HOME WITH PRIVATE POOL AND HOT TUB -
We believe that our Sunset Home is one of the best beach vacation rental homes in Fenwick island. Our architect designed and we built the home in 2006 to comfortably accommodate multiple families and this beach home has the amenities, beds, showers, furniture, kitchen and open space to provide the essentials that a large number of guests need to have for a wonderful vacation.
Capture the Best of Both the Ocean and the Bay,
in this magnificently appointed Fenwick Island, Delaware, luxury, beach vacation rental home. Watch sunsets from this luxurious, bay front, Fenwick Island beach vacation rental home, only an 8 minute walk to the ocean! The Sunset beach home was designed to support large groups - it sleeps multiple families and the kitchen/dining and living area was designed for large gatherings and to maximize the awesome water views and create many conversation spots.
The Quiet, UN-Crowded Beach of Fenwick Island-
The Fenwick beach is amazingly less crowded and quiet compared to the beaches in Ocean City and Bethany Beach. Typically Fenwick's beach has up to 70% less people on it compared to Bethany and Ocean City. (See how UN-crowded Fenwick's beach is in comparison to Bethany's in the contrasting photos on this site, taken on the same day and time, July 4, 2015). Fenwick is called the Quiet Resort.
Your Group Will Surely Have Fun When They Stay in this Rental Home-
The Sunset home has a private pool and hot tub overlooking the bay. You can swim all day in the ocean and return to the heated pool (extra fee for heat) for a dip before dinner. You will be equipped for adventure travel with 4 paddle boards (arrives for the 2016 season), 6 bikes, 3 kayaks (one a double), and 1 canoe. You can launch the paddle boards, canoe and kayaks from our private dock, from which you can also catch crabs and skip rocks across the water. Additionally, the home has a 44 in plasma TV, 4 additional TVs/DVD players and WIFI. Within easy walking distance are many restaurants (one a James Beard award winner), coffee shops, clothing and book shops, 3 mini golf courses, water slide and a go cart track.
Use our bikes to explore the "island" and/or to go to Kohr's for a delicious custard cone, pick up the morning paper, bagels and/or donuts, or just enjoy being mobile. Go to our Resort Pointe site blog for our reviews of restaurants and recommended attractions and specials.
The town hall (3 blocks away) has a almost brand new playground for children, a basketball half-court, and a shuffle board court and a picnic area. There are two local kayak touring companies that specialize in surf and Eco adventures. Plus, an large amusement park is just a few miles away as well as two boardwalks, and the Freeman Stage entertainment venue (also reviewed in our resort pointe blog). And for the off season, we have a see-through gas fireplace, cozy sofa blankets and tear-jerking old DVD movies.
Accommodating Your Large Group-
The Sunset house comfortably sleeps multiple families with 3 king master suites; 1 contains a soaking tub & a large walk-in shower with 2 shower heads. Another bedroom includes two queens; 1 bedroom has 2 sets of bunks; the den offers 1 queen bed; and the living room has a sleeper-sofa. Adjacent to the pool, the den also features a wet bar.
Designed for large groups, the Chef's Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals for large groups. It has 2 sinks and 2 refrigerators, another refrigerator downstairs, and on the deck are 2 BBQ s. You can eat in the dining room, the kitchen bar, and/or, the front deck with a panoramic view of the water. To support your evening al fresco dinner party on the deck, we have plenty of seating and will "order you up" a spectacular sunset.
In the photo library on this site we have posted floor plans that show the locations and bed sizes.
There is off-street parking for 6 cars at the home. And we supply parking passes for beach dune parking as well.
Going to the Beach and Other Details-
The Fenwick guarded beach is about an 8 minute walk from the house. To transport your beach "stuff" to the beach we supply 2 Wonder Wheel Beach Caddies. In case you have more beach "stuff" than you can carry, we provide 2 all-day dune permits allowing you carry your things in your car and park it in the dune parking lot, 40 feet from beach. The Fenwick beach was replenished in the Fall of 2014 so they are extremely wide unlike Bethany's beach.
