An opportunity to stay in a bright, delightfully spacious Victorian apartment with its own pretty sunny garden in which to relax. Stockbridge is a very popular area with a village like feel and offers a superb choice of boutique shops, fashionable bars, small cafes and delis. A recent article in The Times declared Stockbridge the 3rd coolest place to live in the UK!
This upper colony flat is set in a quiet cobbled street beside the Water of Leith and is one of a historical collection of homes, 'the Stockbridge colonies' built in the mid/late19th century by a cooperative of local artisans to provide affordable housing for the skilled local workers. Entry via an external stone stairway. Internally the house retains its period charm.
When you have exhausted exploring all the small, quirky individual shops in the local area, you will find excellent city centre shopping on George Street and Princes Street, a 15 minute walk for the young or fit but the apartment is well served by numerous local buses. There is the option to buy a daily bus ticket which offers unlimited bus travel with a special price for families.
Both the Botanic Gardens and the wide open spaces of Inverleith park are less than 10 minutes walk. The Water of Leith walkway is a few steps from the door and this offers a wonderful wooded walk through the city. I particularly recommend a walk from Stockbridge up the river to Dean village and The Modern Art Gallery for lunch or coffee. This area is a walker/runners' paradise.
But, we are on the edge of the City Centre so you will face parking restrictions. Parking in the local streets cost £1.60 per hour from 8.30 to 17.30, Monday to Friday, with a restriction of a maximum of 4 hours parking permitted in any one session. Outside these times, you are free to park in parking bays and on single yellow lines. If you want to bring a car to Edinburgh city centre then please contact me to discuss other parking options.
Stockbridge is easily accessible from Waverley Station or the airport. Waverley or Haymarket stations to Stockbridge are a 20 minute downhill walk and Edinburgh International airport is served by a tram service to York Place or the Airlink 100 bus to George Street. From there, it is a 15 minute downhill walk or a 5 minute bus ride.
All of Edinburgh's many attractions are either on the doorstep or easily reached by bus or taxi.
The flat is spacious and very comfortable, with very good beds and plenty of towels, blankets etc. The whole place is bright and well furnished. Everything was as described or even better. Extremely well equipped and with a most generous provision of food items and many little extra touches that made us feel very welcome. I have stayed in a number of properties in this area and this was by far the best in terms of facilities and value.
Stockbridge is a beautiful area, with many handsome old buildings and quirky little corners which it's great fun to explore. It's quite close to the city centre and the Georgian New Town, with excellent bus routes. The river winds through the area, with delightful walks along the banks, leading in one direction towards the Modern Art Gallery. The Botanical Gardens are also within walking distance. Plenty of shops and cafes and a Sunday market, make for easy and interesting shopping and eating out.

Wir haben unsere Osterferien, mit unseren beiden Jungs (12 und 15 Jahre) in diesem wirklich netten Ferienhaus in Stockbridge verbracht.
Das Haus strahlt einen besonderen Flair aus.
Alles war sehr sauber und nett eingerichtet.
Wir hatten zu viert ausreichend Platz.
Die Küche war sehr gut eingerichtet, es fehlte an nichts. Alle notwendigen Gewürze und Öle waren vorhanden. Patricia hat sogar den Kühlschrank für ein erstes Frühstück bestückt, danke nochmals dafür!
Das Bad hat einen Waschtrockner, alle Kosmetikartikel, Handtücher und Waschpulver sind vorhanden. Man kann getrost mit kleinem Gepäck anreisen.
Die Wohnung befindet sich in einer wirklich ruhigen Wohngegend, gleich neben einem Schwimmbad. Mehrer Supermärkte befinden sich in unmittelbarer Umgebung ( ca. 5 min Fußweg). Dort befinden sich auch viele kleine Second Hand Läden, die zum stöbern einladen. Restaurants und Pubs sind ebenfalls schnell zu erreichen.
Ins Stadtzentrum von Edinburgh läuft man etwa 25 min.
Wir haben uns für unseren Aufenthalt eine Edinburgh Royal Card gekauft und konnten damit einige Sehenswürdigkeiten besichtigen sowie die Hopp off Hopp on Busse 48 Stunden nutzen. Einige Museen sind in Edinburgh sogar kostenlos!
Fazit: Sehr zu empfehlen, wir kommen bestimmt wieder.
This is a wonderful comfortable apartment, very clean with every little thing you will need available. Great location not far from town centre yet still nice and quiet. Good shops nearby including great cheese shop. Would highly recommend this apartment. Patricia is lovely.
Charming apartment in a quiet neighborhood, minutes from everything you need. Very close to the entry to the Leith Waters Walkway which I enjoyed very much. On one of my walks I found myself in the city center without realizing, it was so close. Patricia was very kind and had essentials in the kitchen, coffee and milk and wine...what more do you need! I was by myself and felt very safe. I would definitely rent this property again!
Patricia really made a special wffort to make this flat feel festive and comfortable for our Christmas week stay, with tasteful decorations everywhere and the kitchen kitted out to allow us to cook a full Christmas dinner. The lounge felt like home, the beds and bedding were high quality - and location is ideal, with an easy walk into the city centre or handy bus routes nearby. The walk from just outside along the Water of Leith to Dean Village and the modern art gallery is to be recommended. The Stockbridge restaurant just around the corner is about as good as it gets. In conclusion, this property is very highly recommended.

No fixed changeover days. Flexible with arrival and departure times; please confirm at time of booking. If you book less than 3 months prior to arrival then I require 100% payment on booking, if, however, your arrival date is more than 3 months in the future, then I am happy to receive 25% deposit payable within 5 days of booking and the remaining balance of the rental fee 6 weeks prior to your arrival date. I will also require a £200 security deposit on arrival. The security deposit less any loss or breakage costs will be refunded within two weeks of the end of the rental period.
Please note that the quoted prices are fully inclusive - there are no extra charges for local taxes or final cleaning of the apartment, and only ask that guests leave the apartment in the condition in which they found it.
All major credit cards and debit cards through PayPal with secure online email confirmation OR payment by Electronic Bank Transfer is accepted.
A full refund will be given, providing at least 60 days notice is given prior to the intended start of the rental period. A 50% refund will be given, providing at least 30 days notice is given prior to the intended start of the rental period. In addition, I will refund up to 100% of the rental payment if I am able to re-let any nights in your booking period. Rest assured that I will do my utmost to re-sell the accommodation. Please note that all cancellations must be received in writing/email. Note that these cancellation policies supersede any indicated on the HomeAway site.
