Overview

About the property

Apartment of 130 square meters. Rooms with sea view and two terraces overlooking the Gulf

Prestigious residence on the first floor of a Liberty villa by the sea, with a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Mondello. The beach can be reached just outside the house, just cross the road. Sea water is transparent, turquoise color (usually). the depth of the sea grows slowly and you can swim without risks. The apartment (1st floor, no elevator) preserves the atmosphere of its time thanks to the decorations, the windows and the furniture that is largely the original one; a recent restoration guarantees perfect efficiency and liveability. The rooms are very large and bright, with large windows overlooking the sea, which is a few meters away, in front of the villa. Two large panoramic terraces (one to the north, discovery, the other to the south, covered), private outdoor parking. A few meters away, shops, bars, restaurants. The location is in a very central and frequented place so during high season there is some confusion.

Ideal solution to enjoy the sea and the sun and visit the city and its surroundings. The apartment is ventilated and cool in summer (air conditioning in two bedrooms), heated independently in winter.

The dining room is very large and also includes a reading corner with two armchairs and a sofa, near a large window where you can enjoy a splendid view of the sea. From the living room you enter the large terrace to the north, uncovered, where you can sunbathe in front of the sea. Here, in addition to sunbeds and armchairs, there is also a garden umbrella that protects a table and chairs so that you can have lunch outside in the shade. In continuity with the living room there is another room (insulated with a large door) in which there is a sofa bed (French) and a television and a square. From here there is access to a second terrace, facing south, covered and sheltered from the sun, as well as from the ceiling, also from cloth curtains. Here too there is a small garden table with chairs and a movable barbecue. The two bedrooms are with double bed, very large and each with two large windows overlooking the sea. Available an additional bed and a bed of linen for children at an early age. In correspondence of the two bedrooms, the two bathrooms, both with showers. The kitchen is very large, fully equipped (fridge with freezer, gas stove, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, robot, dishes). Bath towels (not beach towels) and sheets, table cloths are available, included in the price.

The apartment allows you to enjoy the sea and at the same time easily visit the city of Palermo. The center of Palermo can also be reached by public transport, which stops a few tens of meters from the villa. The route takes about 20 minutes. If you have a car, you can park it in the garden, in a reserved area. To visit the city, due to traffic and parking difficulties, it is advisable to use public transport. To visit the many tourist destinations of western Sicily, the car is necessary, taking the highway about 6 km from the villa. The garden does not belong to the apartment. It can only be used near the entrance and at the back of the villa, where there is a car park and an outdoor shower to clean itself from the salt and sand after the sea bath, before returning home. In summer, the beach in front of the house is open access to the part by the sea; it is often crowded. The remaining part of the beach (most) is occupied by a bathhouse where tourists can rent umbrellas and sunbeds daily enjoying a larger space and also services connected (bars etc). A few meters away a Nautical Club where, at a reasonable price, you can practice sailing, windsurfing, kiting.

Elegant Beach Front Apartment.

  • 5 of 5

Silvio and his family were very welcoming and attentive during our stay. We loved the apartment it was a real treat to stay in such a grand building which was beautifully kept and well equipped. The apartment was very comfortable and had a homely feel to it with some wonderful art displayed by the the famous artist and member of the family which designed a built the villa. Two impressive balconies on opposite ends of the bulding, the first which looks over the sea (just cross the road and you are on the beach!) and the other which had a beautiful view of the mountains behind. If like cooking then the kitchen is really very well equipped. A good bakery is located next door and a beach front cafe infront the property which does a great coffee. We would definately recommend the villa to all and hope to return again some day.

Beautiful Art Nouveau Villa

  • 5 of 5

We spent one week in this absolutely beautiful period villa with three adults and three children.

The villa, still owned by the heirs of its architect Giuliano Valdes, is in great condition and retains many period features. Staying there is a real treat for people who are interested in Sicilian Art Nouveau. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and even came out late on a Friday night to help us sort out a problem.

The kitchen is well equipped and our children loved having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach. We would warmly recommend staying there and our three children are already campaigning to go back!

Owner's Response: Thank you! I will be happy to host you again. To be precise, the villa was designed in 1926 by the Architect Ernesto Basile for Salvatore Gregorietti, painter and decorator Liberty and the grandfather of the current owners.

Car: recommended

In summer the beach is a beach where you can rent (by the day or week) sunbeds and umbrellas. The shoreline is accessed instead through free gates, one of which is located right in front of the Villa. Those who prefer to swim in the area of rock can reach (5 minutes by bus +15 walk the nature reserve of Capo Gallo. You pay about one euro for free access to the coast: penetrating, increases the tranquility and beauty of the places. At the same nature reserve can be accessed (recommended, but from a certain point on, it just goes on foot - the flat and easy) from the nearby village of Sferracavallo (Barcarello locations). Sferracavallo is known for its many restaurants specializing in seafood. In addition to the many places to visit in the city of Palermo and the Basilica of Monreale, consider a drive to Segesta (40 minutes drive) for its beautiful greek temple and its ancient theater. Also notable is the Zingaro nature reserve, which occupies the coast from Castellammare del Golfo to San Vito Lo Capo. you can follow it on Foot (excellent equipped paths) or admire it from the sea, renting a boat in the harbor of Castellammare.

those who want to go sailing and wind surfing, can turn a few meters from the Villa Yacht Club "Albaria".

For tourist visits to the city of Palermo, given the chaotic traffic and the difficulty of finding parking, it is preferable to use public transport; the bus stop is 100 meters from the villa; downstairs there is a taxi stand. If you wish to visit one of the famous street markets, do not go to the Vucciria (now little used), and prefer to Porta Carini (a few meters from the courthouse), preferably to visit during the morning, avoiding the afternoon.

A few meters from the house you will find all the necessary shops, newsagent, bank, pharmacy, medical summer, post office.
