About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 12

Nestled on five pristine acres just inland from the waters of East Sound, and poised on the northern end of the San Juan National Wildlife Refuge, this lovely and spacious East Sound vacation rental home with room for 12 is waiting to be your home base as you explore the beauty and diversity of the Orcas Islands. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two full kitchens, it's the perfect haven for your family getaway, reunion, or business retreat. You'll be just five miles from busy Eastsound where you'll find several restaurants, numerous gift stores, and a large grocery store.

Cedar Field has plenty of living area for everyone, whether you want to get together and chat, or go your separate ways. With lots of comfortable nooks and crannies, there are plenty of places to escape with a book, a sketchbook, or a laptop (free WIFI). When it's cold and rainy, you can snuggle up by the wood fireplace upstairs, or the woodstove downstairs. Stream a show on Netflix, or grab DVD from the library and pass the time with a movie. And when the weather's nice, there are simpler pleasures out on the big deck where you'll be beguiled by the amazing views of Turtleback Mountain and Crow Valley.

This bi-level gem has five bedrooms across two independent living areas and is perfect for two families or groups who want the option of a little more privacy. Two of the cozy bedrooms are upstairs, each with a queen bed, each smartly decorated with wood floors covered with area rugs, and plenty of closet and drawer space. Head downstairs where you'll find three more comfortable bedrooms, two of which also have queen beds. Put the kids in the fifth bedroom downstairs on its two twin beds. And a big group needs lots of bathrooms; no problem. This lovely home has three full baths, one of which has a deep soaking tub where you can take turns relaxing in its bubbly warmth. There's a washer and dryer, too, so you'll always have a fresh change of clothes.

Whether you're staying upstairs or down, you'll have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Each has the requisite stove, microwave, and dishwasher you'd expect to make both meals and clean ups quick and easy. Both are roomy and have all the pots, pans, utensils and cutlery you'll need to feed your hungry clan. Enjoy your meals at the dining tables on each level. On those days when the clouds over Puget part and the skies light up with sunshine, there is a gas grill outside just waiting for your hamburgers, steaks, or salmon. And just for fun, get a blaze going in the firepit and have some fun under the Northwest sky! (Please note that wood is provided for the inside wood stove but you should bring your own wood for the outside firepit.)

When you step onto Orcas Island, you step back in time! Less developed than its neighbor, San Juan Island, the island is a sea of green filled with gorgeous red madrona trees and lush foliage. With 40 miles of trails to explore, it's a hiker and cyclist's dream! Bring the camera to the top of Mount Constitution and get some breathtaking shots. Bring your appetite to one of the many eateries in Eastsound where you'll also find some wonderful shops where you can purchase every manner of pottery or artwork. Visit the farmer's market at the nearby public park. Or, just grab the equipment right there at the home and enjoy a fun game of horseshoes, volleyball, croquet, or badminton.

About Vacasa, WA - San Juans / Puget Sound Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great house for multiple families and fun Island to stay on

  • 4 of 5

Orcas Island was a magical place full of adventure at Moran State Park and life in the ocean that was so accessible all around. We enjoyed shopping in Eastsound, hiking and swimming at Moran state park, sailing through Orcas Island Sailing Co. (Nat is awesome) and motored around with a boat rental through Orcas Boat rentals. Allow wiggle time for such scheduled events because phone service is spotty (you will lose your GPS signal) and parking can be tricky. This house is like 2 houses stacked on top of eachother. Everything on the island is relatively close and under a 15 minute drive to get most places from the house. There is a volleyball net (with no ball), fire pit, outdoor seating, and a separate grassy area in the back with a toy trunk equipped with baseball gloves, balls, and other outdoor games for kids or lively adults. We did almost all cooking and eating at the house and the kitchens were able to accommodate us well. There were a couple of maintenance issues like a recces light coming out and the door atop the stairs coming off of the hinges. There were also frequent visits by neighborhood dogs (so many dogs on this island!) but overall the house was great. The ferry is definitely something to plan around and mixed with Seattle traffic you need to give yourself almost a full day to travel if you are flying. We took a return ferry to Anacortes at 12:35 and my in laws missed their 5pm flight out of SEATAC due to traffic, had to purchase new tickets AND the rental car company charged them $130 in gas because they didn't have time to fill up. Great place to vacation, would love to return but may chose a different house in which we could walk to the water. I think we will have to book more in advance for such places.

Beautiful surroundings and great value

  • 4 of 5

The upstairs kitchen had just been remodel and was very nice. We had a large group and there was plenty of hot water in the tanks. We very much enjoyed the yard, and the books and games provided. We loved seeing lots of bunnies and deer. There should probably be a sign that the horse pasture next door has an electric fence. Also, the part of our group who stayed in the basement who already had allergy problems really struggled down there. Also, the pillows really needed to be replaced but overall it was a great place.

This house is a great location for 2 families to share a space. The property is great for kids, woods, a field, pond and sandbox.

Check weather

  • 4 of 5

The house was good enough to sleep and cook for 12 people's but the play area wasn't dried out yet. And town was windy and had more showers. Only few restaurants was open for week days. April is not the season for this island.

Mid February

  • 5 of 5

Everything was as advertised for a quiet weekend on the island. Town is close by, but you're not in it. The outside amenities were alluring, but we didn't use them (February is not friendly to hanging around a campfire or horseshoes) but we look forward to visiting again when the weather gets warmer.
