We enjoyed our stay on this unusual island. We liked the proximity to the shops and eating places. The cottage was comfortable and warm but could do with a new mattress in the master bedroom.
We had a great time at Sunrays, which is charming and well equipped. Thanks to Shelley, the manager, for her attentiveness and quick support when required. Garden could be really lovely with a bit of work, but this was only a very minor downside to a fantastic week. Thanks!
We are a family of 5 including two teenagers and have just returned from a week staying in sun rays.
The cottage was very well equipped they seemed to have thought of everything ! We found it spotlessly clean and all bedding and towels were very clean and there were plenty of them . The cottage is in a great location for exploring the island in a lovely tree lined road.
My only negative point would be the exterior it needs a little TLC and the garden seemed a little neglected could be beautiful as its a lovely size and has some great fruit trees but not much else.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would love to return next year .
We had a lovely 3 night stay in this characterful house. The beds and linen are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The garden area could be smartened up a bit but why hang around in the garden when the gorgeous West Mersea quayside is just 10 minutes walk away?
The house is very clean, cosy and homely. It has everything you could possibly need. We stayed there with our 3 children. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay and there was plenty of room for the whole family. It is a perfect and beautiful place to stay on this enchanting island.
A beautiful place to stay on the atmospheric Mersea Island. We ate delicious fresh seafood at the West Mersea oyster bar and Company Shed, enjoyed drinks at the Victory pub and even managed a day trip to clacton. The cottage is well positioned and well stocked, a very comfortable place to stay. Many thanks for a great weekend away!
