About the property

Newly renovated apartment. Close to public transport but very tranquil.

Mountain Views Holiday Apartment is located in the beautiful town of matten, under 15 minutes walk (or a 3 minute bus ride" from Interlaken and the Interlaken train stations.

The apartment was renovated in June 2015 and is split on the 1st and 2nd floor and is beautifully designed. Fantastic location with a good sized supermarket, restaurants and bars all within 4 minutes walk . There is parking for 3 cars.

The first floor has a large balcony with spacious seating for 6 and breathtaking views, next to this is a stunning dining room with seating for 12, opposite the dining room is a fully equipped kitchen and next door to this is a full bathroom. There is sleeping for 5 on the 1st Floor.

"Pine Room" Double and Single bed.

"Bunk Bed Room" one adult sized bunk bed.

As you enter the 2nd Floor there is a brand new full bathroom, large social lounge area with reading seats, TV, DVD player and Playstation II. The large grey sofa can be made into a massive comfortable sofabed. There is sleeping for 7 on the 2nd Floor.

Ideal cottage for week's stay

We stayed at Mountain View for eight nights over Christmas 2017 with an extended family of ten10. The house is very suitable for such a group, warm, helpful owner, plenty of space, two bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen - dishwasher, microwave, pod coffee machine, jug. Two of the double bedrooms had a third bed and one bedroom has two adult-sized beds.The beds are all comfortable and there is plenty of hot water and very good showers - even with this sized crowd. There are good clothes washing facilities. It is a 20-minute walk to Interlaken Ost railway Station, all flat, and here is an ideal point to do sorties to many interesting places. We visited Lauterbrnnen, Murren, Gimmelwald and Shilthorn, and on another day, Wengen. We also went to Gridalwald, caught a bus to the beginner snow fields and had a marvellous day sledding down a slope with a "magic carpet" moving walkway to return you to the top of the slope again. On another day we went to Burn, and two of us went for the day to Geneva. In summary, the house met our needs very well indeed and we would highly recommend it, provided you are prepared to bunk in together if you have 10 people. It is excellent value for money and the owner could not have been more helpful.

Wonderful vacation rental

The house was exactly as advertised. There was lots of room for our party of 6. The upstairs living room made it possible to get some privacy when desired. We loved the outside patio. It has two open sides so you would get a great breeze most all of the time. The views of the surrounding mountains were outstanding and just as the pictures show, except more beautiful. The beds were all comfortable and the house was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pots ,pans, utensils and everything needed (we only ate breakfast at the house). The bathrooms and bedrooms were quite large and everything worked great. The house is not in the center of activity and it is in a quite neighborhood which requires some walking to get to restaurants and shopping but we enjoyed the walks. The bus stop was about 200-300 yards down the road. We were even offered a ride one day when we told the owners we were walking to the train station, who does nice! Bikes would be a great addition for greater access to see the town but they are not required. I would not hesitate to rent the house again and hope to do so if we get the opportunity in the future. You can't go wrong with this house!

Amazing Property

The seven people in my party (5 Adults 2 Children) had a wonderful time staying in the Mountain View Apartment.

Juliet was helpful in all sorts of ways from stocking the coffee to recommendations on where to do grocery shopping.

The location was an easy walk down town and the train station, or an easy jump on to the highway to do sightseeing further afield. (And a parking spot to keep a vehicle big enough to carry 7.)

We enjoyed day trips to Ballenberg, Jungfraujoch, Reichenbach Falls (for the Sherlock Holmes fans out there), A show dairy in Emmental, and even a Castle or 2.

We found the kitchen to have the pots and pans we needed, as well as plenty of plates, glasses and flatware.

We were in a group of 10 adults and 5 children. We had booked 2 apts of 4 bedroom each. Both the apts were very clean and rooms were spacious with all the amenities. Juliet, the owner was very kind and helpful. Our kids had a fun time with her dog. Both the apts quite walkable from Interlaken ost.station. location is fabulous. Worth recommending.

Great Stay

This property was perfect and spacious for our stay in Interlaken. Juliet was such a gracious hostess and was available for all our needs. The balcony was a bonus with beautiful view of the snow capped mountains. The house was about a 20 min walk from the train station which was perfect since our group are walkers and hikers. The kitchen was well equipped since we cooked our dinners in. Thank you Juliet, we all agreed your place and Interlaken was our favorite place on our trip!

I would now add that it is charming, cozy, and that we felt as if we were at home (better: as if we were at home but in a wondrous valley in the Alps).Can you Imagine the wonder of sensations lived by these inhabitants of the distant hills in the central region of Argentina?.

Everything: the room, furniture, equipment, heating, flatware, etc. contributes to make the visitor feel reluctant when the time comes to leave in pursue of the projected destinations.

Interlaken is a massive outdoor adventure base, similar to that of Queenstown in New Zealand.

Paragliding, Skydiving, Canyoning, Rafting, Ice Climbing, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Fly Fishing, Mountain Biking, Hang gliding, Bungy Jumping, Canyon Jumping are activities available during the summer.

Paragliding, Skydiving, Hiking, Hang gliding, Canyon Jumping, sledding, snowshoeing, skiing and snowboarding are activities available during the winter.

For the less adventurous and families there heaps of famous train journeys, boat rides on either Lake Thun or Lake Brienz and lots of day that include amazing playing parks. There are children friendly hiking routes, with bbq spots on the way.

The 1st of August is National Swiss Day. The day has continuous events, parades and is capped of with one off with a brilliant fireworks at 10pm followed by live bands.

Basically Interlaken has so much to do, I am still working my through the list. The safety, simple style of life and beauty of the place is why I feel lucky to live here. I truly cannot recommend it enough.
