The location of this apartment is simply ideal for staying or living in London. The transport is virtually unrivalled for any London location and it is just about possible to travel to any part of the city, North, South, East and West in about 20 minutes - directly. Most of the principal tube lines are available within 5 minutes walk of the flat, Waterloo is a single stop on the tube, Liverpool street is 10 minutes walk and King's Cross St Pancras is four tube stops away. Or you can wander down to Tower Bridge through the ancient heart of the City of London and take a boat East to Canary Wharf and Greenwich or West to the Tate Modern, the London Eye, Chelsea Wharf and beyond.
My name is Adam and I grew up in Surrey, traditionally the stockbroker belt of London. I have my own business which affords me the ability to choose where I work and reside. My wife and I have spent much of the past 7 years living between our house in France, where Valerie comes from, and Lothbury. The location of this apartment is simply ideal for living in London - if you like shopping, restaurants and architecture and for us provides the ideal antidote to living in deep countryside.

The architecture of No7 Lothbury is absolutely stunning and is the principal reason Valerie and I fell in love with this place. It was built in 1866 and provided accommodation for the General Credit and Discount Company. Flat 9 is the old general manager's room, and contains a beautifully restored corbelled ceiling and an enormous ornate fireplace. The property was refurbished in 2006 and turned into 11 apartments. The development won the City Heritage Award 2007 and no expense was spared on the internal decor of each apartment as well as the communal areas and the exterior of the building.
The central location of Lothbury offers shopping, museums and galleries, restaurants and bars. The City of London financial district started to open up to residential living some years ago and now offers 7 day a week amenities amongst the ancient streets, alleys and monuments of The Square Mile. If there are other parts of London you wish to visit - all possible transport links are only a short walk away.
We were very satisfied with the apartment. It is a 5-minute walk with luggage from the Bank Tube station. It’s very convenient to access the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) from Bank Tube to the ExCel Convention Centre (Prince Regent stop). We’ve stayed previously more on the west side in South Kensington, Shephard’s Bush & Westminster; this was a nice change as it seemed less crowded, especially on the weekend. The building is very secure with a solid, key accessed door. One can walk up the 1 ½ flights to the apartment or take the very compact elevator to bring up luggage.
As to the apartment, dramatically tall windows, very high ceilings with an enclosed loft built above the main floor taking up about 1/3 of the ceiling airspace. The apartment was very clean, 2 generously sized comfortable sofas & large coffee table but not overly furnished so the place seems very airy. There is a commode & sink on the main floor. Loft bedroom is reached via a compact partial spiral staircase. The shower upstairs has great water flow & plenty of hot water. The bed sheets were good quality, bed is firm and it was nice to also have firm pillows, reading lights on either side of the bed for reading. The bedroom faces an inner courtyard of the adjacent church so is rather quiet. We did hear some trucks and back up beeping in the early weekday morning hours, but at night this area is very quiet by London standards. It was very hot & humid during our stay so it was wonderful to have highly functional air conditioning. We couldn’t find certain items but they communicated the locations of: hair dryer, additional towels, etc. The kitchen could use a microwave which I think they plan to swap in for the existing steam oven. The kitchen has a tea kettle, dishwasher, full size cooktop & oven and good sized refrigerator. We were glad to have the safety of smoke detectors but they were extremely sensitive. It would have been nice to have a toaster. It would have been nice to have a few additional things: extra tea towels or paper towels, a bit more toilet paper, oven mitts, basic pantry items (salt/pepper, cooking oil, sugar) or we simply could not find these items. We really did appreciate other items that were provided: hand washing soap, dishwashing liquid, automatic dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent for using the machines in the basement. That was a huge plus being able to wash a few clothes so we could travel with less luggage.We highly recommend the apartment.
Great apartment in a perfect location within walking distance to many of the main sights of London. If you don't feel like walking the Bank tube station is only a 2 minute walk away.
Adam met us upon our arrival and showed us around the apartment. The apartment was a home away from home and had everything we needed. It was very spacious and quiet so you could spread out and relax after the madness of negotiating your way around the streets of London.
Highly recommend this apartment and wouldn't hesitate in staying here again.
It doesn't get better than this apartment. Clean modern, big. Nice kitchen... great area for catching the tube anyplace you wanna go. We stayed here 7 nights and loved it.
It was such a pleasure to spend a week in this beautiful apartment. The location is ideal for walking to any area,with plenty of restaurants, shops etc nearby. When you needed a break from the busyness of London then it was a calm oasis to relax in - the photos do accurately reflect the lovely rooms. Thank you Adam & Valerie - we will be very happy to come back here next time.
The flat is just as it is described, and shown in photos. Amazing location in the financial district. Tube station a block away. Really great base. We wish we'd stayed longer. One tiny thing...maybe adding a toaster. But with so many cafes around the flat, toast was forgotten by day two. You will not be disappointed staying here.
We had a 5 night stay at this wonderful apartment that is perfectly situated in the heart of the City of London, immediately next to the historic Bank of England. It was easy access to just about anywhere we needed to go. We enjoyed going to Spitafields, Brick Lane, and Shoreditch on one side, and then a quick jaunt to Borough Market across the river. And then another short walk to Smithfields. Anywhere else we wanted to go, the Bank station was right there.
The building is a beautiful 1800s historic building that I believe used to be a private club. There are not a lot of flats in the building so it was private and quiet even though it was in the center of everything. The apartment itself is beautiful - even better than described. It was spacious, with high ceilings and architectural details. It was very well equipped, with a kitchen, and a living area with high end television including extensive cable and media. It was so spacious! The bedroom is upstairs and was very comfortable and private. The place was spotless! And then the service - Adam, the owner was always very quick to respond with any questions we had. Colin, the manager - what a great guy! He was so helpful and accommodating, even willing to go the extra mile to invite us out. It doesn't get any better than that. He is quite the connoisseur of fine wine and food! We definitely would want to come back here for sure, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a luxurious apartment in the center of the City. No7 Lothbury is next door to the Bank of England and Christopher Wren's St Margaret's Church. Whether you're coming for a business trip or holidaying in London, this is about the most central location you will find. Transport links are unrivalled and the location is not just in the heart of old London, the Square Mile, the apartment block itself is an Heritage award winning 19th century Venetian Gothic masterpiece. Not withstanding the ancient nature of the location, some of London's finest bars, restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
