'Le Marronnier'…Our beautiful house sits on the green of chestnut trees overlooking 13C Church - St Didier and only a minutes’ stroll to the best Boulangerie in town and typical French café. Purchased with our guests in mind location was important, enjoy the peaceful location with amenities on the door step and the must do’s of the area close by; great recipe for holidaying in Burgundy…the home of French gastronomy.
'Le Marronnier' is Brand New to the rental market for 2015 -our renovation project over the past two years - where a lot of love, attention to detail & 'very' hard work has finally come to fruition & it's our pleasure to launch our much loved French home, as a rental property - for full enjoyment.
Upon arrival, The 'Place des Marronniers' is a beautiful tranquil setting adjacent to the classified church; climb up the beautiful white burgundy stone staircase, push open the grey-tone front door and be welcomed by the Stylish open-plan ground floor living space we have created.
Impeccably designed; Old meets New. Comfort meets practicality. A whole lot of heart…you will feel that ‘Coup de Coeur’ when entering Le Marronier for the first time-wow…
A cook's dream...My kitchen is equipped for me and how I like my kitchen to be -…with top of the range Cuisinart designer appliances, Nespresso coffee maker, Langustina cookware, every glass, cooks utensil, and serving dish required – It’s there! The bar area of the kitchen was my ‘must have’ perfect for socializing & keeping the cook company!
The Dining area - is our Cosy ‘Bistro’ inspired niche… The PANTONE Marsala red (Interior colour of the year 2015) was our inspiration, matched with bistro table & chairs and completed with contemporary dimmer controlled lighting. The adjacent armoire is complete with crisp white crockery, Lagioule cutlery, glassware, & accessories for full enjoyment while entertaining.
The Sitting area & Corner Bureau – lounging around in front of the fire, reading a book, watching TV(English channels included), hooking up the iphone or ipod, or surfing on the ipad – you have everything you need for relaxing and passing time when on holiday.
n.b.The construction of the downstairs – Oak beam ‘Plafond a la Francaise’, Stone floors & Wall.
Up the twin staircase there are two luminous deluxe bedrooms - which can be configured as 2 King or 1 king & 1 Twin. Both rooms are decorated in French muted greys & beiges however, individually furnished & accessorized. Linens areToile de Jouy & Jaquard, furniture Louis IV inspired, solid Oak floors & painted beam work adds to the modern elegance of the rooms.
Wet room style shower room, the beautiful old-style grey ‘carreau ciment’ fabulously dresses the wall amongst the contemporary white tiles & chrome fixtures & fittings. The bathroom is equipped with hair dryer & straightening irons for the ladies.
Outside-In…There is a wonderful private sun filled decked roof terrace, equipped with parasol, Luxemburg white furniture & BBQ – perfect for early morning coffee or evening aperitif after a long day out! The terrace is accessed directly from the open plan living area, the large glass door of the kitchen disappears into the wall bringing the outside in.

We live a culturally challenging life(!) with our family in Burgundy...
We met 10 years ago, and friendship led to Love, then came marriage & our son Oliver. Our family extends regularly to six with Christophe's three adorable children Nicolas, Tom & Lea - We enjoy a very close, happy & funfilled family time when all together.
Christophe owns his own Plumbing & Heating company.
I am partner in a Renovation & Property Management Company.

The Village has everything you need, if you really didn;t want to go further afield.
Christophe had the drive to make something 'extra specia'l by reconstructing certain areas.
I had the vision how to renovate & decorate the interiors.
Le gîte est fidèle en tous points à la description et aux photographies. Charme, qualité, variété de l'équipement et calme sont au rendez-vous. Nous avons passé une belle semaine en famille et cuisiné comme à la maison. Les "petits plus": la bouteille de Crémant au frais, la doc. récente de l'office de tourisme ... Et la gentillesse de Lee-Ann et de sa famille.

