We live in a quiet, safe and friendly neighbourhood of West-London (Chiswick). It is one of the most relaxed and family-friendly neighbourhoods of London where more and more Londoners decide to live as it is very green and has a feeling of countryside while still minutes away from the tourist centre of London.

The house is a 2' walk from Chiswick Park tube station (District line) and 10' walk from Turnham Green tube station (Piccadilly line). You can therefore easily access Central London (30' from Piccadilly Circus) as well as countryside destinations like Richmond Park (20' away) and Kew Gardens (10' away).

You have nice public parks around the corner, among which Acton Green Common and Ravenscourt Park with kids playgrounds and public tennis courts, as well as a paddling pool in the summer.

You have nice local coffee shops and restaurants as well as all the supermarket chains around the corner on Chiswick High Road or Turnham Green Terrace. You also have two of the finest restaurants in London but without the formality or the price tag you might expect (Le Vacherin and La Trompette).

You are a few bus stops from Westfield Shopping Centre, a very big indoor mall with cinemas, high street brands and luxury shops.

The house is on a road where you find easy parking. You have a fantastic view from the windows, overseeing the neighbours lovely gardens full of big trees.

We have been living in our house since September after full refurbishment works and enjoy our new neighbourhood and house every day. The house is bright and full of light, cosy and charming. We are decorating it step by step so you might find lovely additions when you come for a stay!

On the ground floor: when you enter the house to your right, drawing/sitting room with a sofa and a piano to relax after a busy day.

+ Kids cloakroom full of coats hooks and a separate coats wardrobe for adults coats.

+ Toilet cabinet.

+ Kitchen and dining room, including a cosy corner for lazy reading next to the ones cooking.

The kitchen has a big island where you can have breakfast.

There is a big oven, micro wave, boiler, 5 burners gas hob, dishwasher, all you need in terms of cookery etc to dine 10 people, including kids.

The dining table sits 10 people.

This wide and high ceiling room is full of light thanks to two fantastic lightwells and sliding doors which open all the way.

+ The garden is made of astroturf for you to enjoy all year round. There is a large terrace with dining table and steamer chairs. The garden is North West facing and enjoys sun until 4.00pm in the summer time.

On the raised first floor: bedroom 1 with 160cm double bed, built-in wardrobes, chest of drawers and en-suite shower room with sink and toilet.

On the first floor: master bedroom/bedroom 2 with a king size 200cm double bed and a chest of drawers, with en-suite office and additional wardrobes; with en-suite shower room with 2 sinks and toilet.

Raised second floor: kids bedroom 3: bunk bed and built-in wardrobes and desk.

Second floor: kids bedroom 4: one single bed, built-in wardrobes and desk as well as a babe cot - could be closed and reserved for private use depending on the configuration of your family.

+ kids bedroom 5: one single bed and a pull out bed; built-in wardrobes and desk

+ Kids bathroom with bath and shower, 1 sink and a toilet

Basement: bedroom 6: a very comfortable sofa bed which sleeps 2 (160cm) in the basement room which also serves as additional playroom with a big bespoke chalk board.

+ en-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet which also serves as utility room with washing machine.

The house has the wifi throughout.

The house has been entirely refurbished (end of works Sept 2016) and is in stunning condition throughout.

About Gaetane

We are Belgians. We moved to London in 2010. Two of our 4 kids were born here. Our kids attend local schools. I am working as university teacher and my husband as fund manager. We like London very much: its cultural and social life, its kids-friendly atmosphere. We also like w-e getaways in the countryside to visit castles and gardens.

Why Gaetane chose London

We moved to our neighbourhood after having lived 6 years in Hammersmith. We have many friends in Chiswick, people who, like us, are looking for better quality of life in London. We feel that Chiswick has a lot to offer: nice shops, nice restaurants, nice parks, trees everywhere and vicinity of main highways to get out of London easily. We cycle or walk everywhere (to restaurants, cinema, playgrounds, tennis courts, schools etc). We barely use our car.

