s not crowded and there is plenty for the beginner to get their teeth into. For intermediates there is a fantastic red run ‘loop’ which goes on forever through beautiful tree lined scenery and there are a couple of stops to recharge the batteries along the way. At the end of the day it’s also good to be able to ski right into the apartment block’s car park and out again to get to the gondola, which we could, after they had had good snow falls just prior to our week.
I believe it’s fair to say that if you are an intermediate skier, LGT is a bit limited; however it’s really easy to get to the various lift systems by car, which will get you into Morzine/Avoriaz/Les Gets (Portes du Soleil) – which is vast and caters for every ability. There is a limited bus service; but it’s a bit of a hassle unless you catch the right connections.
The lift passes for the Portes du Soleil (not the cheaper LGT passes), whilst not cheap, appear to be better value than Tignes/Val d’Isere. Some of the views up there are spectacular and make the additional cost, over the cost of the LGT pass, worthwhile. Lastly, if you want an additional thrill, try the snowmobiling above Super Morzine - fantastic!! 80kph uphill on a freshly groomed piste, before running out of space, takes some beating! Kids need to be 10+.
Joe, the owner, is a lovely guy (I have met him) and is really helpful. One tip - having just returned myself after New Year, and also having spoken to Joe, try and leave the Alps early in the morning. The hike up north on the autoroutes and through the tolls is, at times, laborious with heavy traffic. It’s worth getting up early! All in all a great place to ski.
2 Years Running...and we'd go back!
4 adults just had a fantastic week's skiing. Apartment is clean, warm, well equipped and is in an excellent location for the slopes....it's possible to ski down to the gondola after just a few yards of walking with your equipment. The keys were available immediatley on arrival. I think 6 adults would find the apartment a little cramped, but with a couple of kiddies it would be fine.
Le Grand Terche is a lovely little resort with it's own small but perfectly adequate ski resort...and the ski passes are very cheap! It is no more than a 20 minute drive to the Ardent lift up to Avoriaz, where the skiing is fantastic, and not much further to Les Gets and Morzine.
The small supermarket is perfectly adequate for most shopping, but the much larger Carrefour in St Jean d'Aulpes has everything one could possibly want if you have a car to get there.
Restaurants in the resort are limited but both we have eaten in were lovely.
Would like to recommend the restaurant at the top of the gondola (the one furthest from the gondola on the left) where the food at lunchtimes was always good and the owner ( I presume, who is English) was very nice after I had a bit of a tumble!!
Would love to see the place in the summer...am sure it would be beautiful then too!
Just got back
Myself and my wife and 3 young children just go back from this apartment.
Lovely place, great views all the facilities we needed.
Had much contact with the owner (Joe) before the holiday and gave us loads of info and was really helpful.
It is possible to ski back to the apartment from the piste and it is a beautiful location.
La Grande Terche, a great skiing area.
We were 2 familes to visit this area for the first time. We were very pleased. The apartment was close to Telecabin and the shops, resturants. From La Grande Terche is easy to go to Avoriaz and Morzine where you find al ot of skiing. It´s a beautiful area. I´ll recommend this place.
Per from Sweden
La Grande Terche is a traditional resort catering for both winter and summer season. The resort has been developed to follow the traditional Savoie style so not to spoil the beautiful surroundings and the views from La Grande Terche are quite breathtaking.
La Grande Terche has 34km of skiing entering three different valleys, and has 14 lifts directly accessible from the village which offers slopes suitable for families and beginners - away from the rush of some of the more crowded main resort slopes. For the more experienced or adventurous skier the resorts of Morzine-Avoriaz is 15 minutes drive away as is the Ardent lift both of which offer quick access quick access to over 650km of linked skiing in the Portes du Soleil.
La Grande Terche has several restaurants which offer a variety of cuisine, bars, ski-hire shops, mini market, launderette and ski-schools.
La Grande Terche is just over an hours drive from Geneva making it one of the most access from the UK.
