Penthouse loft with roof deck available in prime location.
Large, sunny condo available on Bond Street – steps from SoHo, the East Village and the Lower East Side . Across the street from 40 Bond, Ian Schrager’s latest architectural gem and residence, this open-plan apartment is perfect for indoor or outdoor entertaining, but also quiet and near all necessary services for comfortable living. This block was named block of the year by the online architecture blog Curbed in 2007 because of all the interesting architectural developments.
The apartment is very light, with 13-foot ceilings and a wall of windows in the living room. The private roof deck (450 sq feet), with lounge chairs and table for dining, has views of the neighborhood from all directions. The living room’s wood-burning fireplace is fully functional. The apartment was last owned by an interior designer, Adam Dolle, and was featured on the cover of several magazines, as well as featured in articles in The New York Times and New York Observer (not sure if I can post the links so google it).
The building is a walkup with four flights of stairs. You have the whole floor to yourself. It is a two-bedroom, and can sleep 3.
The Street and Neighborhood:
Bond Street and Noho have completely transformed over the last fifteen years, when it was probably best known for CBGB’s music club nearby on Bowery. It is now the ‘It’ location in Manhattan . The apartment is above a great restaurant, il Buco, where celebrities often come for a quiet dinner, knowing that the classy clientele will not bother them (I have seen Elvis Costello, Robert Redford, David Byrne, Sophia Coppola, Matt Damon, Sarah Jessica Parker and many others there in recent years). Just in October 2008 the restaurant was booked by Clint Eastwood for guests including Angelina Jolie, and Keira Knightley was seen enjoying a quiet dinner with friends.
The location is excellent for getting both downtown and uptown by public transportation. Some of the city’s best boutiques and movie theaters are close-by in Soho, the East Village or Nolita. It's a two-minute walk to Whole Foods grocery store and to Astor Wines, one of the city's best wine stores.
Bond Street and the building itself are steeped in history - Edgar Allan Poe was a frequent visitor in the 1840s and wrote 'A Cask of Amontillado' while in the building, and it was owned by PT Barnum in the 1870s.
A prior guest wrote this to me recently: 'I've found a couple other spots that definitely could work while searching all over VRBO, but to be honest, after staying at your place in October, there's really no other spot that compares as far as great location and stylish apartment goes. And the rooftop doesn't hurt either.'
Some notice is appreciated! I am not set up to handle next day guests, I'm afraid.

Been living here for 14 years
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2000
It's my primary home - I love the area
The apartment was in the perfect location. It was quiet as far as city locations go. Loved walking around the area and everything we needed was either provided in the apartment or close by. It felt like home at the end of the day. My two girlfriends and I came in for a long weekend to explore the holiday markets and festivities and we were not disappointed. There were some fabulous restaurants right on Bond St or close by.
The shower was hot, rooms were warm and the beds were comfy and the books were plentiful. I would come back again and stay in this lovely place and would recommend it to my friends. Justin was very responsive and helpful from the first communication.
I was so lucky to find this apartment. The location was where we needed to be, right in the center of NOHO with great transportation within walking distance and food choices everywhere. I was able to live like a real New Yorker. The apartment was clean and so comfortable. It was extremely hot during my stay but not a problem. The A/C in the apartment was great. I was able to get some groceries nearby from Whole Foods so that saved money and time. Being on a historic street like this was very special and it was a great stay and at the right price.
The owner of the apartment was awesome to deal with. The response time was immediate and answered all my questions. He is well organized for anyone who rents the apartment.
The location is amazing: great restaurants, bars, shopping and music venues all in close proximity; Whole Foods just a block and a half away; and, easy access to subways. In addition, the apartment is comfortable with access to an awesome roof deck and Justin was a great host. I needed to ask him a couple of questions during my stay and he was extremely responsive.
Two things to consider if you stay here. First, it's a 5th floor walk up, which was fine for me but something to consider if you have any physical issues. Second, it can get hot in the apartment, so be sure to understand where the thermostat is and how to set it on your first night. We learned the hard way.
I would highly recommend this place for your stay in NYC.
I stayed at this apartment over the Easter weekend of 2016 with my wife and 21 year old daughter. We enjoyed the weekend and the apartment very much.
The apartment is easy to find, secure, clean and in a very convenient location. The rooftop deck is a wonderful ammenity. I only wish it had been warmer during my stay so that I could enjoy it more. It was a treat to live like a New Yorker for a few days.
The hosts were thoughtful and accommodating. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I would rent this apartment again without hesitation.
We rented for a pre-holiday weekend and had a wonderful time. The apartment arrangements were seamless, the location was fun, and the apartment itself was cozy, totally equipped and a great site for us to enjoy our time together. Thank you!
We rented Justin's apartment for a weekend. It was the perfect location to be with our 15 year old son. Lots of cool stores for teens/college-age students and many wonderful restaurants to choose from -- all within walking distance. The apartment was very comfortable for 3 people and the roof top deck is very nice and would have been enjoyed more had it been warmer. We love the NoHo/East Village location and was glad to be away from the more touristy areas of NYC. A great, and less costly, alternative to a hotel.
