Beautiful View

The view from the cabin was very beautiful. The privacy of the location and checking in/out was perfect for what my family wanted. There was a big enough back yard for the kids to play. The hot tub had privacy from neighbors. All the TVs could be logged into streaming services. There were plenty of towels and blankets for a whole family to use. This location was close to Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountain National Park. Sevierville is about 30 minutes away with normal spring break traffic.

Family Vacation

Swinging on a Star is beautiful. Cathie has everything you could ever need and more to make you feel right at home. It was decorated beautifully and it was so neat and clean. The beds are super comfy,I wish we had more time. My boys loved the game room. The view is amazing! We never got tired of it. Soaking in the hot tub looking at the mountains was the best! My husband and son even got to see a bear in the yard our 2nd night there. We had karaoke nights and movie night. There is so much to do! We spent a day downtown Gatlinburg it was a quick 5 minutes away. Swinging on a Star has it all, we can't wait to return!

BEST vacation rental EVER!!!

Our vacation rental was truly amazing at Swingin' On A Star. First of all, our host was friendly, accommodating, and welcoming to our family from the moment we booked our vacation to the check-out process. She made sure we were taken care of as soon as we arrived and personable for any needs we had. As we pulled up, the immediate appeal of the cabin and the breathtaking view of the mountains blew us away. The home overlooks the Smokey Mountains, and the entire backyard faces a breathtaking view. It was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing in the backyard. The porch swings, chairs, and jacuzzi made the relaxing atmosphere pleasurable. As you enter the rental, the home is perfectly decorated for the mountain experience. FULLY accommodating in every room with many amenities to support your vacation stay. The decor gives you a welcoming feel while comforting to know the host made the extra effort to ensure you feel at home while vacationing in the mountains. We did not want to leave daily to go explore as we wanted to enjoy the rental. The beds and linens were quality and extremely comfortable which made our long days of exploring worth it. The game room and media room were our favorite along with the jacuzzi. Many wonderful activities to use when you have downtime to relax and have fun. We loved the pool table and the old-school games such as Pac-Man. We appreciate the extra effort our host provides and will DEFINITELY return for our next vacation.

Why they chose this property

We had dreamed of having a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains for many years. It began when I was a little girl. My Mom was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia which borders the Smoky Mountains. As a little girl I remember playing in the creeks and cupping my hands on the side of the mountain to drink the ice cold pure sparkling mountain water of the Blue Ridge and from that moment a determination grew to have a cabin 'On Top of Old Smoky'. Our home now in the Southeastern part of the country outside of New Orleans, Louisiana created a natural path to the Great Smoky Mountains in order to revisit the mountains close to home and meet family for holidays. After years of visiting our dream became a reality and 'Swingin' On A Star' was born. The name of the cabin, founded by a family contest, is so appropriate as you actually feel as if you are 'Swingin' On A Star' with its Mezmerizing Views facing Mt. LeConte and its Mountain Ranges as far as you can see. Everyone has fun counting the stars both inside and out! Our family has always enjoyed the outdoors and what better place is there to experience all nature has to offer, no matter what the season, but with the Great Smoky Mountains at your doorstep. From hiking the many trails, to motor tours and picnics through the Roaring Fork and Cades Cove, climbing Clingman's Dome, visits to Cherokee, horseback riding and whitewater rafting, witnessing the magic of a Winter Wonderland or the splendor of a Fall Foilage--we've done it all and it's all there for your experience in your own backyard or the National Park only minutes away.

Our genuine log cabin is quietly nestled amongst the trees above the famous Arts & Crafts Commnunity where you will find the local artists and craftmen's quaint mountain shops, many of whom have become our special friends. We are so fortunate to have found the ideal location for the cabin with breathtaking Pinnacle Views and within Gatlinburg city limits only minutes to Light #3 downtown and the Park Entrance. It is also convenient and minutes to Dollywood and Pigeon Forge area attractions. The cabin is easily accessible with paved roads and level parking which is rare for most cabins in the area. One of our mountain friends has created chain saw carved Bear Friends out of tree trunks to greet you! There is 'Frankie & Star'--our nine foot mama bear & her cub, a 'Bear Fence' with each post animated, 'Teddy' by the kitchen window and 'Lucky Star' actually 'Swingin' On A Star' to begin your mountain adventure with a smile on your face. Only a few steps and you are in your retreat which is great for Grandparents and small children. We also wanted to make sure the cabin had two covered decks, which is also uncommon for most cabins, in order to shelter you no matter what nature brings--snow, rain or shine--you can walk out and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Smokeys--it is magical watching the weather change each minute. And there is nothing like having Spellbouding Views no matter where you are inside or out of the cabin. Lastly, we have traveled through the years to many places and wanted to make sure our cabin was a culmination of many meticulous details and amenities that offers an experience of peace, comfort and ultimate luxury.