More Fun -
Two companies in the Fenwick area, Delmarva Sport Adventures and Coastal Kayak, offer Eco kayak tours by as well as lessons to surf the waves in a kayak. There are great walking trails and our favorite in Bethany is the Prickly Pear walk off of Fred Hudson Rd in Bethany.
The Fun Corner in Fenwick, a ten minute walk, on the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 54, has many fun activities and food for adults and kids. The Discovery Sea Museum in Fenwick, a 5 minute walk from the home, has recovered treasure and artifacts from ship wrecks. You can take a short walk on the pristine beach for swimming and surf fishing, and wander for miles in the adjacent DE Seashore Park. Plus, there are bike paths, three boardwalks, and superb dining in 2 states. Water sports available are crabbing, clamming, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, sport fishing, beach combing, surfing, shelling, windsurfing. There is a boat rental shop right across from bay from the home. Enjoy the tennis courts at 141st Street in Ocean City. Keep in shape while on vacation – work out at the two gyms that are within a 10 minute car ride. And, there are nature trails, bird sanctuaries and the Seaside Nature Center can all be found at Cape Henlopen State Park just outside of Lewes.
You can take a Day Trip from Fenwick to Rehoboth Beach, about a half hour drive: The town is much larger than Fenwick or Bethany and has many shopping and dining options. You can also go antiquing. There is also a fabulous sales tax free outlet shopping at 140 Outlet stores outside Rehoboth. You can visit Lewes, smaller than Rehoboth but a good day trip...very quaint.
There are numerous golf courses - some are Bear Trap Dunes Ocean View Salt Pond Bethany Beach Cripple Creek Golf And CC Dagsboro, Kings Creek, CC Rehoboth Beach, Old Landing Golf Course Rehoboth Beach, Rehoboth CC. You can find more at Golf link.
Mary is my rental manager for the last 10 years, and I, Ralph Picard, am the owner. You will be working primarily with Mary.
Growing up in Ohio, I first saw the ocean when in college. I immediately loved the energy and excitement that the ocean provided. I've discovered that here is tranquility in the air that is very easy to take in. That is one of the reasons all three of our homes have pools.
I have built, rented and sold 9 beach vacation rental homes since 1985, my first one an ocean front home in Bethany Beach. Before building I talked to many realtors and asked what it takes to comfortably support large groups of family and or friends.
Here are the key features of the homes that comfortably support large groups in our three best in class vacation homes:
• Cooking for the Gang: The kitchens are fully equipped chef's kitchens and spacious. There are 2 BBQs, 2 sinks and 3 refrigerators.
• A Room Of Their Own: Plenty of sleeping spots and bathrooms. Yes, the homes can hold three families and have 3 or 4 Masters.
• The Plus of Privacy: These vacation rental homes have dens and many porches away from the great room/kitchen/dining room for different ages and activities to hang.
• Plenty Of Activities: The rental houses have private heated swimming pools, hot tubs (relax at night in star light with a beer) and many TVs and Wi-Fi.
• Room to Spare: The vacation homes are 3600 to 4200 square feet.
• Off to the beach: There are beach caddies to haul your beach "stuff." And two of the homes are only a one-minute walk to the beach.
• Plenty Of Outdoor Activity: In a 10 minute walk or less there over 25 restaurants, and coffee shops, hoagie shops, a multiplex movie theater, bike rentals, 3 mini golf courses, a water slide, a go cart track, and many shops. And in a 10 minute drive there are another 30 restaurants, many shops, and a boardwalk and amusement park.
Mary McDevitt purchased this house in 2005
Private Heated Pool, large hot tub, 6 bikes, paddle boards, Kayaks, a canoe - and a private dock--
From our private dock you can launch your flotilla and travel across the bay and have lunch at one of 4 restaurants-only 15 minutes paddling away. From the pool and hot tub you have an unfettered view of the bay.
Maybe most of all the home is just 300 yds to the ocean, and our beach is amazingly uncrowded unlike most resort beaches. (please see the photos in the slide show of Bethany Beach vs Fenwick beaches on the busiest day of 2015.)
