About Bill Michels

We are a Twin Cities architect and artist who are always thrilled to spend time in Duluth. The House and Cottage on Park Point is our little place away from home to do that. We have enjoyed remodeling and updating the house and cottage and turning it into a comfortable home away from home. It's given us the opportunity to do something a little different that we can share with everyone else.

Bill Michels purchased this house in 2005

Why Bill Michels chose Duluth

The beach is like nothing else in this part of the country, it's like being at the ocean. The water is warm enough to swim in, you can walk forever, and the infamous MN mosquito's are practically non existent because of the breezes off the lake. It's certainly a bonus to be a 15 minute walk down the beach to Canal Park or a short drive to the North Shore of Lake Superior.

What makes this house unique

We are just a bit unique in that there are two units we rent together. Put the kids in one or even grandma if she prefers to have her own quarters. Sometimes it's just a fight to see who gets the cottage!

And of course the location- beach, Canal Park, Lake Superior, the North Shore, restaurants...!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hey Bill,Just wanted to let you know....Anyhow that is a gorgeous place, it was the coolest design and decorating, I fell in love with it. I just wanted you to know that you did an excellent job, I felt like it was from a magazine. Thank you for letting us stay in your rental and for letting us bring our pets. We had a great time, and will tell everyone about the greatest place in Duluth. Thanks again.Megan

Fabulous two days. Best family vacation ever. Two buildings allow flexibility for day naps and for those who do not snooze. My family barely left the house, it was so comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Glorious kitchen with upscale stove and sink.

House was beautiful Bathroom in the house had wonderful tub and stonework. The cabin felt like a family cabin that you are coming back year after year. Beds were very comfortable. Nice sized yard.

We walked to Canal Park and to the lift bridge to see the ships arriving. We swam 3 times a day. Only a short walk though the dunes to a beautiful, clean beach. I miss it already.

The beach house was wonderful. Lovely kitchen that was well stocked,

The location is great. We walked into Canal Park from the beach and the road several times. It was also great to use the bikes. The dining room was wonderful to have family meals.

It was nice to have the little cottage for our large family, but it was somewhat musty.

We also had great weather so we spent a lot of time on the great beach right there.

We loved the place - Grandparents, kids and grandkids had a wonderful time! We really lucked out on the weather and were able to have more beach time than we were expecting. What a gorgeous beach! We had no idea that it even existed. The house and cottage were really great accommodations for all of us. We highly recommend it, and we will be back! Thanks for a wonderful long weekend!

Perfect get away spot

  • 5 of 5

This property is great for multi-family with adequate space and great gathering areas such as the Bon fire area, large dining table and great beach access!

Bathrooms were nice and sleeping arrangements all work very well!

Highly recommend! And I will come back again!

If the weather had been nice it would have been perfect!

The accomadtions were great. Adorable house that had everything we needed. My son and granddaughters slept in the beach house so we were able to have breakfast together and start our day together. The weather did not cooperate but if it had been nicer out it would have been perfect, we made the best of it. I would recommend staying here without a doubt, owner was very accomadating.
