This property was exactly as the pictures show. We stayed for 6 days and celebrated our wedding. We were a group of 17 adults and a 6 month old baby. Bianca and Maria were there to greet us with wine, cheese and crackers and music, they were so welcoming.
They set up pasta making for the first night and it was the best pasta I have ever had. They set up a visit to Citta di Castello one day and on another day we visited Renzizi factory and had dinner at their flagship restaurant. That same day we went to Donini wines which was one of our favorite places and wine in Italy. If you like wine Doninis is a must during your visit.
The wedding was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The ceremony under a gazebo and a 5 course meal and wine served in the garden with drinks and dancing following by the pool. The same women who did our pasta making night one, also catered the dinner and they were some of our favorite people in Italy.
The biggest challenge for us was the language barrier. We only speak english. Luckily someone in our group spoke a little italian. Better have the translator app out if not. Also the wifi was not working, they did try to fix it, but it was not resolved by the times we left.
It is really necessary to have a car. They set up a bus and driver for the group and it work fine, but it would have been nicer to have a car. I would recommend this place to anyone for an event or just a relaxing few days.
We arrived after a beautiful drive from Florence and were very graciously greeted by our host the owner of the estate. She is a true Italian noble with great knowledge of the region. We felt like honored guests. The villa has amazing views and is private and serene set in acres of rolling landscape and sunflower fields. We could see Tuscany, and Umbria from our window. Our suites were furnished in grand traditional Italian style and was perfect for our family reunoin of 15 plus baby. The pool is large, lovely and relaxing. It was hard to tear ourselves away from the comfort to visit the nearby towns. We particularly enjoyed San Sepolcro in Tuscany for dinner. We did some cooking ourselves and also enjoyed having a chef come and cook a special farewell dinner for us which was quite a treat. We will definitely make this a family tradition to come back again and visit our new friends in Italy.
The Tuscany/Umbria border is a spectacularly beautiful and peaceful area much loved by international visitors, celebrities, VIPs and the Italian nobility. This is your perfect gateway location to enjoy all the most famous treasures of Italy. You are within easy driving distance of all of Tuscany and Umbria and both Italian coasts. Enjoy excursions to towns including Siena, San Gimigniano, nearby Cortona, San Sepolcro, Montone, Citta di Castello. Visit Vinci the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci where there is a spectacular museum. Caprese, the birthplace of Michelangelo is also nearby.
The area is filled with charming sites from ancient and medieval history, castles, mounntains and stunning scenery. The landscape here is more dramatic than the gentle rolling hills of Tuscany, with the spectacular Apennine mountain range providing a backdrop to this scarcely populated inland region which borders Lazio and le Marche also.
The towns of Perugia and Assisi are full of art and medieval architecture, both must-sees on any visit. The hill-top town of Assisi in particular, the home of St Francis the founder of the revered Franciscan order, is on a well trodden pilgrimage route, its pink walls gleam in the sunlight from all around, such is its elevated position and fame.
South west of Perugia is Norcia, an area more reminiscent of Switzerland than Italy, such is its green and lush forests, valleys and mountains. One of the few, still complete, medieval walled towns in Italy (Siena and Lucca being others), Norcia is renowned for its local produce, in particular its pork, salami's, cheese, lentils and truffles. Activities here include truffle hunting with specially trained dogs, wine and olive oil tasting, cookery classes and even visiting the pig farm where the free range herd come running from the nearby forest at the sound of the farmers call.
The Property is 15 minutes from the extraordinary loveliness of Tuscany. Florence, Siena, Cortona, Tuscany's natural beauties are outstanding, with mountains of marble dropping down to a rolling countryside, topped by elegant cypress trees, quilted with vineyards and olive groves and fringed by beaches of golden sand. Overlaying this natural beauty is more than 2,000 years of history.
Lucca with its 16th Century ramparts protecting an historic centre filled with churches, shops and a vast amphitheatre, has some of Italy's finest beaches within half an hour's drive. Set around the Arno River, Florence epitomises Tuscany's greatest artistic achievements. Chianti is perhaps the most beautiful rural region, nature tamed by centuries of farming, picture-perfect images of sun-drenched landscapes where every ear of corn seems to have been combed into place. The ancient walled city-state of Montalcino is especially famous for its Brunello grapes, key to the region's fine and valuable wines.Beautifully positioned close to all of Tuscany's richest Renaissance cities, Cortona is a charming town, with a medieval centre threading labyrinthine around more recent Renaissance palaces. The coastal area around Grosetto is worth a visit and a day trip to the Isola d'Elba where Napoleon was exiled is within easy reach.
