Italian design and comfort at its best, 2 bedrooms, living room and superkitchen
- English, French, Spanish, Italian
I am an Italian man that has spent most of its life in London. I got there when I got accepted at the London School of Economics a million years ago and did my university degree there. I am passionate about London, which I love dearly and to which I owe everything: a bunch of fantastic friends, unforgettable experiences, a few romances (but it was only on a street in Naples that I found true love), and even my current career in the IT industry.
Filippo purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Filippo chose London Borough of Lambeth
I have always believed that to survive in London (or should I say to survive London), every 7 years a person needs to get the hell out, for at least a couple of years. For this reason I now find myself in Madrid, which is a great place! But at some point I will go back to the mother-ship. In the meantime my flat is for you to enjoy. I have no doubt that you will.
What makes this Apartment unique
I did not want to believe those that said that I was crazy putting the best furniture in the market in a flat that I was going to rent out. I travel a lot for work and use HomeAway myself. When I rent an apartment I want it to be my home away from home. I don't want cheap Ikea furniture around me. I pay, I want the best. You pay, I give you the best. The best bed linens, the softest duvets. Even a mattress topper! At the same time I expect my guests to show respect for the property and everything that I have put in there. This is your home in London, please treat it as if it was your own! I am not a pet owner, but I love pets. If you have an extremely well behaved one, which won't chew on a £4000-worth sofa, we can talk about your pet staying at home. But expect a higher cleaning fee at the end of your stay: other guests will expect an immaculate flat.

We were actually very disappointed in the condo/apartment. It was not very clean, run down and the bathroom had a peculiar smell. I have been in real estate all my life and the smell is of mould. You can tell that the mould is a problem in the apartment as the white paint was covering the darker spots created by mould. My son and I have respiratory issues and we did not feel well while we were there. The blinds didn't work. There were holes in the wall where the curtains hung previously. The windows were new but did not shut properly. The front door was so old that all the noise from the street bellowed up the hallway. I don't like giving bad feedback but this condo/flat is misrepresented. On a positive note it was close to the tube which was convenient.
Great place and location
I spent a week with my parents and teenage son in this lovely and modern apartment. The location is great, almost next to a tube-station, a grocery store etc. The transport from Gatwick, through Clapham Junction and the local train-stop beside the Clapham Highstreet was easy and quite fast. Clapham area is very nice with lots of restaurants, pubs, park etc. We walked from apartment to Brixton Village once, which is a place worth visiting also, with lots of restaurants and interesting shops.
The apartment is light and clean with nice furniture. The kitchen area has everything one needs in order to make a breakfast or meal. Both bedrooms are very nice and beds are very comfortable with quality mattresses, pillows and bed linen.
I recommend this apartment and would like to stay there again, when visiting London again.
A Somewhat Disappointing Experience
Our family rented this flat for a week in June 2016.
The flat was not as clean as one would expect. Filippo asked the cleaning service to return. They did so the evening of our arrival. The cleaning service owners agreed that the cleaning was not up to their customary standards. They cleaned as best they could although indicated that the floor could not be cleaned at that time as they did not have the necessary supplies at hand. Filippo informed us three days into our rental that he had fired the cleaning service. That day, someone entered the flat without our knowledge. The beds were stripped of their sheets, the towels and coffeemaker was gone and the possessions of our children had been rummaged through. Filippo told us that he believed it was unauthorized entry by the cleaning service and that they were retrieving their sheets, towels and coffee maker. The sheets and towels were replaced that day although the coffeemaker was never replaced.
Filippo had assured us prior to our arrival that a hairdryer was in the flat although this was not present when we arrived. It was replaced later in the week of our rental.
Filippo was largely apologetic and even thanked us for being calm and understanding. On two separate occasions and, entirely unsolicited, Filippo stated he would refund half the cost of the rental as a goodwill gesture in view of the difficulties we encountered. However, no refund of any kind has been furnished.
We believe the foregoing to be an accurate review. In fact, we were torn whether to rate the stay as two or three stars, finally settling on three in order to offer Filippo the benefit of the doubt.
Fantastic Flat in London
We spent four nights in the flat in May, 2016 with myself, my daughter, and my sister. The flat was perfect. Someone met us at the flat when we arrived and gave us a tour and explanation of the apartment. All 3 beds were quite comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms were perfect. It is very close to the Tube station and quite easy to access all of London. I would highly recommend this flat. Much appreciated!
Great and cozy flat!
Great and cozy flat! It was warm, well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Great location in quiet neighborhood and just about a 5 min walk from tube station. We really enjoyed our stay!
Clapham is a great neighbourhood south of the river, bordering Vauxhall and Battersea to the North, Oval to the West, Brixton to the East and Balham to the South (that is if I got my bearings correct - don't count on it). Since I moved to London as a student 1997 I ended up living everywhere, until I finally bought a house there, and I can assure you that it is my favourite place in the city. Everything is at hand: 5 supermarkets within a 200m radius (the last to open, a Sainsbury's, is literally at the end of the street, 1 minute away, in front of the Tube exit), 2 large gyms (I go to Soho Gym, 4 mins away by foot, which is great, £12.5/daily, £32 weekly), more bars and restaurant than I ever bothered to count, the infamous Inferno disco club, and that great park that is the Common! Brixton, another 5 minutes walk, offers another fantastic multi-ethnic experience, with fresh food markets and plenty of shops. The very street that the house is on features two of the best pubs in the area: The Clapham North and the Landor. Another fantastic one is the Sun in Clapham Old Town. The main street is buzzing with life during the weekend with people hopping through the different bars and trying out the different restaurants. Needless to say, it is fantastically connected with the centre of town. Catch the Northern line an you could be in Charing Cross or at Bank in the City within 15 minutes net, or get the Victoria and you could be at Victoria station in 10 minutes or Oxford Street in 15. Two all night buses connect Clapham North with Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. City Airport and Gatwick are both 45 minutes away. Heathrow and Stansted (via Tottenham Hale+Victoria) are 1.15hr. The recently opened Overground connects Clapham High Street (2 mins away from house) to Clapham Junction, the West of London and the East.
