Hollywell Cottage is a charming three bedroom 18th Century detached property overlooked by the spectacular Caer Caradoc. Pet friendly. Situated on the side of the Long Mynd in a tranquil position in the south Shropshire hills this luxury self catering rental enjoys stunning views over the surrounding hills. Hollywell Cottage has been refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining original features. The garden is fully enclosed, a patio with garden furniture makes the most of the uninterrupted views of the Caer Caradoc. Positioned in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasting stunning views. On the edge of the beautiful Long Mynd Hills with 6000 acres of National Trust Moorland to explore and breathtaking vistas in virtually every direction offering numerous excellent walks and cycle routes, the cottage is situated on The Long Mynd cycle route and the Church Stretton Challenge Cycle Route. This area is extremely popular with walkers and cyclists.

Within walking distance of the Batch Valley and Carding Mill Valley.

The local area offers many more visitor attractions including : Acton Scott Working Farm, The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Stokesay Castle, Wroxeter Roman City, Attingham Park and an easy drive will take you to the fascinating historic towns of Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Bishop’s Castle, and Much Wenlock.

The accommodation has three bedrooms, with 1 double bed on the ground floor and a King bed with en suite shower, 2 single beds and a family bathroom on the 1st floor. A wood burning stove and gas central heating keeps the property snug on a chilly evening. Free wifi is provided at the property.

We have spared no expense on fitting out our holiday rental cottage even though you are self catering we want you to enjoy the luxury hotel experience so provide Egyptian cotton sheets and towels. A welcome pack is standard with some freshly baked treats to enjoy. The Kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and everything you require to cook a 3 course meal or bake a cake!

If you can bare to leave the gorgeous views whilst relaxing on the day bed in the dining area, you will find the Lounge fully equip with a 50″ TV, DVD player and a large selection of board games, jigsaws, books and dvds, cds and cd player. We provide the first basket of logs, further supplies are available locally.

Make your way out onto the patio, yes those amazing views are perfect from this area, why not dine al fresco and enjoy the sun setting on those long summer evenings. Equipped with outside dinning table and chairs along with a BBQ you will find this is such a tranquil spot surround by the perfume of the well stocked, fully fenced garden, feel free to help yourself to the herbs growing.

We have spent the last 6 months carrying out a full renovation on Hollywell Cottage, when we bought the cottage we knew it was “The One”, the views alone are out of this world but now the cottage really has been brought back to life. Having spared no expense on the fixtures and fittings we know how important it is to get every detail perfect for your holiday.

Even though we are new to the holiday letting market, we have ourselves rented holiday lets on lots of occasions and feel we have a wealth of information to turn a good holiday into a great one. The luxuries and warm welcome we provide are the start of it, but we will go that extra mile to make sure everything is how we would expect when we first arrive at a holiday cottage

Why Sharon chose All Stretton

We bought the property because we fell in love with the views along with the feeling that we had stepped back in time to a less hurried way of life in and around All Stretton. Making for a very relaxing time. Even though we have a rural location we do benefit from being 2 miles away from Church Stretton, with a Co-op, banks, doctors, tea rooms, antique shops and local markets. We are in walking distance of the Long Mynd and of the Batch Valley which is a hidden gem less crowded then the Carding Mill Valley.

Perfect from start to finish can't wait to return!

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Hollywell Cottage. We arrived to find homemade apple cake and clotted cream which was delicious and made us feel very welcomed. The welcome pack provided was the best we have ever recieved, it was well thought out and included everything that we needed for breakfast the next morning: eggs, bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee, cereal, juice and much more. The wine chilling in the fridge was a lovely suprise after a long days travel.

The cottage is lovely and in a beautiful setting, clean and tidy with comfy beds and crisp linen and towels. The well equipped kitchen included everything we could wish for.

The lovely walks from the door step is a bonus and sitting on the terrace enjoying the beautiful garden and views to die for was relaxing.

We highly recommend this luxury cottage and can't wait to plan our next stay, thank you.

