LITTLE COTTAGE IN HISTORIC SILVER PLUME IS LOCATED IN CLEAR CREEK COUNTY JUST A FEW MILES FROM IDAHO SPRINGS, THE MOST POPULOUS TOWN IN CLEAR CREEK COUNTY.
SILVER PLUME IS THE CLOSEST TOWN TO LOVELAND SKI RESORT IF SKIING OR SNOWBOARDING IS YOUR THING. THE TOWN OF SILVER PLUME LOOKS LIKE IT WAS FROZEN IN TIME; OLD FACADES OF VICTORIAN ERA BRINGS YOU BACK TO COLORADO GOLD RUSH DAYS... The cottage was built in 1875 as far as we could research it. We found some old newspapers and books in the crawlspace area.
The cottage is comprised of 2 bedrooms furnished with a queen size bed each. One full bathroom has a new and beautiful claw footed tub and a new vanity. We were trying to decorate the cottage in Victorian /pseudo Victorian Style as contemporary furnishings did not work well in this historic property. The living room has a love-seat and 2 arm chairs and a desk. There is a flat screen TV on the wall across from the love-seat.
The kitchen is equipped with a new gas stove/range, new refrigerator, a microwave, a dining table/chairs for 4 guests and 2 arm chair with a small coffee table there. There is a stack-able new washer/dryer in the corner.
The cottage is in the middle of COLORADO FRONT RANGE OF ROCKY MOUNTAINS WITH EASY ACCESS TO DENVER (~45 MIN) AND DILLON (DILLON LAKE), VAIL, AVON, ASPEN AND WESTERN SLOPE.
There is an old Depot within a walking distance from the cottage where you can take a steam train to Georgetown and visit some mines on the way there. There is an old School House -Museum in Silver Plume. Find out its hours before you visit. Kids will like a little playground we have in Silver Plume. Adults may enjoy Apothecary bar that mostly is open on Friday and Saturday nights.
There are some beautiful trails in Silver Plume that can take you way up high to the elevation over 9000 ft. Another way to get "high" is to visit local green shop. We don't promote any marijuana smoking and it is strictly prohibited to smoke anything in the cottage on on the premises. We are family oriented and rent the cottage mostly to family with children. Kids will find a lot of movies and books at the cottage.
The nearest historic town is Georgetown, an administrative capital of Clear Creek County. You will find a lot of restaurants, coffee shops and museums there.
Dillon and Frisco are the next mountain towns after the Eisenhower tunnel.
OUR FAMILY LOVES THIS HISTORIC AREA OF COLORADO: ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRONT RANGE. IT IS RICH IN NUMEROUS ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES AND SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL NATURE. WE VISITED MOST OF LOCAL ATTRACTIONS INCLUDING OLD MINES WHERE YOU CAN TAKE A TOUR AND MINE FOR GOLD. WE DID ZIP LINING THIS YEAR: LOTS OF FUN!
js purchased this cottage in 2008
Location of the cottage is great: you can enjoy everything Colorado has to offer: Gold Rush history, picturesque surroundings of old mining towns, railroad history, gorgeous nature, scenic drives such as Mt Evans Scenic Byway or 'Oh, My God' Road to historic Central City, tons of trails, great biking, Whitewater rafting right here on Clear Creek, Hot Mineral Springs, great skiing at Loveland a few minutes away.
If you like geology and mining history you can take a guided tour at numerous historic mines in the area or Red Rock State Park and Amphitheater to admire unique red rock formations. There is a creek by the cottage. we never fished there but some people do.
We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the cabin. It was perfect for our needs. It's in a great location and the neighbors were friendly and welcoming. We are look forward to returning in the future.
Property was found as described. Everything was in good working order. Idaho springs has a bit to offer and did not miss the resorts at all. Thank you for sharing your cottage with my family.
This cute cabin fit our needs of two bedrooms and all the needed amenities. It is nothing fancy but clean and functional and is as described in the listing. Julia was easy to work with. Just be prepared that there isn't much storage space for clothes and stuff in the bedrooms.
The cabin we stayed in Idaho Springs turns out to be a real historic miner's cabin built in very beginning of last century. There is an actual mine nearby to take a tour. The location was perfect: just a few blocks to the center of Idaho Springs, restaurants, BBQ spots, coffee shops and more. We loved to walk the old streets of this historic town and admire facades of little Victorian houses. We went to an antique shop, coffee shop, Ice-cream shop and Pinball Parlor. We had dinner at Smoking Yard BBQ (great food by the way) and Tommy-knockers Brewery. We did white water rafting ( highly recommend!) and zip lining during our stay.
It was nice to come back to the cabin as our "home away from home" to relax on the deck in the back. The patio furniture is new and comfortable. We had BBQ one day there. The neighbor around and people in Idaho Springs are very nice and friendly.
The cabin was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The view from the front porch and back yard very very nice. The kitchen was fully equipped. The cabin isn't big but it is comfortable for 4-5 guests. We are thinking about coming back in winter to try some skiing or snowboarding in Loveland.
We had such a good time at Julia's Cabin in Idaho Springs. The cabin is cozy and offers a nice view from the deck. It is within a short walk to the historic part of Idaho Springs. We enjoyed walking to the restaurants nearby and small coffee shops. We ski Loveland Ski resort in just a few miles from the cabin. It was great to go to the hot springs nearby to relax after a day of skiing. We also visited another historic town nearby where they have casinos and good restaurants. Cabin had everything we needed for enjoyable stay. Julia provided a lot of information about surrounding area. It helped us to plan a great trip to the Rockies.
Colorado is a gorgeous State. Cannot wait to visit again!
The cabin was as described in the VRBO description plus very homey and well appointed. We enjoyed the cabin and loved Idaho Springs (IS). We toured the Argo mine and panned for gold, drove to the top of Mount Evans, enjoyed walking to Miner street to visit shops and eat at the Main Street Restaurant. We also took in Central City and Black Hawk for a little gambling. I would definitely return to the cabin as it was a great fit for my two sisters and me.
Julia was informative and responsive throughout. This quaint, well-appointed cottage is really perfect for a romantic get-a-way, but it also proved to be an excellent launching point for fun in the snow at Loveland and relaxing times in Georgetown and Idaho Springs for myself and my children! Highly recommend and very grateful for Julia's hospitality!
