Character Cottage in an Historic Village Ideal for Seaside and Country Holidays

Red House Cottage is situated in the Suffolk village of Blythburgh, famous for its magnificent 13th century church known as the Cathedral of the Marshes. It stands within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just inland from Southwold on the Heritage Coast of north-east Suffolk. The cottage has been refurbished with a modern kitchen, bathroom and conservatory whilst retaining its charming character with beamed ceilings, wood burning stove and original features. The kitchen, conservatory, sitting room,master bedroom and garden have stunning and uninterrupted views of the Blyth estuary. There is a large mature cottage garden with decking and wild flower meadow. It is an ideal holiday home for walkers, bird watchers, nature lovers, cyclists, canoeists and sailors. It is family friendly and pet friendly. The cottage is situated on Angel Lane, just off the A12, and within yards of the village shop and Adnam's pub and restaurant the White Hart Inn. It is a short drive from the acclaimed coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. It is within walking distance of Dunwich, Walberswick and the unspoilt beeches of Covehithe. It is also a short drive from Snape Maltings and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere. Ground floor: Living room with wood burning stove and French doors into the conservatory; second living room with sofa bed; conservatory with beautiful views, with dining table for up to 6 people, sofa and easy chair; kitchen with breakfast bar and table. First floor: Master bedroom with double bed; second bedroom with 2 single beds; family bathroom with shower/bath. Outside: converted Pony Shed with double bed, French doors and en-suite toilet and shower room. The cottage has WiFi, TV and DVD player. Change over day – preferably Saturday but can be flexible.

Why Margaret B chose Suffolk

Red House cottage has so much character with original brick floors, open fires, beams and Suffolk latch doors. We have given it a new kitchen and bathroom and converted the original "pony shed" into an annexe with en suite shower room.

Its ideal for a family holiday, close to the village shop and friendly historic pub serving good food and Adnams ale.

What makes this house unique

The stunning views from the conservatory and garden single the cottage out. Walks to Walberswick along the estuary with pub lunches. The area is steeped in history with medieval churches and archaeological interests. There are typical English seaside towns, RSPB Minsmere for bird lovers and so much to do if you like to walk and cycle.

A memorable stay!

A lovely cottage, with everything you need and you feel so at home. Beautiful views of the countryside. The pub next door does great food and we visited a couple of times during our stay. Margaret, the owner, was really helpful and ensured that our stay was perfect, brilliant customer service. Visited the local tourist spots and took advantage of chilling out at Red House Cottage. Definitely recommend and will return soon!

Idealic Holiday Retreat!

We had the most fantastic time staying at Red House Cottage, returning home relaxed, happy and with lovely memories. A well-equipped cottage with everything you need supplied for self-catering. Beautiful home-from-home accommodation and the views of the meadow and estuary are stunning. We visited the White Hart Inn a few times as its just a few steps away! The four of us had a great dinner there to celebrate a birthday, with extensive food and wine menus. We visited Southwold which is only about 10 minutes drive away. Margaret, thank you so much for allowing us to stay with our pet dog - we all had a memorable time and will definitely return.
