Heather Glen Hideaway is situated at the foot of the Ochil Hills in a small town called Alva only 8 miles away from historic Stirling known as the "Gateway to the Highlands". Its also on a bus route. It is a compact comfortable self contained studio apartment designed for couples or a single person. Its a lovely bright and airy open plan living space and sleeping area with quality furnishings and wet room. It is convenient for shops, pubs restaurants and takeaways. No need to worry about that on your first morning as a welcome pack will be provided. The area offers incredible scenic walks, cycling, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, horseriding all at the foot of the Ochils. Around Alva you can find Gartmorn Dam and Nature Reserve which is 3 miles away. Alloa which is also 3 miles away is a larger town with many historical places of interest. You can also find leisure centres, clubs, pubs restuarant, shops and has its own railway station. Further afield around 15 miles away you will find Falkirk with its famous Wheel and the new Sculptures "The Kelpies" which is spectacular. Glen Eagles 15 miles away with its famous hotel and golf courses which recently held "The Ryder Cup". St Andrews 50 miles away a beautiful seaside town. The home of golf. Our future King and Queen William and Kate met and went to its university. Alva is situated between Glasgow and Edinburgh both around 40 miles away. The historic town of Alva was once famous for its woollen mills which kept all of the locals in work. We also have "The Silver Glen" where silver ore was found and believed to be the purest in Britain. If you are around in July why not attend the Famous Alva Highland Games. If it is a quiet relaxing break you are after look no further. The hillfoots as its commonly known is surrounded in Glens, castles and golf courses,
We chose Alva as a final stay before our return to Australia as it is close to Edinburgh airport and a small village in an interesting area.
The apartment is excellent value and unlike many others accepted a short two night stay. Alva's friendly people made us most welcome and day trips to the Wallace monument ,Falkirk wheel and Kelpies and a delightful walk up the Alva Glen "iced the cake" on our 3 week Scottish holiday.
We would stay there again.

We stayed in Jays studio for a couple of nights and had a great time locally. Walking on the Glen, swimming in Stirling, karting at Falkirk, Campbell Castle and plenty of choice for eating out.
Jay was very helpful and made sure we had basic supplies on arrival. The studio is very well placed for all attractions, has everything you'd need and is well priced.
There's not a lot we can add to the enthusiastic comments left by other visitors to this lovely apartment. It is ideally located for trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow, The Trossachs, etc. as well as having some good local walks and attractions. Jay (who we met) and George (who we spoke to on the phone) could not have been more friendly and welcoming - thank you. The apartment has everything you need (including WiFi, which I don't think is noted under "facilities") and is very easy to find. Alva has several excellent places to eat, although you may need to check which of them is open on a Monday evening. We would thoroughly recommend this apartment to any couple or single person looking for a comfortable, cosy place to stay in wonderful surroundings.
Good sized studio apartment, washer/dryer, fridge and stove. Central location for us, however quite noisy as it is so close to the road. The only windows look directly onto the street, so blinds had to be kept closed. The apartment smelled of cigarette or pipe smoke. The bathroom is a wet room but unfortunately the water did not drain well, so there was always a musty smell. We ykept the mop and bucket in the shower. The apartment was not as clean as we would have expected, we had to sweep the laminate floor, dust, and bleach the toilet and shower area when we got there. The one clothes closet shared space with the bedding and linens as well as a large ironing board , a step ladder old paint cans, plastic buckets of material used for construction and a vacuum cleaner. Basic cleaning products were in the cupboards. There was milk, shortbread, coffee and tea available to get us started. The town of Alva is nestled at the base of the Ochil Hills and has spectacular views. The owners met us on arrival and were very pleasant and helpful.
We would not recommend this apartment to our friends.
the facilities of various mantainance and well looking apartment
The property was exactly as described, comfortable clean and cosy. The views of the hills were great too.
There was lots of extras in the kitchen which was very considerate. Lovely spacious wet room with decent shower.
On the high St there is everything you need, bank post office, Indian, fish and chips. The location really is great.
Sterling is about 10mins in car and You can pick up return fare on train for around £9 to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
There is too much to see and do in this area to mention.
We are definitely coming back, to see what we missed this time
A big thank you to Jay and George for being so friendly and helpful throughout the stay, they are lovely people.
PS Sorry we forgot my lovely plant......I thought Sel had put it in and he thought I did!! Gutted!