We like our house very much as it is straightforward and charming at the same time (a typical so-called Dutch house) and full of light/bright. It is a very cosy and comfortable house, where you can have your own privacy as it is spread on many levels and the rooms are spacious.

The kitchen and its dining room is the place where we stand the most: full of light with lovely colours. We like our terrace and garden as well and the kids feel cosy in their rooms.

What makes this house unique

Quiet and safe neighbourhood just 30' away from Centre London by tube.

Recently refurbished to the highest standards with beautiful materials and fabrics.

A house where you are happy to come back at night.

Children friendly as we have 4 children ourselves from 3 to 9 years old.

The cleaning lady comes at the end of the stay, for a cost of 100 pounds. Should you stay more than 4 nights, the cleaning lady will come to have a good clean of the house during your stay, after 4 nights (for an additional cost of 40 pounds). She will also come after you left. The cleaning lady costs are not included and come on top of your rental. We can give you phone number of babe-sitters if you wish bb-sitting of children and babies.

Excellent location for our family summer vacation in London

The location is truly excellent. The tube station being a couple of minutes walk was great and provided easy access to both central London and to Heathrow Airport (we flew in from the US).

Having a large grocery store right next to the station was also very convenient.

The nearby park was very good with lots of play equipment that the children loved.

We didn't really need a car for most of our vacation, but when we decided to head out west for a day trip, there was a rental car company at the end of the street.

There were lots of great dining options on Chiswick High Road within 10 minutes walking distance.

The house itself was very nice and accommodated our group of 6 adults and 3 children. The owner made herself available throughout the stay.

Everything was as described (though we only had access to 4 out of 6 bedrooms - this was detailed in the contract).

We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend this location for a family looking for a large home in London.

Wonderful location and convenience to all amenities

The house was spacious, very comfortable beds with great terrace and garden.

Very good location and transport links; 2 minutes walk will get you to the nearest tube station which the District and Piccadilly line runs through which get you into Central London with ease. Not far from the tube station there is a big supermarket and if something is not sold there; Chiswick High street is just behind it. There is an Overground station approximately 5 to 10 minutes walk; should there be any issues with the District or Piccadilly line. A lesser mention if you want a day out and weather permitted Kew Garden is not far via the Overground. If you were to head outside of London by car you're not far from the nearest M4 junction.

The host is very nice and tried to accommodate all our needs and most importantly thank you for having accepted to host 8 adults!

Wonderful home in an excellent location!

The home was perfect for our group of 4 adults and 7 children. The easy access to the tube line and grocery store were ideal for our stay in London. We loved the modern conveniences of the home and the town of Chiswick was lovely.

Great Christmas time !

100m from the closest tube station (District Line) which takes you direct to the centre of London.

Big supermarket around the corner (Sainsbury) as well as loads of charming coffee shops, fine restaurants (including Le Vacherin (French bistro) and La Trompette (1 Michelin Star)), all the supermarkets chains (Waitrose, Marks and Spencer, Tesco Express), organic shops (As Nature always intended) and restaurant chains (Zizzi, Gourmet Burger, Bill's Burger, Pizza Express etc) on Chiswick High Street which is 200m away or on Turnham Green Terrace where you can catch the Piccadilly Line.

Westfield Shopping Centre with High Street brands and luxury shops (Hacket, Burbury etc) as well as a huge cinema a few stops away.

Famous concert halls (including Apollo Hammersmith), good theatre places (including The Bush and The Lyrics), nice parks with playgrounds, public tennis courts and paddling pool (Acton Green Common, Rocks Lane Multi Sports Centre and Ravenscourt Park) between 3' and 10' walk.

2' walk from Chiswick Park tube station (District Line) or 5' walk from Turnham Green tube station (Piccadilly Line) - therefore only 30' away from Piccadilly Circus and all main tourist attractions of Central London.

If you come by car, parking possible in front of our house. And you are minutes away from all the highways to drive to Hampton Court, to Kew Gardens, to Richmond Park, to Oxford and Cambridge and to all the National trust houses and gardens.
