Perfectly suited to near by walks and tourist attractions, cottage had everything you need, owner couldn't do more to help and knew the area very well, the cottage genuinely felt like a home from home, couldn't ask for better.
Welcoming and friendly hosts. On approach, using the travel directions, we thought we were never reaching our accommodation!! A real treat once we arrived! However we got used to the 6/7 minutes needed to reach the cottage from the single track road.
Thank you Mairi and Andrew for sharing the Windhaven cottage with us! Your hospitality was wonderful - from the starter food waiting for us in the kitchen to the quiet and relaxing surroundings. Wished we could have stayed longer, but it was definitely a great way to beginning our 3-week, 10th anniversary celebration!
Cosy, warm, well equipped cottage in a wonderful rural location yet so close to Inverness. I loved watching the day break over the mountains from the lounge window and watching the sheep, hens and cows with their calfs. Mairi and Andy looked after us so well without being intrusive. A wonderful peaceful base from which to walk with the dog, or go further afield, or explore the highlands.
The cottage is off the beaten track, but we loved that. It's roomy, cozy, up to date, friendly, safe, and has wonderful views! One needs a vehicle to get there. Great access to all the area has to offer.
This is a very well appointed cottage in a very picturesque part of Scotland. It feels vey remote when you are there but it is well placed for Inverness and Loch Ness and has views over open farmland. We flew to Inverness and the cottage is an easy drive about 15 minutes or so from the airport. The cottage has everything you need for a holiday. The owner lives next door and was very helpful in telling us about the surrounding area and things to see and places to eat. Starter supplies of bread etc. were also provided. We would certainly stay again and would recommend it as somewhere to stay in Inverness.
From the south [A9] take the Fort Augustus turning [B851] about 8 miles before Invernessyou will go past a farm on the right called The Dell, 1/4 of mile after look out for the first 40 mile an hour sign with 3 slashes and turn left there. Go over cattle grid. Sign Wester Lairgs and Wildhaven.
Continue up track for a mile, passing two locked gates, one on the left and then one on the right. You will see some farm buildings , wooden rail fence and a green shed ahead with the sign Wildhaven.
Go to the house and Wildhaven Cottage is at the far end of the property.
