Located overlooking Funchal, yet within easy walking distance of the town centre, in an upmarket residential area, Villa Luzia has superb uninterrupted views of the town, hills and sea and is probably one of the very best on the island.
Featuring a superb large heated indoor pool and amazing leisure and social area, it is furnished to an exceptionally high standard, attention to detail is evident everywhere. From Duresta sofas to Carpe Diem beds (as used by the Swedish Royal Family) supreme comfort is assured throughout.
The open-plan lounge/dining is vast (12,5m X 5,7m) and offers two ample seating areas and an elegant dining table. French windows lead onto the garden and front terrace. Featured in a corner is a large flat screen TV with cable channels, surround sound system and DVD.
The kitchen is large, contemporary and very well equipped, with 4-ring electric hob, built-in electric oven, dishwasher, double-door American style fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker and juicer. A breakfast table benefits from the views to the hills and ocean through the French doors that lead to the front terrace. A flat screen cable TV allows you to keep up with the news at breakfast time.
A separate barbecue room features a bread oven, traditional Madeira barbecue for grilling espetada and electric hob and sink.
The whole of the lower floor is an amazing social and leisure area. Table tennis, table football and a pool table are complemented by a variety of table games (poker, mah-jong, rummycub, and children’s games) and features an outstanding middle-east inlaid table for backgammon, chess and draughts. A seating corner with a large flat-screen TV with CD player (a variety of music is available) is served by a fully equipped bar. It leads to the steps that access the indoor pool and a visitor’s toilet.
A large office with desk and meeting table can be found off the leisure area, a great solution for those needing to deal with business whilst on holiday.
The bedrooms are all beautifully furnished; four are on the first floor (three with en-suite bathrooms) along with a family shower room. The Master bedroom is very spacious and features a dressing area and en-suite bathroom with whirlpool bath and walk-in shower. Both this and the second bedroom have private balconies with those superb views.
The fifth bedroom is on the ground floor, suitable for those with limited mobility.
All beds are Carpe Diem king-sized doubles with conjoined single mattresses, guaranteeing the greatest comfort.
The heated pool is nothing short of spectacular. Very large at 8,5m X 5,5m it is an interior pool with large glass panes that open up to the garden and view, perfect for both summer and winter, surrounded by easy chairs and sunbeds. There are changing/shower rooms and toilet facilities available.
For those that want to keep up their fitness regime, there is a bicycle, treadmill and cross-walker on a mezzanine overlooking the pool.
Sunbeds are provided for the garden and front terrace.
The south-facing front terrace is perched overlooking the town and ocean, and is partially covered, allowing the choice of catching the sun or keeping in the shade, whilst appreciating those gorgeous views, perfect for watching the cruise ships arrive and depart and for the June and New Years Eve firework displays. Garden furniture includes sun-beds, and two large dining tables with a capacity for 12 people, perfect for alfresco family meals, and tables and chairs for reading or for those sunset evening cocktails.
A separate laundry features a washing machine and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board
Wi-Fi is available throughout the house and the also in swimming pool area.
Although not essential, as in most villas, a hire car is recommended.
There is secure car parking for two cars.
The advertised prices are based on a 6-person occupancy and supplements apply should additional people join you for any length of time.
A security deposit of 500€ or £500 is payable on arrival in cash. This is returned should there be no breakages or damage to the property.
To secure your reservation, a deposit of 30% is required, or the full amount if within 8 weeks or arrival, and the balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. Should you cancel up to 8 weeks prior to arrival only the deposit is non-refundable, and whitin this period the full amount.
