The linen and towels were clean and the flat is in a great location. Most other aspects of this accommodation are awful. The place is generally suffering from neglect. It's shabby; in need of a deep clean; and major refurbishment. The list of faults includes: seriously noisy plumbing; no shower as such, just an ancient mixer handset in the bath with no rail; long standing grime behind the toilet; shabby repairs in the bathroom; no wardrobe (4 hangers on an open rail in the bedroom); unpainted woodwork in the lounge; uncomfortable, basic furniture; unwatchable TV due to poor aerial arrangements; noise from the hall area via an uninsulated, unused front door. The problems reveal themselves as the stay wears on. More than a couple of days in this flat is difficult to tolerate. We complained and were moved for the final 2 days of our stay to a better flat upstairs - owned by the same proprietors.
The apt was in an excellent position and lovely from the outside but was dreadfully let down by condition of the interior in general. The bath had mould around the grouting which is inexcusable. It would not take long to remove old mastic and replace with new. The cold tap had to be held in place as it would swivel round. The bathroom door has a lump out of it at the bottom . Plumblng was extremely noisy ,The apt was not particularly clean the blinds had a layer of dust . The apt front door very unappealing, it was an interior glass living room door.
It was very comfortable and the booking was straight forward. We were kept in touch of any changes to our booking, and everything went very smoothly. Our only criticism, the plumbing was extremely noisy, but we put this down to the age of the building, which, however, was beautiful. Hayley was very helpful whenever we had a query.
I am afraid but my review won't be a good one : we weren't pleased with our stay in 1 Eliott Terrace.
When we arrived, we can't open any windows in the flat and no mechanical ventilation and it was a problem for my husband who had an asthma crisis with the carpet and the unhealty air. Thanks to your help, a worker fixed the windows of the bedroom and it was better, but you'll have to fix the other windows. It's not normal to pay 500 £ for 3 days and not to be able to refresh the air in the flat !
Here are the other problems :
- the toilets are very noisy : hopefully, we had no
- the work in the next appartement started at 7:45 : it's a bit early
- the dvd player does not work : it lacks the proper cable to connected to the TV. and it'a pity because there were interesting DVD to see !
- the cold water tap must be fixed because it moves
- it lacks curtains in the living room
- the curtain rail is not properly secured in the bedroom
- some pillowcases smelled of cigarette
- in the kichen, some cupboard door moves
For all this reasons, the stay was very expensive. We expected best for the price and the location and it's a pity because this historical building deserves better. I hope you will do all the necessary work for this flat and for the other guests. Unfortunatly, I think that we'll never come aigain in Eliott Terrace.
Overall this property met our expectations, in a great location and with parking, essential as lots permits or meter filling required.
Not one window including bathroom would open! May have been for security but way too hot.
Minimum kitchen equipment but surviveable.
With building works in progress it looks more like a building site. Entrance and stairway very shabby. Damp areas in ceiling of flat with some shabby carpet. Musty smell inside flat.
Otherwise very spacious and comfortable!
Lovely sea view.
