The Perfect Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family has been vacationing in the Pocono Mountains for years and wanted to experience Vermont for a change. We searched and immediately were drawn to Holly’s Cabin. The whole process was communicated with Holly via email. Our goal was to get into the cold with superior ski/snow conditions and that’s what we got. As we approached the house, we were amazed at how beautiful the surrounding area was once we passed through the village of Stowe. Our arrival was amazing; the house is visible from the road and is nestled behind large evergreen trees covered with snow. It was truly a great experience pulling up to the house for the first time. Snow covered the house and icicles hung off the front porch. Lights were on and the house was cozy warm inside. Once inside, we were completely amazed at how well maintained the house was. The fireplace was perfect for keeping warm and cozy. The next day, we ventured out onto the property. This is where we witnessed some of the most spectacular nature views I’ve ever experienced. The house was well equipped with sheets, towels and cooking essentials. The house has a very unique outside hot tub that completely took away the pains created during a challenging day at Stowe Mountain Ski Resort. At night the temperatures dropped down to -16 but the house was warm inside lead by the most efficiently working Fireplace I’ve ever experienced. We were sad to leave such a beautiful place after our 4 day stay but will be back again in the future. The entire stay, I didn’t think of work and didn’t use my cell, which I realize on my drive home. We found our perfect Stowe log cabin in the woods and would recommend it to anybody who wants to get away with family.

Perfect long weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The house is situated on a lovely quiet road about 10 mins from the center of Stowe. When we got to the home, the home was lit and pellet stove was on. The home itself is incredibly inviting and everything you would expect in a quaint cabin in the woods. We found our 3 nights here to be the perfect amount of time to relax and unwind. Home is conveniently close to restaurants in downtown Stowe as well as ski lovers looking to ski at Stowe Mountain Resort. Holly was available with any questions we had and Beverly, her caretaker, was even able to get us several bags of additional pellets when we ran out (due to the blistering cold that weekend). We definitely plan to come back in the future! The perfect getaway for a little R&R. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us Holly!

Quintessential Vermont Cabin stay over Christmas Holidays.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you drive up the long drive sequestering the cabin into the woods (and if you're lucky the driveway will have needed to be paved from all the snow), the Christmas lights start to blink and the outdoor holiday decorations begin to appear. The house is prepared for your visit, and you enter into the foyer where you can quickly see the vaulted ceiling over the great room with a large decorated and twinkling live Christmas tree and year-round wreaths waiting over the fireplace. There is a lovely pine-scented candle to light on the coffee table, little touches of red everywhere, tall red candle tapers waiting to be lit at the dining room table along with Christmas placemats. There are comforters slung and waiting over the furniture, ottomans to put your feet up, a pellet stove for extra warmth while you build a big fire in the fireplace, and all of a sudden the excitement of the arrival quiets, and you take a deep breath.... and a deep feeling of home settles in. Many other thoughtful touches are waiting to be discovered, like bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower, several kinds of pillows, lots of reading materials, DVD's and games/puzzles. If you can swing it, stay for a week to relax and soak it all in along with a soak in the comfortable hot tub. Holly was most pleasant to work with. We began our family holiday at this Americana cabin (near the charms and slopes of Stowe), and then continued to Quebec City to an urban, spare, contemporary condo in the old town and had the best of both worlds.

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our needs. A get away with all the amenities. The hot tub was lovely, the fireplace was just perfect, and the cabin is situated on the property in such a way that it does feel like you are miles away from the nearest house. The road up to the house can be a bit slippery in the snow, so be mindful, as you should be in any case driving in Vermont in the winter. The cabin is quite large, larger than we expected and fully stocked with everything you may need for a nice, comfortable stay. Very clean and cozy.

A wonderful hide-away in Vermont

  • 4 of 5

A well-located, off-the-beaten-path hide-away with all the amenities. Holly made the process easy from start to finish - easy communication and check-in and she was readily available if we needed to touch base during the stay. House is well-stocked with fun activities - puzzles, games, pool/ping pong table, hot tub. Great plot of land with tranquil water falling in the background at all times. We had a fire roaring the whole time we were there and there was plenty of wood provided to make that possible! Great, comfortable furniture for all your lounging needs.

Some great local attractions nearby (all a 10-15 min drive): Vermont Artisanal Coffee Roasters (a must for any coffee drinker), hiking trails, downtown Stowe (lots of restaurants and markets to stock up for your stay).

Only drawbacks:

- Kitchen could be better stocked (knives, pots/pans, utensil selection made cooking a bit trying... but with some creativity we managed several meals without too much trouble)

- Lots of creaking/noise from the log cabin - not so distracting, but we definitely noticed it! Just something we weren't used to. Was not noticeable at night, did not interrupt sleep at all.

- A lot of stuffed animals/dolls throughout the house... I imagine this would be great fun for families with younger kids, but felt a bit funky to us (30 years old-ish) - again, did not take away from stay!

Highly recommend this home! Thank you, Holly!
