The Brewery is a wonderful blend of the traditional and the contemporary in this Cotswold holiday cottage in the heart of Burford; one of the Cotswold’s finest market towns.
Burford is situated in north Oxfordshire, twenty miles west of Oxford, and is considered the southern gateway to the Cotswolds. A beautiful old Cotswold town, its High Street sloping from the high Wolds, where you have beautiful views over the open countryside, down to the willow fringed River Windrush in the pretty Windrush valley. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill.
The beautiful town of Burford on the river Windrush was the site of a fortified ford in Anglo-Saxon times. The town grew to be an important crossroads and very wealthy wool town and is today very popular with visitors.
The broad main street slopes gently down to the river and is lined with dignified old houses and ancient cottages and many shops all of which appear little changed since Tudor times as witnessed by the precarious angles the buildings have come to rest at.
There are wonderful little side streets to explore, old pubs, tea and antique shops aplenty. The 15th century parish church of St. John Baptist is magnificent and is another sign of byegone riches based on wool.
Burford is about 18 miles (29 km) west of Oxford, 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Cheltenham and only about 2 miles (3 km) from the Gloucestershire boundary.

I just wanted to pop you a note to thank you for all your help with our weekend at The Brewery. What an amazing place – the house is so so beautiful and even more beautiful that the photos on the site let on, which we didn’t think possible. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend, so thank you again.
This is one of the most beautiful renovations I have seen in an older property--the owners perfectly blended modern amenities while maintaining the original charm of the cottage. Burford is a beautiful town with excellent pubs and you're right around the corner from all of them! Our family greatly enjoyed using Burford as a base to explore the surrounding area and I hope to make it back one day!
We surprised our father with a stay at The Brewery for his 70th Birthday. His initial thought was that he was in a hotel lobby as the style and furnishings are of such quality. Our ages spanned 6 years to 70 and we each loved being here together and the 6 year old said he did not want to leave - just what the adults were all thinking! We loved the space the property offered (photos are deceiving..its much bigger). We enjoyed being able to visit the independent shops on the high street just around the corner and explore the wider area but come home to a wood burner, cosy sofas, warm lighting and luxury...We hope to return to make more special memories!!
