Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Solimar

2 Bedrooms, 1 queen bed and 2 bunkbeds, 1 Bathroom, sleeps 6

Luquillo is a very famous tourist attraction in PR. It has the most incredible blue beaches that are renowned around the world as 'Bandera Azul', or Blue Flag, which is the highest distinction around the world. The famous 'El Yunque National Rain Forest' is 5 min. from the apartment with its incredible waterfalls and hiking trails. Also we have very close in Fajardo the Las Cabezas light house and forest reserve and the famous bio-luminescent lagoon. The Bioluminescent lagoon is a gtreat atraction and a great adventure. It's a beautiful and different experience due to being of a night kayak ride.

The apartment is a corner unit on the 12th floor. Due to many windows it has great cross ventilation providing with lots of ocean breezes. The windows from the kitchen and dinning room area also provide a beautiful ocean view. Even thou the floor is not too high nor too low you will feel from the inside of the apartment as if you are on top of the ocean in a cloud. Come and enjoy our all year round great weather in a place where you will feel like home!.

About Sheila Gonzalez

I'm a realt estate agent in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. An hour away from Luquillo. When I was very young my grandfather had a house in Luquillo in front of the Ocean and our family, uncles and cousins would spend most summers at this house in the beach. We always had such great time that I always said that when I could would love to buy a place there. It was the most frequented beach in the Island for Summer time. We used to meet school friends there even thou I lived in the metropolitan area. Everyone wanted to spend summer there and many camped in nearby camping areas. It was the cool place to be. Time has changed and now is a very tranquil beach. This makes it much better because you can enjoy nature in peace at it's best.

One day I was called to sell an apartment owned by my uncle in Luquillo. When I arrived just was amazed at the views of the ocean and just fall completely in love. I had to have it! It was needing some love so I decided to spend lots of money and did it as new. I am planning on enjoying it more in my retirement Unfortunately for the time being work doesn't allow me to enjoy it so I hope you do. This is the apartment that I'm offering with much pride.

Sheila Gonzalez purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Sheila Gonzalez chose Luquillo

This property has been prepared with lots of love and planning for your best experience in the Island. My greatest joy is for you to love Puerto Rico and Puertorricans and want to come back.

What makes this apartment unique

Completely remodeled! Great building with good security 24/7.

You will completely fall in love with the views and won't want to leave. From the kitchen, dinning and living area you really feel like in a cloud over the ocean. Great feeling!!!!

Excellent apartment in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family (a couple with 2 kids) spent a week at this apartment during Thanksgiving 2009. The location is great if you want to use it as a base to explore different parts of Puerto Rico, specially the Northeast side, It is very close to El Yunque and Fajardo and not too far from San Juan. We also had a chance to visit Arecibo and Ponce.

The apartment had everything we could possibly need and the owner, Sheila, was very helpful welcoming us at the apartment and giving us hints. She even managed to get us a great babysitter one night so that my wife and I could go salsa dancing.

There is a great beach right in front of the apartment and it has a large pool. A car is definitely needed.

We highly recommend this apartment.

beautiful , wonderful view

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice condo and it is well maintained. The view is absolutely beautiful. From the balcony you can see the ocean, and it was very nice to be able to sit on the balcony ,and enjoy the view. I had stayed there with my husband and my 4 daughters. They shared the second bedroom and were comfortable. They had 2 bunkbeds in the second bedroom . There were many things to do around the area. It is a central place for things to do. The apartment is kept clean. And it had all the things we needed for the beach. I would recommend staying here.

The apartment was just as described with an amazing view of the ocean. It is conveniently located across the road from a supermarket and a Walgreens. The kioskos, which offer a variety of delicious local foods are a short 5 minute drive from the condo. The condo is beautifully decorated and had coolers, beach chairs, tennis rackets, boogie boards and even board games for the children. The kitchen was fully equipped, the beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of fresh linens and towels available. We had an amazing vacation and will definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous View

  • 4 of 5

My son and I stayed here for a little less than a week and really enjoyed it! The bedrooms each had air conditioning so sleep was very comfortable. The fan In the living room and the breeze on the balcony made the common areas comfortable. We loved sitting on the balcony and listening to the waves. It is close to so much and we enjoyed the pool, tennis courts, and nearby beach. The parking was secure and there were always spaces available. Sheila was always quick to help if we needed anything and was very helpful. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed being able to cook our own breakfasts, snacks or occasional dinner. The condo was very clean.

While here, we visited the El Yunque Forest and Old San Juan. We took a great tour with BioIsland for an electric boat tour of the Bioluminescent Lagoon. We also took a snorkeling catamaran day trip with East Island Excursions, which turned out to be our favorite thing of the week.

Staying here worked very well for us and we enjoyed our visit a great deal!

Affordable but noisy

  • 3 of 5

My family had a very nice stay at this condo. The owner was very attentive and made sure that everything was in order upon our arrival. The views of the ocean and El Yunque were lovely, and the location was very convenient for getting to the rainforest and to Fajardo for a snorkeling cruise. We had spectacular weather the entire week, and were very comfortable using just the overhead fans with the balcony doors always open. In general, I feel that the apartment came as described (and pictured) and that the rental fees were fair. We definitely got our money's worth.

However, I don't believe that this is a five star unit as rated by the majority of reviewers. For example, the leather sectional was nice, but the remaining furniture in the living area was stark. It was not easy for the four of us (myself, husband and two adult children) to share the space comfortably. The window in the dining area was missing a shade so that the bright sun made it difficult to enjoy an evening meal at the table. The "glassware" was plastic. Some nice sets of glass tumblers and wine glasses would make things feel a little more upscale. And the larger beach chairs are looking worn out and could stand to be replaced. Some of these points may seem minor, but I expect better conditions, maybe even a little luxury, for five stars.

The biggest drawback to this unit is beyond the control of the owner and that is the incredible level of street noise. Our first night (a Sunday) we had to contend with blaring music well into the early am. The music wasn't as bad on subsequent nights, but the noise from cars was as big a problem. On more than one occasion, it sounded like cars were drag racing on the nearby road. And the mornings weren't much better with the beeping and crashing sounds of dumpster trucks waking us throughout the week. This corner unit does give a lovely view of El Yunque, but I would rather have been in an internal unit where the noise might not have been as much of an issue.

If restful evenings are important to your vacation plans, this may not be the place for you. If you don't mind street sounds and late night music, this is an affordable option for your Puerto Rico vacation.
