This wonderful apartment is located in Via della Croce, one of the most elegant streets of the historic center, a few steps from the Spanish Steps. It is located on the second floor of an old building and consists of a large living room with dining area, a modern fitted kitchen, two double bedrooms (one with double bed and the other with two single beds) and two bathrooms. Overall we had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect and quite accessible. We had minor problems with opening and locking the doors but when we got the trick it was all fine.
My husband, med school-aged daughter and I stayed here for three nights and were very pleased. The apartment was bright, very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and the shower was terrific. Washer dryer worked well. The beds were very comfortable and attractive. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, . We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. The apartment is one block from the Spanish steps and there is a cab stand which makes early morning flights to the airport a breeze.
This apartment was in a great location, right in the middle of shopping and restaurant area. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful place, this may not be your site. The manager who checked us in and out was most cooperative, even when we had do postpone checkout by a couple of hours. Very much recommend this apartment.
For sight-seeing, you can hardly do better than this cute apartment near the Spanish Steps. Emmanuele met us as we pulled up in a taxi & showed us how everything worked. Had a little trouble figuring out the clothes washer but eventually managed. Loved leaning out the windows looking into a courtyard on one side & a small street on the other. Nice sized living room & small but adequate bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen. All were clean & well appointed. Lots of restaurants & shops in the area; venture off the main square to find the best prices. Thanks to Emmanuele for his recommendations on sights not to miss & places to eat. We recommend going through Weekly Rentals for arranging transportation to & from the train station or airport. We would certainly stay here again.
Be aware that the fees you pay on arrival (damage deposit, cleaning fee, tax) need to be in cash (dollars or euro) while the balance due on the apartment can be paid by credit card.
We had some problems to check in, we had to do it a day after; the apartment was not clean and ready and it was 7pm at night. We had an argument with the owner of the apartment, who we called to complain about the condition of the flat when we came in; he was the rudest person on the phone, to say the least. His attitude was just horrible but we made an arrangement and after that everything was fine (we didn't have to contact him again). Rafaelle (a nice guy who checked us in and helped us with our luggage) made the arrangements to get it cleaned, but the staff left 15 minutes later and the apartment was not neat (the didn't vaccum properly under the beds and furniture) but we were able to manage. Beware that the elevator will not service for this apartment, they won't let you use it and you have to use the stairs only. The apartment do needs some maintenance in the closets (musty and smelly) and in the bathrooms, mostly. The matresses on the single beds were old. We made most arrangements with Lucrezzia by email and she was really nice.
Besides all of the above, We enjoyed a lot staying at via de la croce 81 in Piazza Spagna; it is conveniently located near great restaurants (we had delicious dinner at "the 34") supermarkets (coop and carrefour within a walking distance) and shopping (via del corso and via fratina, along with the shops in Piazza Spagna and the small streets around). Venchi and Pompi icecreams are just steps from there. There is an Enoteca right in front where they have a delicious trufatta sauce!
You are in the heart of ancient Rome, a few minutes from the most important monuments of the Eternal City. The apartment is located in Via della Croce, a few steps from the famous Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps). The elegance is without a doubt the main feature of the square. It is no coincidence in the three Vie Trident (Via del Corso, Via del Babbuino and Via di Ripetta) are concentrated stores of the most famous and exclusive designer labels. Piazza di Spagna, the framework offered by the ocher-colored buildings, Bernini's fountain and staircase on which stands the church Trinita dei Monti help to create a refined and eighteenth century. Former home of famous poets such as John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley, the square is now a cultural heritage of inestimable value. Located at the foot of the hill of the Pincio, Piazza di Spagna has always been the center of cultural life and tourism in the city of Rome. Nearby, Piazza del Popolo is definitely one of the most famous in the world. The twin churches of Santa Maria Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli, the Obelisco Flaminio (the oldest and the second highest of Rome), and the two fountains of Valadier help to create a charming atmosphere. And, yet, the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, built on the burial site of Emperor Nero, and his damned soul, and adjacent premises, which have become an integral part of the square and once frequented by people dear to the history of Rome as trilussa, Guttuso and Pasolini make Piazza del Popolo the cultural symbol of the 'Roman'. From here it is an easy walk to the Trevi Fountain. Before you get away do not forget to throw a coin into the fountain, you will ensure the return to the Eternal City. If you are in search of true love, perhaps of Italian nationality, throw then a second, a third, finally, to be sure to get married soon…
