Detached villa in a peaceful location overlooking the 11th fairway. (Sleeps 8)

Casa Colon is a detached Cortijo style villa with off-street parking, a heated private pool, Petanque pitch and large patio area with comfortable seating. The interior has recently been redecorated and the garden landscaped. For comfort we have installed the latest Panasonic reverse cycle airconditioning/heating units in the living area and each of the bedrooms; there is a wood burning stove in the lounge and mosquito nets to all opening windows. We are keen to make our guests as comfortable as possible, providing good beds, crisp bedlinen and fluffy towels.

The villa sleeps 8 in four double bedrooms. Upstairs is the master bedroom with its own balcony overlooking the golf course. It has a large double bed, built in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower, bidet, WC and two sinks. On the ground floor there are 3 bedrooms: one with an ensuite shower room, extra large bed and fitted wardrobes; the other two rooms have twin beds and share the family bathroom. Also on the ground floor is a cloakroom, comfortable living area and separate kitchen.

The main living area has large sliding doors opening on to the rear patio giving access to the pool, garden and petanque pitch. This is an open plan space with a dining table seating 8 people and with lounge sofas around the fireplace.

An outside dining area in the courtyard provides seating for 8 in comfortable chairs around a large wood table. Also in the courtyard there are two BBQ's and a paella ring with all the necessary equipment to make outdoor cooking fun.

Please note that the villa is not suitable for children under the age of 8 years of age.

Why Jayne Colson chose Costa de la Luz - Huelva

Having travelled around Spain for many years we were lured to this area for its light, warmth and true Spanish feel. Unlike the Mediterranean coast, this area is not overly hot and stuffy in the summer due to the breeze coming off the Atlantic. We are foodies and enjoy cooking local ingredients while on holiday. When renting villas in the past we found they were not sufficiently equipped in the kitchen, to the extent that finding a sharp knife was impossible. The local markets around us, particularly the new market in Huelva, have an amazing array of fresh fruit, veg, meat and especially fish. With ingredients like this on the

doorstep, its as much fun to stay in the villa as it is to go out.

What makes this villa unique

The villa ticked all the right boxes for us. Offering good sized accommodation, garden, privacy, a pool and good views. It is in a peaceful location, yet not far from the beach, bars and restaurants.

we spent two lovely weeks in Casa Colon Villa, every thing was perfect, nice house, nice garden, nice pool, very good beds, the kitchen is well equipped. You will find table tennis, bikes (2), even 3 golf bags set, bowl court ( pétanque), TV, music, a.s.o.... Warm welcome from Christina and Carlos. Thank you Jayne for the high quality of service. For sure, we'll come back to Casa Colon.

Costa de la Luz (the coast of light) is a beautiful corner of authentic Spain. From Nuevo Portil not only are there many villages and towns to explore but also miles of unspoilt beaches lined with dunes and pine trees.

Just five minutes drive from the villa is El Rompido, a pretty fishing village protected from the Atlantic by a long spit, La Flecha, making it a great place for watersports. Some of the best restaurants in the area are here offering authentic local cuisine which is simple, fresh and relatively inexpensive. To the east of El Rompido is the small town of Cartaya, thought to have been settled by Phoenicians. Cartaya has a vibrant centre with many restaurants and an indoor market.

Follow the coast to the east of Nuevo Portil and you come to the small fishing port of Punta Umbria. It was here in the 19th Century that a British holiday resort was established for the workers of the Rio Tinto mines. Twenty minutes to the north is the town of Huelva best known for its association with Christopher Colombus who sailed from nearby Palos de la Frontera. As well as historical sights, Huelva is a bustling shopping centre, has many restaurants and a fantastic fresh food market with parking above.

Further afield and on the edge of the Donana National Park is the lovely town of El Rocio, which, with its sand-covered streets and houses with verandas is like a set from a wild west film.

For wildlife lovers visit Donana National Park which covers about 50,000ha. It is a huge roadless area of sand dunes, salt flats and marshes and is very imortant to huge numbers of migratory birds and endangered mammals. Organised Safari rides are the best way to see the area.

A 20% deposit is required to secure a booking with the balance due 6 weeks before the arrival date.
If the reservation is cancelled more than 6 weeks prior to arrival, the deposit payment will be lost. If the cancellation is made after 6 weeks, there will be no refund unless the period can be re-booked.
