Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Mariposa - Trabucco Gardens

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Conveniently located off Highway 49 in California's Gold Country, on a historic parcel known as Trabucco Gardens.

During the Gold Rush days, Trabucco Gardens was a parcel of land cultivated as a vegetable garden, while Forty-Niners discovered gold in the area. The historic rock walls on property mark the perimeter where the garden once grew.

The joy of discovery continues here today. Now you can discover the vast riches our universe has to offer. Trabucco Gardens, located on 17 private acres, provides you with a grand opportunity to stargaze in privacy using high-end, easy-to-use instruments. The robotic GO-TO telescopes are provided during your stay, and are included in the rental cost. This open, rural stretch of Highway 49, which is considered 'above the fog and below the snow', provides you with many clear night opportunities, even in winter.

The Trabucco Gardens House, newly constructed in 2007, is well appointed and available year round. Mariposa, the county seat, which is 10 miles south, has many essential services, along with many wonderful dining, shopping, and historic sight-seeing experiences. Yosemite National Park's West entrance is located about 45 minutes away up Highway 140 from Mariposa.

We provide housekeeping service (not daily maid service), before and after your stay. Courtesy towels, coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, and guest soap are provided to welcome you on the day you arrive. Personal key code access provides you with convenience and security. Along with a fold-away sofa bed in the living room, a queen-sized inflatable Aero-Bed is provided for extra sleeping accommodations.

Because of the rural nature of the area, there is abundant opportunity for wildlife sightings, such as deer, wild turkey, coyote, bobcat, birds of prey, and perhaps an occasional bear. Seasonal creeks at the North and South ends of the property flow during winter and spring. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule during your stay for stargazing too.

Using the telescopes, beautiful views of the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Cluster, and many other deep sky objects are yours to behold. The telescopes offer a TOUR mode, which takes you to the best and brightest objects in the sky during your stay. Stargazing doesn't get any easier than this.

What on EARTH are you waiting for? Go mining in the INFINITE FRONTIER above! An inspiring adventure of discovery for the young and the young-at-heart is here at Trabucco Gardens.

Pleasantly surprised at how prepared for for our arrival. Other rental properties fell short of our experience at this property. Very enjoyable.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This place is amazing! Exactly as described. It is small, but not cramped, and about as close to Yosemite as you can expect to stay without staying in the park. We had 4 adults and a 4 month old and found it to be the perfect size. The land the home is on is beautiful, open, and remote enough to feel very private (while still being close enough to get into Mariposa as needed).w We unfortunately were unable to use the observatories, as our baby was always asleep once it got dark and we didn't want to leave her, but the instructions for using them were clear and concise. Overall I am so glad we found this place!!! Great home-based for our Yosemite trip!

An Amazing Place to Get Away From City Life

  • 5 of 5

I booked Trabucco Gardens because I fell in love with the photos and the idea of getting away from city life for a few days with my family. I couldn't have been more impressed with the house, the landscape, or the owner. The house was exactly what we expected from the photos and we knew right where to find everything we needed thanks to the incredibly detailed notes that we had received from the owner, Mike, prior to our stay. The landscape was picturesque; great for photos with plenty of room to explore. And Mike was fabulous! I appreciate his attention to detail in the notes he provided prior to our stay as well as having a VERY well appointed house. There wasn't a single thing that he hadn't thought of. We look forward to staying again soon!

A Peaceful Retreat

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent about 3 weeks here while I wrapped up the research on my Yosemite book. Two things attracted us to the cabin – the privacy (it’s the only cabin on 17 acres) and the observatory.

We were pleased with the privacy, but also discovered that another rental cabin is being constructed next door. I’m glad it wasn’t ready for occupancy during our visit, as it wouldn’t be the same experience with neighbors. I like the idea of having the whole place to ourselves. If this is important to you, do check on the status of the second cabin. I will also add that there is also a smaller cabin on the property but there’s a grove of trees between it and the rental, and the people who were there were real quiet.

My husband (a professional photographer) loved the telescopes and the observatory. Mike sent us detailed information on them well before our visit, so my husband was able to get the proper lens adapters for his camera. Although he reported that they weren’t exactly beginner telescopes, there was plenty of reference material in the house (and a great book, which he subsequently bought on Amazon) and after reading up on the subject he was able to get everything to work. He really enjoyed the experience.

As for the house, it worked very well for the two of us, and the upstairs bed was very comfy. We BBQ’d a few times and even ate out at the picnic table. We did bring our own camp chairs for stargazing, and I’m glad we did. If I had one complaint it would be the lack of counter space in the kitchen, as we prepared full meals there for the duration of our stay.

All in all, we had a very pleasant stay.

A wonderful place to stay, the cabin has everything needed for a welcoming stay.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the cabin, everything has been well prepared to ensure a nice stay. We really liked the way all instructions are well unscripted on very equipment for a good use. We are surprised by everything we found in the cabin, some in the finest details. You won't regret your stay. As for us we are already planing our next stay in this lovely place.