Le Marronier was a cute little house with all modern amenities inside. It was cozy and listening to the church bells was very peaceful. There was a welcome bottle of Cremant which was much appreciated. This was an ideal location to start your Burgundy exploration from. Don't miss the museum in Chantillon sur Seine to see the Vix display and history of the Gauls>>excellent and 15 min. away.
We really enjoyed our stay .
Beautifully converted property, spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. Good facilities for self catering. Close to a boulangerie; bar; small supermarket. The toilet is downstairs which was a little bit of a problem with an elderly member of the family as the stairs are a little steep to use during the night, but just a small point that maybe needed to be borne in mind. It was lovely to sit out on the sunny balcony to eat, drink and be merry. A little disappointing as there was no view because it overlooked a small yard however it was really tranquil and again didn't detract from the quality, relaxing stay we all enjoyed.
Delightful area to explore and a visit to Dijon is recommended. If you take a good map and use the country roads you'll hardly see another car and it's fabulous driving.
The property is very close to a church which has 24/7 bells for the time. We didn't find them at all obtrusive but this should be considered. We enjoyed a game of boules in the church yard area.
If you have a golfer in the family there is a basic course about 10 minutes drive away.
The house is very well appointed with all the amenities needed for a week's break and very modern. To access the property you go up an external stone staircase. The main living/kitchen area was attractive and had enough space for 2 couples and comes with great equipment in the kitchen, which is easy to use (sometimes this isn't the case in other properties) and tv in the living area, which was used for watching the Euro 2016 tournament. Good internet connection as well. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, though the stairs to them were steep and only had a banister on one side. This was a problem for me as I had recently broken my arm 3 weeks before we stayed here. The bathroom was on the main level and had a great shower! At the rear of the property is a verandah which was good for eating outside. At ground level at the front of the property is where the washing machine, drier and other facilities are stored. The room is big enough to store bikes if you take any with you. Whilst I wasn't able to cycle during this break, the others did and it's a great place to ride! In front of the property is a green and parking area. This was a great place to play boules every day. If there is anything your unsure about, Lee-Anne is only a phone call away and is very helpful. Her recommendations for places to eat out were great, as were the places to stop off and sample (and maybe buy!) on on the Route de Cremant. Whilst I've been in the area before, stumbling across Noyers for the first time was great! An amazingly beautiful small town. Another place with worth going to is Irancy, as the views when descending into the village are wonderful. Some great places to taste wine but my particular favorite was the Caves Bienvenu!
Overall, a great place to base yourself for a break.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable cottage. It has all the amenities and was exactly as described and pictured, which helped us enjoy a five night transition between our travels in Italy and into France. Lee-Anne was so responsive to our questions and made our stay even more enjoyable. Looking forward to a return visit!
We spent the month of December in this wonderful house. Everything was five star plus, from the luxuriously outfitted bathroom with rain shower and soft luxurious white towels to the excellenty outfitted gourmet kitchen with high quality glassware, cutlery and cooking utensils.
Both Lee-Anne and Christophe were an absolute pleasure to deal with and very warm and accommodating and went out of their way repeatedly to make us feel welcome.
We all really enjoyed the convenience of being able to park right outside the house in a lovely shaded park fronting onto a historic church.
The house is very tastefully decorated and everything is clean and fresh with very nice bed linens. It is evident from every detail how much care, forthought and pride Lee-Anne and Christophe put into completly renovating the house.
The house is convenienty located to Chatillon-sur-Seine (15min) with excellent restaurants that were recommended to us by Lee-Anne. The road to Chattilon is one of my favorite stretches to drive (wish I had my motorcycle with me).
Many other tourist sights are located within a pleasant drive.
We had a wonderful stay in Laignes and recommend it without any reservations.
Activities…Take the ‘Route de Cremant’ and visit the abundance of local wine cellars, Visit the attic of painter Renoir, Nip across the border to Champagne, Take a day out to the market & Hospice de Beaune, Hire bikes and discover the true beauty of Chatillonnais – VTT bike routes on the doorstep, taking you through the villages & forests, Sit and watch the world go by on the café terraces in Dijon & magical local towns…
