A small group of privately owned apartments with shared garden and pool.

As suggested by its name, the restorative waters of Aulus-les-Bains have attracted visitors from far and wide for well over a century. In addition to offering relief from a range of metabolic disorders including high cholesterol, the thermal baths now include a range of spa beauty treatments which, in combination with the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding countryside, are sure to aid relaxation. However, Aulus and the surrounding area cater for all ages and tastes with restaurants, cafes, an adventure playground and a wide range of sporting activities including equestrian, water sports, cycling, tennis and fishing. During the winter the local ski resort of Guzet-Neige offers a range of activities suitable for all the family in addition to downhill skiing. Venturing out of Aulus and into the Ariege a wealth of popular destinations can be found close by including historic towns, caves and and even the small but diverse principality of Andorra nestling between France and Spain.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe, bedside chevets and drawers. En-suite bathroom comprises a bath with hand shower, toilet and washbasin. Bedroom 2 contains 2 single beds, wardrobe, bedside drawers. En-suite shower room with toilet and washbasin. The spacious living area has a large 3-piece suite, coffee table and satellite TV providing French television aswell as other language programmes. It incorporates a DVD and CD player. A dining table and 4 chairs are situated next to the well-equipped kitchen including oven, hob and grill, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, coffee maker and an extensive range of crockery and cooking utensils. Electric heating. A clothes airer, iron and board and vacuum cleaner are also provided and a washing machine and dryer is available on the premises. All bed and house linen and towels are supplied and an allowance is made for normal electricity usage but excessive use will be charged extra.

Outside is an enclosed garden with an outdoor swimming pool for use during the summer period. A table, chairs and sunloungers are also provided but it must be emphasised that this area is shared with guests and owners of the other apartments.

About Jill Allcroft

Established in France for 24 yrs as both gite owners and a building firm, we bought a run down hotel 12 years ago and converted the 27 bedrooms into 11 apartments. The conversion was carried out to a very high standard as befits a builder who did a lot of the work himself but brought in specialist artisans such as roofers, where required. We live in the next departement where Richard continues in the building trade and Jill has recently opened a brocante business.

Why Jill Allcroft chose Ariege

Having been on board from the beginning of the conversion and having either completed the work ourselves or overseen other professionals doing so, we are confident in recommending it. The garden area and the swimming pool are shared but the mix of Dutch, English, Welsh and French owners ensures a convivial atmosphere where English and French are understood. The village is small but well equipped with services likely to ensure a relaxed stay for all, Mum included! Restaurants, shops and the local spa means all interests are catered for and the kids can expend some energy in the local park while Mum indulges in a little pampering.

What makes this apartment unique

The thermal baths are great for relaxing after either a day sightseeing or skiing and a number of options such as massage are offered so do be sure to find out in advance and make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

For the winter holiday makers there is a bus which travels from the village to the local ski resort so you don't need to drive. If a party member is not particularly keen on skiing, the local tourist office will advise on other events in the area.

In summer the local counrtyside is a haven for walkers with marked walks offering shaded randonees where the local flora and fauna can be enjoyed.

Appartement agréable et bien équipé. Chambres spacieuses avec chacun sa salle d'eau. Très bien placé près des deux commerces et du ... bistrot pour se remettre en fin de journée.

comfortably relaxed at an interesting place

a cosy-comfortable flat in a very quiet village at the end of an ice-age carved Pyrenée valley surrounded by 1400, 1900 up to 2400m high mountains. In the pre-war times a once favoured recreation place (thermes are there today too) it is today especially visited in winter and holiday times, when we've been there we found a more quiet, almost empty village with the charme of a forgotten past inmidst the beauty of a wild nature.

The place is an excellent "base" for hiking tours into the mountains and excursions to neighboured valleys, the nice pittoresque villages and exciting caves of the "Couserans" and Pyrenée Nature Park. Hiking up to the impressive waterfall is a must and absolutely worth all the effort.

The apartment is spacious and well equipped, evrything needed available and totally comfortable for a relaxed vacation. Each bedroom has an own bathroom, which is perfect for more persons and families. The pool down in the backyard is nice although at our time still too cool for us, however sure great in hot summer days. W-LAN/wifi one gets outside at the tourist office 30 m down the street.

A nice, historic-feeling traditional restaurant/bar is just next door, a friendly couple serving good and not expensive meals. familiar, relaxed athmosphere. :-))

Jill and Richard, the landlords, invested a lot of love into the old building a former hotel; they are extremely friendly, open hearted and helpful with hints and infos.

Unfortunately we've been there onlyfor 3 days ... next time will be, must be muuuch longer !

Super gemütlich

Eine urgemütliche Wohnung in e. sehr ruhigen Dorf am Ende eines i.d. Eiszeit entstandenen Pyrenäentales umgeben von Bergen zw. 1400, 1900 bis 2400 m Höhe. In Vorkriegszeiten ein beliebter Kur- und Erholungsort ist es heute wohl besonders im Winter u.d. Ferienzeit gut besucht (Skigebiet in der Nähe, Thermalbad i.Ort), zu unserer Zeit dort ein sehr ruhiges, geradezu verlassenes Dorf mit dem Charme romantisch verwitterter Vergangenheit.

Die Lage ist hervorragend geeignet als Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen in die Berge und Ausflüge in Nachbartäler, reizvolle Orte & imposante Höhlen des "Couserans" und Pyrenäen Naturparks. Der Aufstieg zum grandiosen Wasserfall ist ein Muß und allemal die Anstrengung wert.

Die Wohnung selbst ist modern und geräumig, alles vorhanden, was man braucht und uurgemütlich. Jedes Zimmer mit extra Bad ist super für mehrere Leute. Der Pool ist schön, allerdings wars derzeit leider noch zu frisch.

W-LAN & alle Infos gibts im Office Tourisme ca 30m entfernt.

Im Restaurant gleich nebenan wird man von den sehr netten Wirtsleuten preiswert und historisch anmutendem Ambiente herzlichst verwöhnt, schön.

Die Vermieter Jill und Richard haben viel Arbeit und Liebe in ihr Haus, ein ehemaliges Hotel, investiert; sie sind äußerst nett, offen, umgänglich und hilfsbereit mit Infos und Tipps.

Ruhe, Gemütlichkeit, nette Menschen, Gastlichkeit und Natur, was will man mehr ! Wir waren leider nur kurz hier ... nächstes Mal auf alle Fälle länger !!!

Séjour très agréable

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable avec cet appartement calme, spacieux, très bien équipé, propre et bien placé. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour s'alimenter à proximité à pieds. Un bon rapport qualité prix. Et une propriétaire très accueillante.

Nous avons aussi beaucoup apprécié la piscine lors des fortes chaleurs. Il est probable que nous y reviendrons. Nous le recommandons sans aucune hésitation.

Great apartment, nice village.

We spent Easter on this apartment (4 adults and one baby).

It's perfect for this, as the bedrooms have one private bathroom each and a big "common area" with kitchen and living room.

The description of the apartment was quite accurate.

Although we could not use the swimming pool (still too cold), it seems a good place to spend some days in the summer.

The area is really beautiful, surrounded by mountains. And one can do a lot of outdoors activities.

The Tourism office is at the other side of the street, near the small supermarket.

Jill, the owner, is very friendly and helped us with all our doubts (mainly how to get there, as this could be tricky with snow on the high passes).

I definitely would recommend this property to friends and family.
