About the property

'Camuzat' is in a wing of an old farmhouse renovated to a high standard, but retaining original features. It is located in rolling countryside with distant vistas and surrounded by vineyards and orchards . Kitchen and bathroom are new and well equipped and the sitting area is comfortable and attractive with antiques and original artwork. There is a large pool with loungers, hammocks and outside dining facilities. There is a private patio with BBQ, a covered dining area and a large deck leading off both bedrooms which overlooks the fields of the Osse valley and is a great place to watch the setting sun. The property is surrounded by vinyards who welcome visitors for free tasting. It is also in the heart of Armagnac country whose many local producers also welcome passers by. This is a unspoilt area of rural France with beautiful undulating countryside and numerous medieval villages. Three small historical towns with all facilities are 10-15 mins away from the farmhouse-- each with it's outdoor market. Fetes and concerts take place in the surrounding villages all through the Summer. There are a number of Michelin listed restaurants within 1/2 hr. from the house varying from charming bistros to special occasion dining.

The area is ideal for walking with many trails clearly marked. Large scale maps available from hosts. Horse riding and recreation parks for children also availabe nearby.

About Robin brumwell

Robin and Sue Brumwell are a retired english couple living the dream amid the peace and beauty of this unsploilt area of rural France We are into books, music, movies and the performing arts--as well as pets, country walks, gourmet cuisine, good wine, gardening and socializing generally.

We regard ourselves as outgoing and socially minded --and are happy to interact with guests with advise on the area and help in any matter of local knowledge --normally over a relaxed glass of wine. We are happy to introduce visitors to the vinyards and Armagnac producers which abound in this wonderful area. We do however, take a balanced approach --between being helpful and sociable without being intrusive-- and respecting guests' desire for privacy and space--as they wish.

Robin brumwell purchased this farmhouse in 2004

Why Robin brumwell chose Moncrabeau

We stumbled across this delightful area of France quite by chance and immediately fell in love with it. The green rolling hills, and lack of commercial development reminded us very much of our beloved Cotswolds where we both lived when we were growing up as kids. The difference now is that this area has remained unspoiled-- while the old stone villages of Gloucestershire have become more gentrified, and have lost their persona of unselfconscious beauty typical of the Cotswold working commiunities of 50-60 years ago.

So this takes us back our free and joyful childhood.--which is a perfect state of mind for a contented retirement. We were able to buy this old farmhouse and renovate to our tastes without altering its natural antique charm. It is ideal for visitors who arrive as holiday makers and often leave as friends.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The benefits here are not unique --although it is becoming harder and harder to find genuine unspoiled parts of the world which possess the advantages of modern civilization--but retain virtually all of their natural beauty and friendly sense of community. At Camuzat you feel in the heart of the country --but are only a few minutes from 3 medieval market towns with cobbled streets, ancient buildings, squares and cloisters--but offering all services. Furthermore, the annual Summer fetes and festivals are all authentic rural affairs with multigeneration attendance from the surrounding villages, --with dancing, open air dining, market stalls, music, and a warm sense of country charm and enjoyment.

Camuzat is a gem of a place in southwest France set among rolling fields of sunflowers and vines. Sue & Robin, the English owners, could not be more helpful or friendly and the accommodation is immaculately presented, spacious, tastefully decorated and very well maintained. The facilities offered, inside and out, are comprehensive including a fabulous large 12m swimming pool, hammocks in the shade and a lovely gazebo to have a quiet end-of-the day relaxing drink. The accommodation has a lovely covered outdoor eating area for BBQs. The location and property would be excellent for anyone seeking a quiet completely chilled-out holiday, happy to be self-contained. However, it would also suit families with small children having the choice of days out or sitting by the pool, and there is English freeview TV and a DVD as backup. There are plenty of things to do locally from exploring markets, wine and Armagnac tasting, walks, golf, bicycling - the list goes on. Robin's comprehensive critical review of many of the local restaurant, cafes and bars is both instructive and highly amusing. Sue & Robin are only too pleased to offer advice and or help with plotting a day's activities. A wonderful location with everything you could wish for to have a relaxing holiday.
