Sun and the Sea Apartment is the only one in the house with terrace. To the apartment there are 44 steps, it is small (only 20 m2), but very well equipped and every single cm is 'used' for your comfort. Biggest advantage of this apartment is nice terrace (12 m2) with dining table, comfortable chairs, sun umberla. Sun and the Sea Apartment Piran was firstly renovated and furnished for us, the owners, so it is as comfortable as possible! Nice small bedroom with queen bed (160 x 200 cm) is separate from the day room. If there will be 3 of you, 3rd person can sleep in day room on very comfortable sofa bed (90 x 200 cm). Sun and the Sea Apartment Piran has air condition, LCD TV with 120 channels which can be also watched from bedroom, and an internet connection (cable internet and free WiFi) for gloomy days. Dear ladies: kitchen is very cute and newly furnished! :-)
The Sun and the Sea Apartment Piran is located in Apartment house Kristina which is said to be the oldest house in Piran and is under care and preservation of monuments. You can identify it by luxuriant tall palm in front of it. Apart from the outer walls it was fully restored in 2004, equipped with new furniture and air condition so that you will not be hot in hot days, and not cold in cold days.
This is our second holiday apartment, we have lots of experience with guests, coming to Ljubljana in last 9 years (3 apartments in Ljubljana, 2 here in Piran in the same house), although some of you we won't be able to meet as we live 1,5 hours drive away. Find Sun and the City Apartment Ljubljana on HomeAway and you will see that we are reliable owners. Honest word means a lot to us, that's why we are honest to you too. Try us!
Ziga (44 yrs) is mechanical engineer, he is technical director in a company which produces professional kitchens for hotels, schools,... I, Mirjam, (38) work in marketing on catholic radio station (on maternity leave). Renting out the apartments is our “after-job work”. This is the only property we have in Slovenian Istria, but we have "some more" in Ljubljana. :-)
We are blessed with 4 healthy and vital kids: daughter Marusha (6 yrs), Lovro (Lawrence - almost 4 yrs) and twins Jerca and Jost (born on March 23rd 2015). Yes, we have busy days ... and nights ... :-)
Mirjam Judez purchased this apartment in 2012
It is cute, but small, near everything, central, beach 2 minutes away, Tartini square where events are very often during Summer is 1 minute away, terrace ...
We loved this apartment. It was small but very well designed. The terrace was a bonus and we enjoyed meeting Ziga beforehand. Would highly recommend it. Particularly appreciated the detailed info provided by Mirjam in her emails. Thank you Mirjam and Ziga for a unique and memorable stay.
Every year I really enjoy my vacation there. Nice appartment with the best bed in sleeping room and excellent terrace for the afternoon nap. Everything you need is there.
I stayed in this apartment at the end of June. The apartment is located in the center of Piran and you can quickly reach the sea, supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants. The apartment is well equipped and have a beautifull terrace, because is in the middle of the roof and this makes it particularly fascinating.During the holiday I did not need the car, everything is immediately reachable, the town is full of resources and restaurants around have great fish!
I stayed here with my wife and teenage daughter for 3 days in July. We loved the apartment and the views of the rooftops and Church of St George from the terrace. We took mornings swims along the waterfront and enjoyed wandering around the streets and squares of Piran and walking along the coast. We used the bus for a local trip and a car to explore further afield. We plan to return at another time of the year as the climate is quite gentle and there is more to explore.
The owner, Mirjam, was VERY honest about the shortcomings of this apartment. Yes, it is small, yes it is up a lot of stairs, and it is not easy to access! However, it is clean, well furnished, it has good facilities including WiFi, it is very near to a market and shops, and above all the lovely roof terrace which was hard to leave! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would wholeheartedly recommend both the apartment and Piran!
And don't be put off by the unusual booking system; Mirjam takes your booking on trust, and you have to trust her to honour it and give you the access arrangements on arrival. Mirjam clearly takes pride in her property, and she (and her family) are very likeable.
Piran itself is beautiful, with lots of narrow lanes to explore, a charming seafront, and interesting Venetian architecture. A gem!
It is also a good base to explore the area. Croatia is but 15 minutes drive; we visited Pula and Rovinj, both recommended. Trieste in Italy is just 45 minutes drive away, again well worth going to. Nearby Koper and Izola (both on the Slovenian coast) are also well worth a visit.
The local fruit and vegetables are wonderful, as is the wine from the Koper wine region!
English and Italian are widely spoken in the town and the area.
It is about 2 hours drive from Ljubljana Airport, and could be reached easily by public transport. Cars are not permitted in most of Piran, so you have to use the multi-storey car park on the edge of town. Free buses ply between the main square and the car park. There are also plenty of local buses to nearby towns.
Sun and the Sea Apartment Piran is only 200 meters from the nearest beach and only 200 meters from Tartini Square. It is close to food and fish market, supermarket, bakeries, restaurants,... Everything is close, only a few steps away!
There are plenty of nice points for swimming at Piran, just look for them at the beginning of Piran; at the Piran Hotel for the young; the wild beach below the cathedral of St. George for nudes, etc.
Fruit market becomes alive in the morning. But if you want really fresh Slovene fish, just go to the shore and ask fishers if they have any fish for sale. There are 9 churches at Piran. During some periods there were more than 20 churches there. The number is surprising for such a small place. We really recommend sightseeing of church St. George as it has been restored for a long time and now the work is getting to an end. And the view from this spot is gorgeous! Indulge yourself in a wonderful walk from Piran to Portorož (4 km one way) – the most popular walk on slovenian coast! Or shorter 1,5 km (one way) and great walk to Fiesa --- we would recommend you to swim there if walking is not a problem for you.
And on gloomy days we recommend going shopping. There are a few good shopping centres in Koper. If you are not satisfied with our offer we recommend you jumping across the border: Trieste.
PARKING IN PIRAN --- everlasting 'issue'. In Piran there are only about 10 private parkings, all others have to park in garage Fornace.
Whole sleeping and living areas in Piran are quiet - no cars in Piran, no noisy bars next to our Apartment House Kristina. When you come to Piran, you can park your car about 200 m away from the apartment, you carry all the bags to the apartment, repark your car to the parking garage and then go to the apartment by free bus and by feet. The access is not easy only to our apartment house, but to ALL properties and for ALL people; also residents don't like this, but ... it is not difficult to accept something you can't change, right? :-)
