Lovely cottage with pristine view of Mohonk Table Rocks. Hike out the back door or travel minutes to hiking, the Mohonk Mountain House, and numerous world class climbing sites. Screened-in sun room, deck and patio afford beautiful views of Shawangunk ridge.
The cottage is on a quiet road and has a spacious bedroom, plus a queen size pull-out sofa on private level. The full bath is luxurious and the kitchen is fully-equipped with soapstone counters.
Village has four-star dining as well as a Food Co-op and lots of fun shopping-from furniture to flowers, boutique -style.
I come from Colorado and grew up with scenic beauty that's hard to surpass. But this area of upstate New York is so lovely and welcoming. We love this property because it is personal, private and peaceful. And yet we are close to all the amenities: farm stands, library, post office, a rec center with pool. Plus art and performance are readily available.
The people are friendly – It's an involved community that has a long history of conserving the land and protecting the environment. It also nurtures artists providing venues and events for their work.
And the surroundings are spectacular with every season.
We like living simple and spare and so keep the place uncluttered and clean. It adds to the peace of the place. Just walking in the door is relaxing. And the view really takes you out of yourself. You can read or get drawn into the landscape - so many birds!
We really enjoyed the stay. Foliage was absolutely brilliant! The visit was the perfect time of the year! We took the recommended hike behind the house and that is worth the trip. Everything was as advertised, from locking the back French doors to the hot water heater. Once you get the address Google will take you to the front door.
We didn't use any of the kitchen and ate mainly in New Paltz...there is plenty to choose from there.
if you use this house as we did to go to West Point it is a little over an hour drive one way.
Had a WONDERFUL time at this cute, comfortable location. Though situated a little in the wilderness, this house is worth getting a little lost for! From the spacious downstairs that included a T.V, DVD Player, and couch, to the upstairs equipped with a full kitchen, bathroom and cozy bedroom, this house has so much to offer. Beautiful view of field and mountain from the back porch as well. The owner was very helpful and specific in directions for guests, and prompt in replying to emails. Conveniently located within minutes of Rosendale, New Paltz, and Mohonk Mountain reserve, the opportunities for outdoor activities are endless. Highly recommend for a quiet romantic getaway. Will definitely stay again!
I arrived at 7:45pm at night and I wasn't expecting the street to be so dark. I had to go around the back of the house to retrieve keys which was a little bit scary since it was pitch black and the crickets were loud. Thankfully I had my phone which had a flash light on it.
The home was a miss match of items from many eras ago. The kitchen and bathroom are updated. The appliances were highly functional.
I would add a sitting area to the upstairs in the dining area so 2 people could have conversation. The bugs were a bit much in the back so sitting on the deck at night was not an option.
The home was very cozy and highly functional for what we needed it for.
Oh my gosh, what a spot! It's hard to believe we will be in New York City by noon. The greenery, the woods, the stream, the birds, the quiet was best of all. Had a great hike out to the Hudson and that only a 15-minute drive from the house. The house is comfortable with many avenues for relaxing, from the sunny deck to the screen porch, the bedroom is large and deliciously quiet, the downstairs living room the perfect place to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee or the moonrise with a glass of wine. Really special and rejuvenating. Thank you!
We are two journalists from London and loved this pretty little house - beautifully done, easy to live in and with a glorious view from the balcony over the valley to the trees beyond. We had a week of perfect weather in late August, no bugs but plenty of wildlife - deer, foxes, woodpeckers, humming birds - and friendly neighbours who invited us in for a drink. Great walking and swimming in Minnewaska Park - deep in the wilderness and only 90 mins from Broadway - amazing.
My family enjoyed a month at this lovely house and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed using the small but well equipped kitchen, working on the ample tables in the cool downstairs room, and watching the fireflies at night. The owners have taken such thought and care to their charming getaway and decorated with great taste. It was a pleasure to be here, so close to the Mohonk Preserve, climbing, hiking and biking and come home to relax and even get work done. We would definitely recommend this place to others!
