Set in a quiet enclosed complex right near the centre of Santa Luzia

Apartment Canela is a newly furnished and decorated apartment set within a small private complex.

The apartment offers spacious, open plan accommodation with wonderful traditional tiled floors but with all modern features and appliances. A comfortable sofa offers relaxing seating. The flat screen television offers European channels and the apartment has wifi throughout. A lovely glad dining table and four chairs are situated near the large french windows that give access to the private terrace. A breakfast bar divides the galley style kitchen from the living space. The kitchen offers great facilities including a full size fridge freezer, 4 ring hob, full size oven, microwave, toaster and a kettle. You will find plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is also a dishwasher and washing machine. From the kitchen a door gives direct access to the terrace and onto the well kept gardens offering plenty of space and enjoyment. The bedrooms are laid out as a master bedroom with a large double bed, wardrobes, air conditioning, shutters over french style windows and bedside tables and lamps. the ensuite has a walk in shower, basin and toilet. The second bedroom is laid out as two comfortable single beds and also has air conditioning, shutters over french style windows, wardrobe space and bedside table again with reading lamps.

Apartment Canela has a wonderful outside space in the form of a shaded private terrace where you will find a table and chairs for dining and reading. The terrace also has the added exit of a traditional brick built bbq. Absolutely perfect for cooking that wonderful freshly caught fish you will find at the daily market.

The complex in which Apartment Canela sits is just a short walk from the sea front of Santa Luzia where you will find a fabulous selection of place to eat and drink. Also you can catch a boat to the beach here too. Also within a walk is the little train that will take you across to the famous Barril Island Beach. A particular favourite of mine. Apartment Canela is not only set within a secure complex of apartments it has the luxury of two swimming pools. A large outside pool, perfect for the summer and also a smaller indoor pool for those who still wish to have a swim in the cooler months. Also there is secure underground parking. So an all round great spot for a stay any time of the year.

Apartment Canela is perfect for the looking for some winter sun and we can offer some great prices for those times especially if you are looking to stay for a month or more anytime between September and April.

Apartamento muito confortável.

O apartamento apresentava péssimo nível de limpeza ( mal aspirado, cozinha mal limpa, Loica com gordura)

Um péssimo serviço prestado na entrega do apartamento que esperamos 1:30 tanto no dia da saída que simplesmente invadiram o apartamento com as pessoas lá dentro, sem qualquer satisfação, a mexer nas coisas .

Outra informação útil para quem paga pela cama de bebe, informo que não dão colchão, a justificação é que não é necessário colchao..

Não recomendo este apartamento pelo serviço prestado.

Owner's Response: I can not agree with the review given. The client was treated with respect and kindness but failed to read information regarding arrival and departure times. This information is given to the clients at least 3 times during the booking and holiday process. I think the comments regarding cleaning are unacceptable as all our apartments are cleaned to a very high standard. The travel cot did have a mattress and safety rules decree that travel cots should not have an extra mattress added for the safety of the baby. I am sorry the guest feels she did not have a good holiday. For anyone who reads this review I urge you to read the reviews for our other properties and you will be in no doubt about the excellent accommodation and services we offer.

Santa Luzia is a picturesque fishing village, idyllically situated close to Tavira and also the beautiful beaches of Ilha de Tavira. The otherwise sleepy harbour comes alive each morning when the renowned octopus catches are brought ashore and sold in the local market.

Tourists who miss this spectacle can also taste this local delicacy at one of the village’s restaurants, which overlook look the colourful fishing fleet.Santa Luzia is an interesting half day excursion from Tavira for tourists looking to experience a unique, traditional Portuguese way of life. The village is also situated on the Algarve Cycle Path (the Ecovia do Litoral) and can be easily included as part of a bike ride or short hike.The main attraction is the village itself. Santa Luzia is a traditional Portuguese fishing village, which remains authentic and untouched by the influences of tourism. The colourful fishing boats return early in the morning and this is the best time to visit the fish market, where the last night’s catch is displayed and sold.Tourists seeking some time on the beach can also visit the Praia da Terra Estreita, which is easily accessible by ferry. This beach is part of the Ilha de Tavira sandbar, which offers visitors an unspoilt, stunning shoreline. This beach is regarded by some as the best beach in the region and is always quiet, even at the height of the summer season.For those seeking some nature, the village is positioned on the edge of the Ria Formosa Natural Park; a series of protected mudflats and lagoons designed for migratory birdlife. In the summer there are boat tours around this area. However, an interesting free natural phenomenon can be witnessed at low tide when hundreds of crabs in the scramble mud flats.No visit to Santa Luzia is complete without sampling octopus (pronounced Polvo in Portuguese), a delicacy loved by the Portuguese. This dish is extremely difficult to cook but the village has mastered the fine art.Origin of Santa Luzia: The village was named ‘Saint Lucy’ following the recovery of a holy relic by a local fisherman, which had been lost out at sea during a storm.Tradition of octopus fishing: Look out for the clay pots lining the boats and docks of the village. These pots have been used traditionally in the fishing of octopus and fishermen still use this method today...clay pots are lowered onto the seabed and the unwitting octopus are tempted to swim in but are unable to escape.Santa Luzia is only 3km southwest of Tavira and can be reached easily along the Algarve Cycle Path, which is perfect for those wishing to explore at a leisurely pace. This route has been purpose-built, following the quiet R151 road, and is perfectly safe for those of all cycling abilities. Bikes can be hired from either Tavira or Santa Luzia.The route is also suitable for hikers and takes around 40 minutes to walk. More adventurous hikers can also extend the route and continue on to Praia do Barril beach (5 hours). From here it is easily possible to walk the length of the beach to Ilha de Tavira and catch the ferry back to TaviraSanta Luzia is situated behind the sandbar of Ilha de Tavira. Extending the length of the sandy island are some of the best beaches in the region. The beach closest to Santa Luzia is called Praia da Terra Estreita, which is accessible only by ferry from the harbour. The frequency of ferry services is seasonal (regular departures take place from May until mid-September) but there are also water taxis for those who miss departures or are visiting in low season. An adult single ferry ride is €1.50 and a return is €2.00.To the east of Praia da Terra Estreita is the Praia de Tavira; the most developed section of island, while to the west is the Barril beach and the Cemetery of Anchors. Both beaches can be reached on foot from Praia da Terra Estreita and takes around 30 minutes. Praia da Terra Estreita is always much quieter than Tavira or Barril but there are only basic facilities available. It is recommended to head to Praia da Terra Estreita in peak season to escape the crowds of beach goers.

The holiday price includes a mid stay linen change every 7 days for stays of 14 nights or more.
Bed linen, bath and hand towels along with beach/pool towels are provided within the holiday cost.

We operate a strict arrival and departure time limit especailly during the summer months. Arrival is after 1600 and departure is before 1000. For arrivals we are happy to meet you at the property after 1000 to drop baggage etc but then entry can not be gained until after 1600 to allow the cleaners to prepare the property to the exceptionally high standard that we at Mars Algarve pride ourselves upon. Departure is strictly before 1000 and failure to depart on time without prior arrangment will result in a financial charge.

Upon arrival you will be met by one of the very helpful Mars Algarve Team they will hand over the keys to your holiday home and take the time to show you the property and tell you about any local information and answer any questions you may have. The Mars Algarve team will then be on hand during your holiday for any issues that may arise.
Within the property you will find a blue folder stuffed full of information, our local contact details, local maps and plenty of restaurant recommends and much more.
