Prestigious residence on the first floor of an Art Nouveau villa by the sea, with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mondello. The beach is just out of the house, just cross the street. The apartment retains the atmosphere of his time thanks to the decorations, the stained glass windows and furnishings that is largely the original one; a recent restoration ensures perfect efficiency and livability. The rooms are very spacious and bright, with large windows overlooking the sea, which is just a few meters in front of the villa. Two large terraces (one to the north, discovery, and the other to the south, covered), private outdoor parking. A few meters away, shops, bars, restaurants.
Ideal solution to enjoy the sea and the sun and visit the city and its surroundings. The apartment is breezy and cool in summer (air conditioning in two bedrooms), warmed themselves in winter.
The dining room is very large and includes a reading corner with two armchairs and a sofa, next to a large window from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea. The living room leads into the large terrace to the north, discovery, where you can soak up the sun on the sea front. Here, in addition to sun loungers and chairs, there is also a garden parasol that protects a table and chairs so you can eat outside in the shade. In continuity with the living room there is another room (which can be isolated with a large door) where there is a sofa bed (French) for one and a half and television. From here there is access to a second terrace, facing south, covered and protected from the sun, as well as from the ceiling, also by curtains of cloth. Even here there is a small garden table with chairs and a barbecue. The two bedrooms are with double bed, very spacious and each with two large windows facing the sea. Available an additional bed and a bed of canvas for young children. At the two bedrooms, two bathrooms, both with shower. The kitchen is very large, fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator with freezer, gas stove, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, robot, dishes). Are available, free of charge, bath towels (not beach) and sheets, tablecloths.
The apartment allows you to enjoy the sea and at the same time easily visit the city of Palermo. The center of Palermo is also reached by public transport, which stops a few meters from the villa. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Who has a car, can park your bicycle in the garden, in a space reserved. To visit the city, because of traffic and parking difficulties, it is advisable to move by public transport. Instead to visit the many tourist destinations in western Sicily need a car, taking the highway about 6 km from the villa. The garden is not the responsibility of the apartment. You may only use near the entrance and in the back of the villa, where there is parking cars and an outdoor shower to clean the salt and sand after swimming in the sea, before returning home. In summer, the beach in front of the house is open access to the party in the sea; is often crowded. The remaining part of the beach (the majority) is occupied by a beach where tourists can rent daily beach umbrellas and sunbeds enjoying a larger space and also related services (bar etc).
Silvio and his family were very welcoming and attentive during our stay. We loved the apartment it was a real treat to stay in such a grand building which was beautifully kept and well equipped. The apartment was very comfortable and had a homely feel to it with some wonderful art displayed by the the famous artist and member of the family which designed a built the villa. Two impressive balconies on opposite ends of the bulding, the first which looks over the sea (just cross the road and you are on the beach!) and the other which had a beautiful view of the mountains behind. If like cooking then the kitchen is really very well equipped. A good bakery is located next door and a beach front cafe infront the property which does a great coffee. We would definately recommend the villa to all and hope to return again some day.
We spent one week in this absolutely beautiful period villa with three adults and three children.
The villa, still owned by the heirs of its architect Giuliano Valdes, is in great condition and retains many period features. Staying there is a real treat for people who are interested in Sicilian Art Nouveau. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and even came out late on a Friday night to help us sort out a problem.
The kitchen is well equipped and our children loved having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach. We would warmly recommend staying there and our three children are already campaigning to go back!
In summer the beach is a beach where you can rent (by the day or week) sunbeds and umbrellas. The shoreline is accessed instead through free gates, one of which is located right in front of the Villa. Those who prefer to swim in the area of rock can reach (5 minutes by bus +15 walk the nature reserve of Capo Gallo. You pay about one euro for free access to the coast: penetrating, increases the tranquility and beauty of the places. At the same nature reserve can be accessed (recommended, but from a certain point on, it just goes on foot - the flat and easy) from the nearby village of Sferracavallo (Barcarello locations). Sferracavallo is known for its many restaurants specializing in seafood. In addition to the many places to visit in the city of Palermo and the Basilica of Monreale, consider a drive to Segesta (40 minutes drive) for its beautiful greek temple and its ancient theater. Also notable is the Zingaro nature reserve, which occupies the coast from Castellammare del Golfo to San Vito Lo Capo. you can follow it on Foot (excellent equipped paths) or admire it from the sea, renting a boat in the harbor of Castellammare.
those who want to go sailing and wind surfing, can turn a few meters from the Villa Yacht Club "Albaria".
For tourist visits to the city of Palermo, given the chaotic traffic and the difficulty of finding parking, it is preferable to use public transport; the bus stop is 100 meters from the villa; downstairs there is a taxi stand. If you wish to visit one of the famous street markets, do not go to the Vucciria (now little used), and prefer to Porta Carini (a few meters from the courthouse), preferably to visit during the morning, avoiding the afternoon.
A few meters from the house you will find all the necessary shops, newsagent, bank, pharmacy, medical summer, post office.