It has WIFI, many restaurants, coffee shops, go cart track, water slide, movie theater, Fishers popcorn, and many restaurants and stores within walking distance. You can take guided local tours in kayaks, and there great biking in the area. Plus there is an amusement park a few miles away as well as two boardwalks. Private pool, hot tub, 5 bikes, WIFI, only close to the beach, many restaurants, coffee shops, stores within walking distance, local tours in kayaks, and great biking in the area. And an amusement park a few miles away as well as two boardwalks.
I love the access to the pool and hot tub from the three different spots and the wet bar just inside the home from the pool. Also the open living area on the top floor supports great conversations and connecting and playing as a family or group of friends. The pool deck and the large bay view front deck support all of your gang hanging out and eating there while you look out over the bay.
You can launch the 4 paddle boards, 3 kayaks, and 1 canoe into the bay quickly and easily from our private dock. In 20 minutes you can kayak and canoe (and if you are good also paddle board) to lunch across the bay. The bay is very shallow often only 2 feet deep.
Also the open living area on the top floor supports great conversations and connecting and playing as a family or group of friends. One of my favorite spots is BBQ'ing on the deck off of the kitchen and watching sunsets.
An important design feature of the home is that the floor layout offers multiple areas for guests to gather. The kids can be on the pool deck and pool with raised voices, the grandparents on the second story rear deck reading, one group on the front deck playing cards, another in the great room watching a game, two folks sitting in the computer nook researching dinner plans, a couple sitting on the dock dangling their toes in the bay, and six others on the side porch talking about the meaning of life.
Last, what is rare in most beach resort towns is that Fenwick Island is named the Quiet Resort because it is. No raucous behavior on the beach, or the town. There is plenty to do, but as the photos on this site show the beach is totally not crowded. Parking restrictions keep the number of people on the beach to a small number.
Our accommodations at the Sunset House were perfect for our large family. Privacy in all of the sleeping areas, plus a large open area for socializing. We asked and paid for the pool to be heated and the water temperature was perfect! The hot tub was spotless and the dock for crabbing and fishing offered activities that will be remembered forever. Although the weather did not cooperate, we had our best vacation ever.
What a fabulous rental! The photos did not do this rental justice. After seeing the first sunset, we changed our schedule so we could eat dinner each night while watching the beautiful sunset.
The home was clean and as described. Plenty of room for our family and friends to spread out. We have rented homes previously where we felt like we are stuck in a can of sardines. Not here! A couple of the older adults are not big beach fans, so the pool was a comfortable and welcoming alternative. The kids loved being able to jump in the pool after the beach.
It was our first time trying paddleboards, what a fun time (after a few falls). The house is a short walk to the beach (about 10 minutes with 6 kids), but the paddleboards, kayaks, and pool offered a great alternative for staying home or on the slow moving days.
The large kitchen made cooking for 10 of us a breeze. There were plenty of beds/baths to accommodate our family and I don't think we heard the kids fight over the bathroom once, so that was a vacation in itself.
We look forward to coming back again next year!
I cannot say enough about this house, it had it all. The house was close to the beach, but the sunsets in the evening were spectacular. The house had plenty of room for everyone to either be together or spend time by yourself. We loved the fact that the pool is heated. The restaurants ans shopping are also great. We love Bethany Blues restaurant, best ribs around. We have been coming back year after year and always have a wonderful time. looking forward to next year.
We rented this house with 2 other families and their children. This house was great for that .The house had plenty of room for everyone. The beach was so close and beautiful. The kids had a blast. They love the pool, hot tub and the paddle boats after the beach. The deck was great for watching the evening sunset with a glass of wine. We loved just relaxing and enjoying everything the house offered. We also enjoyed the local dining, shops and boardwalk. The outlet shopping was great too. Looking forward to another week at the beach.
This was a great house to spend time with family, The beach and ocean are right there. Nothing better than that. The house speaks for itself , it has everything and more, The hated pool and hot tub are great. The kitchen is spacious for preparing those family meals and just spending time with the family. We stayed the year before in the red house which is just as great. Also found Mary great to work and telling us about the area as well. the restaurants and tax free shopping are wonderful. We will definitely be back
This house was perfect for our long overdue Cousin Reunion. The house inside and out was perfect. The sunsets were breathtaking. We are planning on making this a yearly event . The company was great but everything about this house made for such an enjoyable weekend spending time with Family
