Why Paul: Owner / Property Manager chose École Militaire
This apartment is located in the most central district of Paris (near the Louvre, le Marais, Hotel de Ville, the Seine River, Palais Royal and Notre Dame!). When you are a Parisian, you love to live in this area as you can go everywhere in Paris by foot or by bike !
This is a great apartment for families. Highly recommend it and would come back again.
Great, walkable location. Supermarket next door. Easy check in. Zero complaints - only fond memories! Don’t hesitate to rent this one.
Bad service, no flexibility, draconian rules.
I booked this apartment for three nights. I wasn’t sure when We were going to check in so I said possibly 5 o’clock and I would firm up closer to the check in date. When I asked to check in at 3 o’clock I was told “there are no slots available” and 5 oclock was set in stone. And when we tried to park there there was a movie shoot, with flyers all over the streets for days alerting the neighborhood. We had to park half a mile away and drag all our things instead of getting a call from the owner to direct us to within a block of the apartment from a different direction. But this is not really owner managed but managed by an agency. So we had to walk around in what is really not the best neighborhood and kill a few hours. And when the check in person arrived he had no idea where anything was in the apartment. Sheets for the pull out couch? Didn’t know. an extra towel for a fifth person? He didn’t know. Fans because it was 85 degrees out? Didnt know. A subway map. Nope. So vrBO means by owner but this was very impersonal. They kept us waiting for two hours but God for bid you get stuck in traffic and are two hours late. That will cost you €xx as a late fee. Three hours late? €higher late fee And so on. We paid a large cleaning fee, which is fine but thank goodness I read the rulebook on the kitchen table. Because even though we paid such a fee we had to clean nearly everything ourselves. take out all the garbage, strip the beds, put out the towels, clean and put away all the dishes or....you guessed it, eur xx fee. One set of keys for five of us and if they are lost they will charge more than a car key FOB. Not a single condiment in the kitchen, which is strange because people always leave something behind just as we left some butter and jam in the fridge. Anyway, the apartment itself is nice but there was not much of a neighborhood and the Eiffel tower is a mile away but I felt like I was living in a police state. Contrast this with a lovely apartment we stayed at in Amboise with great personalized service and no added fee when we were stuck in horrendous traffic in Paris for three hours.
Thank you fro taking your time to submit a review, Ross. We are very sorry about the stress created surrounding your check in time and we have implemented some processes to ensure that this does not happen again. We are sorry if you found your checkin time to be a little late but we like to ensure that we have enough time to clean and prepare the flat for the next arriving guests. Should you require an earlier checkin, we suggest to reserve an extra night to guarantee a checkin at the hour which best suits you. Alternatively, your luggage can be stored in various locations around the city. We apologize that the level of cleanliness didn’t meet our own high standards. We hold a very high standard when it comes to cleanliness and we are sorry to hear that you did not find the cleaning satisfactory. The late check in fee of 30€ only applies to check-ins after 19h00 and is indicated on the listing. Sometimes we have check-ins as late as midnight and it's difficult for us to maintain staff willing to do this. Therefore, it's not uncommon to ask for a fee to compensate our staff for this inconvenience. Our goal is for you to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay in our apartment, not a stressful or worrisome one. We apologize if this was not entirely the case for you and we would be grateful to be given a second chance to host you in the future. You will, of course, benefit from a returning guest discount. If you wish to discuss more, please do not hesitate to send us an email. We wish you all the best.
Nice apartment in lovely neighborhood
We were in Paris for Roland Garros so chose this apartment because of its very positive reviews & proximity to the Metro. The apartment is exactly as depicted in the photos; very clean and spacious, with comfortable beds. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that we completely lost hot water one day of our stay which was definitely an inconvenience, although the owner replied to me right away and the problem was fixed the next day. Additionally, for 4 adults, there should be more towels and the quality definitely should be improved. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!
We are glad to know you enjoyed a nice weekend in Paris in our apartment. We hope you will be back to visit again soon and can stay a little longer next time. Please be in touch so we may provide you with a special returning-guest discount.
This was a great, central place for our stay in Paris. It’s near two Metro stops so it makes getting places very easy. There is a small grocery store right across the street that enabled us to pick up some items for breakfast. The flat was clean and spacious and a perfect fit for our family of 5 (three grown daughters). The sleeper sofa in the living room was the most comfortable one that we’ve ever experienced. Communication with the management was clear and easy.
We figured out the first evening that the hot water tank is small. It was only good for 1 1/2 showers. 😕 I’m sure that this may be typical for Paris but warning would have been nice. We figured it out and managed the rest of the stay. Also, the washing machine is great but the cycles are two hours long so plan ahead. They also ask you to only use it from 0800-2000 out of respect for the neighbors. I totally understand that but want people to know so they can plan ahead. We often left the flat by 0800 and didn’t return until we’ll after 2200 so no time for laundry. These aren’t meant to be negative comments at all but just information.
Overall, a great stay. Would definitely stay again.
Very nice apartment. Great location. Good neighborhood. Close to the Metro, Supermarket and Eiffel Tower. We recommend it!!
Thank you for the nice review, Sonia. We are glad you enjoyed the unbeatable location of the apartment and we hope you were able to see all the places you wanted to visit. We hope you'll be in touch for a future visit to Paris so you may benefit from our discounted rates for our returning guests. Cheers until next time!
A couple issues
We stayed in this apartment with our two adult children—there was plenty of room for one to sleep one of the bedrooms and the other on the sleeper sofa. Our issues arose with the showers—when we arrived there was hair on top of one of the drains and both shower drains were VERY slow (an easily fixable problem), in fact in one of them we had to take a very fast shower so the water wouldn’t spill over to the bathroom floor. The other issue was the hot water—we came home from a very long day of sightseeing and had not one drop of hot water! We thought we had figured out that we might have done something when we thought we were turning off the towel warmer (it was very hot in the apartment)—the next morning we did have hot water, but again that night it was cold. It would have been nice to know if that was a normal thing or if we indeed did do something! We did contact the hosts the first night (didn’t get in touch with them as it was very late). Again—would be nice to have an emergency number or after hours number to call. The location of this apartment was good—close to evening stroll on the Champ du Mars/Eiffel tower. There is a nice grocery store across the street and restaurants and bakeries nearby.
Dear Lauri, thank you for leaving a review. While we are happy that you seemed to have enjoyed the majority of your stay and many aspects of this rental (such as the location), we are sorry to hear that you experienced some troubles with the shower and hot water. Firstly, there were instructions included in the guidebook on how to reset the boiler if required (this may happen if too many long showers are taken in a short period of time, a common issue in the city). Secondly, regarding the blocked drains, had this been signaled to us, we would have been happy to address these issues by sending in our cleaning staff to ensure a more comfortable stay for you and your family. However, we understand that you might have missed the contact numbers sent to you in your confirmation email. We provide several contact numbers for our guests so you may always reach someone at any hour of the day. We hope that these minor setbacks have not marred your overall experience and your impression of us. Please know that we are more than happy to help our guests' and ensure customer satisfaction. We look forward to hosting you again if ever you might find yourself coming to Paris again. Best wishes!
