The picturesque village of Cromarty lies on the tip of the Black Isle, overlooking the Cromarty Firth, only 22 miles from Inverness. This historic village, surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastline, is an ideal destination for a relaxing Highland holiday. The 18th century history of the village is preserved in the architecture, with a historic conservation area featuring cobbled lanes and charming fisherman’s cottages. History lovers should also visit the Cromarty Courthouse Museum and Hugh Miller’s Cottage and Museum to journey into the past.
There are a range of lovely shops in the village including Cromarty Pottery and the Cromarty Cheese House, as well as wonderful eateries, such as the popular Sutor Creek Café.
Other attractions and activities in the area include a wildlife boat trip with Eco Ventures, the Cromarty Brewing Company, sandy beaches, golfing, wildlife watching, walking and cycling. Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure or idyllic surroundings in which to unwind, the Cromarty area has it all.
Cromarty is around ten miles from Fortrose, where you can look for bottlenose dolphins at Chanonry Point, play a round of golf at the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Course or walk on the sandy Rosemarkie Beach. Nearby Fairy Glen offers peaceful woodland walking.
As well as discovering the delights of the Black Isle, Cromarty is a great base for exploring more of the spectacular Scottish Highlands, as well as south around the Inverness area and across to the scenic Moray Coast.
Harbour View, 4 George Street is a 3 bedroom terraced townhouse style house with 3 bedrooms over 2 floors.
Originally built for the Coastguard Officers around 1920 the house has since been fully renovated and benefits from a modern fully fitted galley kitchen, double glazing and central heating. The houses were originally built with outside toilets; then the Coastguard Management installed toilet and both facilities indoors at the back of the house. We are happy to say that there are toilet facilities on each floor now and Harbour View has a relaxing lounge overlooking the immediate harbour.
All bed linen, towels, electricity, Wi-Fi and parking is included in the tariff.
A 25% deposit is required to confirm the booking with the final balance due no later than 6 weeks before arrival. A refundable security deposit of £100 will also be required as part of the final balance.
Cancellation policy - once a booking is placed there is a 24 hour cooling off period. After that time the full amount of the booking will be due to be paid if the booking is cancelled at anytime. If cancelled and the property can be relet a full refund, less an administration fee of £30, will be refunded. Having to cancel a holiday is always an unexpected event, we strongly recommend you consider taking out cancellation insurance to cover you just in case.
The house has electric central heating throughout.
Parking is available outside the front of the house, additional space is nearby.
Dog friendly – up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at an additional cost of £25 per dog per week.
A cot and high chair are available at no extra cost.
Superbly located lovely property, well equipped with generous welcome package. We've already booked to go back in 2017.
On arrival frontage looks like your average town house row of houses but once you are inside it feels quirky but very homely and comfortable with a nautical themed decor.
You are greeted with a welcome pack plus lots of other extras such as bath robes & bath sheets as well as the usual hand & bath towels.
The kitchen is well equiped and leads through to a rear sitting/viewing room with a superb view of the harbour & Cromerty Firth. There is a deceivingly large rear garden overlooking the harbour & a rear exit which takes you out directly opposite the Royal Hotel bar & other eating establishments.
The bedrooms are very comfortable & well equiped & although small the bathrooms are adequate for your needs.
We found this a very quiet & relaxing place to stay with plenty of local attractions to investigate & splendid walks where you can look for wildlife & dolphins in the Firth..
Couldn't of been happier with our stay at harbour view we felt very at home and the location was perfect everyone in the area were very welcoming all in all best time we have spent in Scotland.
The owners met us when we arrived, explained all necessary aspects of the house and were generally very helpful and friendly.
The house was delightful, well equipped, comfortable and in a great harbourside location. We hadn't visited the Black Isle before and all enjoyed our visit here very much. We would certainly return, and cannot recommend the property highly enough.
We had a wonderful week in this cottage. The whole ambience of the cottage was welcoming and it proved to be a lovely retreat on the few occasions when the weather was not so good. All I can say is that everything worked for us and we really felt at home. In particular we spent most of our time when we there in the back room overlooking the harbour and the sea. It proved a good centre for touring and we always enjoyed coming back to the island. Very sad to leave at the end of the holiday, which is a good test of how much we enjoyed our stay.
A great place to spend a holiday, the view from the sun lounge is different every time you look, whatever the weather it is a joy to just be there. Our ages ranged from a 'nearly' 3 year old, to a 'fittish' 80 + , and the house suited us all. On arrival there was some delicious fresh bread (from nearby bakery), and some lovely cheese (from the nearby Cheese shop), plus a very nice bottle of wine. Every comfort had been provided for, furnishings were good quality, it was brilliant having a washing machine, and a tumble dryer! Beds were sooo comfortable! The shore was just a few minutes walk, and the town was easily accessible. Ice cream from 'Coupers Creek' is a must. We all agreed that this holiday, for us, was relaxing, peaceful, and re-charged our 'batteries', somewhere we would definitely want to return to.
By Car - From the South - Follow the A9 north until you reach Inverness. Continue along A9 toward the Kessock Bridge roundabout. Across the roundabout over the bridge (2nd exit). Continue on the A9, after crossing the bridge, for approx 1 mile then turn right along the B9161 (sign posted for Munlochy & Cromarty/A832).
After approx 3 miles you will be in Munlochy.
Continue through Munlochy until you reach the T junction as you leave the village. Turn right toward Fortrose along the A832. Continue through Fortrose then Rosemarkie and follow the road up the hill out of Rosemarkie.
Continue along the A832 and you will reach Cromarty approx 7 miles from Rosemarkie.
On arriving at Cromarty follow the road into the town passed the playing fields and Victoria Hall on the right. Take the next left onto Bank Street.
The harbour is at the end of Bank Street, George Street is the last street on the right before the harbour. Harbour View is No4 George Street.
