The Annecy suite is in a great location in the middle of the old town with a great view over the old prison and castle. By chance, we arrived just before the Bastille Day celebration with stunning fireworks in the lake followed by a cultural week with fantastic street entertainment and shows. – Robert E., Horley, Surrey, United Kingdom

Charming One-Bedroom Apartment with King-Sized Bed in Annecy.
average rating of 4.2 based on 39 reviews

Good " historic" property in a great location in the old town.

  • 4 of 5

We like this property for the location right on the canal. Bright kitchen but a little dark in living room . Cosy working fireplace and very comfy bed. Character furniture ,old club feel ,big old paintings. This is not a modern apartment . Expect historic and therefore quirky.

There are 41 steps in spiral up to the property so this would need to be taken into consideration if carrying heavy bags.

All appliances worked after a bit of research. Owner has left comprehensive notes with a delightful sense of humour.

Good wifi and TV reception, although TV set very small picture was excellent.

Location, location, location....

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this darling apartment which has the perfect location from which to enjoy old Annecy. I miss the fantastic views across the canal and down to the lake, swans and flowers everywhere. The building is in that iconic photo of Annecy. Incroyable!

It's 4 flights up a spiral stone staircase and worth the trek. You will find everything just steps away (except a parking spot!) - all the shops, cafes, stone bridges, old palace, churches, and prison, cobblestoned walking streets....We safely parked our rental car for free in a public lot just east of town past the police station - a 5-10 minute walk. Don't miss the open market on Tues, Fri, and Sun mornings - best we'd ever experienced, right outside your door and across the canal. A boat trip on the lake was well worth it. We also drove around the lake to picnic at one of the village beaches, and we made use of the great pedestrian paths for running along the lake. Mt. Semnoz (a Tour de France climb) was a short drive away, with scenes right out of The Sound of Music. And in just over an hour you can be in Chamonix where we highly recommend the aerial tram to the Aiguille du Midi for the spectacular views of Mont Blanc - not to be missed! (Go on a clear day).

Back in Annecy we enjoyed La Sapaudia

a few times for pizza (and the charming American waitress!) and L'Estaminet for Savoyarde specialties. And yes, Pauvert the traiteur next door has wonderful take-out offerings.

The apartment has everything you need, is charmingly decorated and furnished, and the washer/dryer posed no problems! We truly enjoyed our time in this most picturesque of settings and have memories to last a lifetime....merci!

Romantic Stay In Old Annecy

  • 5 of 5

We were in Annecy for L'Etape du Tour after seeing Stages 4 & 5 of Le Tour de France 100 in Nice. What a wonderful place! The location is absolutely perfect, just perfect. The Lake, the Market, The Village are all at your feet here. The neighbor is delightful! The apartment had everything we needed and could have wanted. The washer/dryer worked beautifully, and I used it!!

The views from the balcony are fantastic, you see the prison, the castle, the canals. We fell in love with Annecy and we will be back. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Very disappointing

  • 2 of 5

This location was spectacular. Beautiful historic Annecy. To be staying in the heart of the old town across from the ancient prison was thrilling. This apt. requires much attention and has been in a state of neglect for a long time. None of this is visible in the photos. Some of our complaints: sopping wet towels upon arrival, heater in bedroom was about to fall off the wall, under cupboard lighting and wall plug in kitchen hanging on only by years of built up grease, washing machine broke down while we were there and flooded apt. below. Two-toned yellow painted walls smudged and filthy with soot. Several burned out bulbs with no replacements in apt. No colander or large pot for simple pasta meal. No lids for any of the pots. Rude and arrogance displayed by owner when informed of the problems.

Owner's Response: The reviewer was the woman who called SCREAMING that “someone had to bring her kitchen shears, since she couldn’t possible cook without kitchen shears….. “ We suggested she buy her own and take them home as a souvenir if she really needed them. No doubt she considered that rude. Mind you, there are regular shears as well as knives in the kitchen. That was only one of many hysterical calls. She could not figure out how anything worked: except the telephone in the apartment. Not to mention that the washing machine didn’t just break, it overflowed perhaps because she overloaded it, according to the repairman who was called. She called SCREAMING that she couldn’t find a cutting board, until it was pointed out to her that it was sitting on the counter. She’s Canadian so she should have been able to speak French but she apparently didn’t communicate with the housekeeper who returned twice and threatened to quit if he had to see her again. There is a colander, which she apparently could not find, just like the cutting board, and there’s a perfectly adequate set of pots for boiling pasta, although, like the kitchen shears she no doubt had her own ideas. There’s no soot on the walls and no working fireplace. Where would it come from? It’s electric heat. And the towels are not hung up wet for the customers. Just read the other reviews and compare them with this rant.

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the apartment for a week in October and were delighted. It was just as described. Clean and simple. Bright sunshine bursts through the french doors on a nice afternoon. The doors open to a small balcony overlooking the canal and all the rest of the charming old city. Fabulous views! We recommend it if you're looking for a spot right in the heart of the old city. It's not fancy, but everything you need is provided. Great place to base your visit to the Alps and beautiful Annecy. Don't miss fondue at Le Freti, crepes at Bleu de Toi, and pizza at La Sapaudia.

Lac d'Annecy is the jewel of the Savoy Alps. The resort of Annecy, which is the region's capital, makes the best base for touring the beautiful Haute-Savoie. Once a Gallo-Roman town, the seat of the comtes de Genève, Annecy opens onto one of the best views of cold, deep lakes and lush mountains in the French Alps.

Built around the river Thiou, Annecy has been called the Venice of the Alps because of the canals that cut through the old part of town, Vieil Annecy. Since the 1980s, Annecy has become a booming urban center that has managed to preserve its natural setting as well.