Location

The Shropshire Hills area is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), in the English county of Shropshire. It is located in the south of the county, extending up to its border with Wales. The Long Mynd is a large and long plateau sitting just above the cottage, while the rugged outline of the Stiperstones ridge is unmistakable. Together, they make up the largest area of heathland in the Shropshire Hills. Come late summer these hilltops are a sea of purple and not to be missed. Along with the heather a variety of other plants flourish here including bilberry (known locally as whinberry), and this in turn attracts many insects and birds – look out for a green hairstreak butterfly or stonechat on the gorse.

As well as a wealth of wildlife, the area is steeped in history and folklore. Shooting Box is one of sixteen Bronze Age burial mounds found on the Mynd and the 5,000 year old ridge-way, the Portway, once carried Neolithic traders high and dry above the wet and wooded valleys. During the 1870s the Stiperstones area was one of Britain’s main sources of lead. Remains of this once thriving industry are scattered along the western slopes of the Stiperstones. Both Mary Webb and Malcolm Saville set their stories in these hills, and there is many a myth and tall tale to be told.

There are lots of leaflets and books describing walks in this area and there are miles of public footpaths to follow.

Great views and no driving, map reading or parking to worry about!

The Shropshire Hills Shuttle bus which passes the cottage, runs at the weekends and Bank Holiday Mondays from Easter. You can sit back and enjoy breathtaking views.

A warm welcome awaits you at the Bog Visitor Centre, along with home-made cakes, local crafts and displays on the history of the area, the folklore, where to walk and much more.

Ruined engine houses, blacksmith shops and tall chimneys tell of a time when the lead mines of this area were the most productive in Europe. Underground trips into Day Level are available when the Snailbeach Mine Visitor Centre is open.

At the heart of the Shropshire Hills, Church Stretton the picturesque market town has been a popular visitor destination since Edwardian times. The town centre is full of traditional shops to tempt you – from tea rooms to a three-storey antiques emporium. Church Stretton is a magnet for walkers and a “Walkers are Welcome” town. There are lots of other activities to do including geocaching, paragliding and archery. Electric bikes are also available for hire.

Stokesay Castle is probably the best preserved medieval fortified Manor Houses in England, built in the late 13th Century is well worth a visit.

Ludlow is a thriving medieval market town and an architectural gem with a lively community feel, busy with events and festivals throughout the year. The historic town centre is situated on a cliff above the River Teme and is surrounded by the unspoilt and beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches.

Here are some of our principal booking conditions.

Our prices are in Pounds GB. They are inclusive of heating, water and electricity, linen, towels, all cleaning and laundry products. We provide two bath and two hand towels per adult guest for weekly stays.
Weekly bookings run from Friday to Friday. Arrival is usually from 4.00 pm on the day of arrival and you must vacate by 10.00 am on the day of departure, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Short breaks are usually available from November until Easter, excluding Christmas and New Year. They may also be available on a last minute basis during other times of the year. Four-night midweek breaks run from Monday to Friday and three-night weekend breaks from Friday to Monday.
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking. Reservations will not be treated as confirmed until the deposit has been received, and payment cleared, upon which written confirmation will be issued. The balance is payable six weeks prior to your arrival date. If a booking is made within six weeks of the arrival date, the balance is payable in full at the time of booking. Upon confirmation of the booking, you accept a legal obligation to pay the balance of the rent.
Bookings can be made on-line or by telephone. Your booking will thereafter be held provisionally for four days to allow time for payment to be received.
Payments can be made by bank transfer. Please contact us for bank details.
We recommend that you obtain suitable holiday cancellation insurance, as full payment will remain payable for cancellations made within six weeks of the arrival date.
Smoking is NOT permitted within the cottages or gardens. A charge of £50 will be levied to any guest found smoking in the properties, to cover necessary specialist cleaning.
We will accept a maximum of one well-behaved dog by prior arrangement, agreed at the time of booking, subject to a cleaning charge of £20.00 per stay per dog.
